UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

What do you mean at what point should Police get involved?

Surely you must have known what I meant, as in taking action against these people? I think a lack of response has given rise to this happening in other places, well it has, as we are seeing. That's not to say taking action will change things for the better, but at what point will something have to be done?

When the Snowdome in Milton Keynes is targeted, it will signal Armageddon.

:lol::lol::lol:

I just had that exact conversation with my friend on the phone.

Milton Keynes isn't a great place though, lots of cnutish kids who are itching for it to happen over here, not to mention the entire new bit of the shopping centre is open up to anyone who wants to go there, at all times!

Was on my way to Tesco (Brent Park) NW London, saw about 50 hooded guys heading towards the store, was in my car so raced up to Tesco to quickly get my bread and orange juice but they had already started shutting the store down.

Is that 25% figure true?

I heard that referenced on BBC News 24 just recently - the figure cannot get steeper than that because of manpower rotations and because you would literally have to empty the shire counties of police completely.

I have not heard of COBRA being brought into session, I have heard nothing out of the PM's Office, Scotland Yard currently has no leadership - a few hours ago I wasn't even really sure when I mentioned the military, now we are beginning to run out of alternatives. Even though the police have more hardcore resources at their disposal than they are using, the culture within the police force will prevent them from using them effectively as we are seeing.

We have the 16th Air Assault Brigade on rapid response in Essex - the Parachute Regiment is part of this - it is their job to be on standby to be deployed anywhere at anytime. If a State of Emergency is to be declared and the military brought in to shore up the police, they will be at the front of the queue.

fecking hell mate, what kind of bread though?

Coventry? Don't think so.

I was meant to include Leeds as well. In the same situation in the sense there is a build up of people at a stand-off position with the police, not anything actually happening as of yet, like in London.

We have the Fulwood Barracks in Preston, I'll have a word.

They should issue that dye that they use in banks to the local shopkeepers to place in some of their stock.
See the little scumbags walking round with green hands and faces for the next few months and the police can arrest them at their leisure.

We don't know that yet.

Why are you saying it started because someone got twated then?

Odd.

What action do you suggest they take though Hectic?

That's not fair on green people though.

Shooting apparently in Leeds, not sure what it's related too but hundreds of youths gathering now.

Recreational rioting, perfect name for it.

We don't know that yet.

True, but what we do know that if police think it's serious enough to hold guns when telling you to get on the ground, you'd have to be seriously stupid not to do what you are told. We also know that this isn't America, innocent people don't go around getting arrested at gun point.

(The America thing was a joke for those who might actually miss it)

Just throw some fecking tear gas at the little shits.

It's funny that they hit the off licence but ignored the western union next door. Stupid prats.

I think you might be getting a bit melodramatic there, Hectic. Is it really all that bad. From what I'm seeing on the telly, the non-confrontational approach seems to be stopping it getting out of hand.

I think we are seeing that I wasn't being melodramatic, the news are still slow as shit as to what's going on outside of London.

I just don't buy into the opinion that there aren't social causes for these incidents, and I want to see them addressed at the root cause.

There are social problems at the root of it, the mentality that you are entitled to what you want when you want it, and if you don't feel like working for it just go out and take it.

There were far worse social problems in 19th century London, did gangs of teenagers riot so they could steal from local businesses?

Also, all these kids, where are their parents?

Birmingham.

For what it's worth not heard anything in Manchester.

I'm inner city and seemingly calm - hope it stays this way too.

There's no stand off in Coventry. I don't know what your source is, but it's not accurate.

Guardian reporter Paul Lewis tells the BBC the violence in Hackney is worse than in Enfield last night: "Rioters have control of an estate here. They have set up barricades along a number of roads."

My parents grew up in very rough parts of London in the fifties and sixties, there were no opportunities, no benefits, crime was horrendous and you had to get on with it - these people do not know how good they have it in 2011.

Thats like 5 mins away from me :nervous:

Have they targeted Brent Cross shopping center?

Why are the police not cracking skulls?

Every little cnut in London is watching the TV and realising how easy it it to loot shops and destroy property.

This could go on for a long time - at least until every JD Sports is cleaned out!!!
