It was fecking daft to be predicting those huge scorelines to begin with. Hopefully a few people will refrain from that sort of arrogance next time.

Anyway, I'm happy with the win, and not overly upset with the performance as that wasn't really a proper team.

And it wouldn't be us if we didn't struggle against a bottom team would it. :)

Hopefully, we will learn from it, which could benefit us as the season goes on.

Altho we were crap, it was just one of those nights I think - I wouldn't say it was a disgrace because imo, the players did make the effort, but it just didn't happen.

If Sir Alex didn't make so many changes, we would have slaughtered them.

Wether 1-0 or 10-0, a team only earns 3 points for the result. On the same day we beat Ipswich 9-0, Blackburn won 1-0, and thats the season they won the league.

We won, three points. No goals conceeded, Howard solid. O'Shea scored his first goal for United. Diego was good.

So, that's the positive I can gather from this match.

Playing Kleberson and Djemba as central midfielders was a bad idea IMO. Now if either of them had been playing with Keane (or Scholes for that matter) I believe we'd have looked more solid. There were too much space between our defence and our midfield. Now I wouldn't blame Kleberson or Djemba, they are new to English football and it's going to take time to adjust. Obviously having an esablished player beside you will help you much.

But for fecks sake. We won and thus made our best ever Premier League start. Winning while playing badly is always a good sign though it's of course important to play badly as seldom as possible.

I still think it's best to bring him on when we're winning rather than put pressure on him.
:nono: It didn't do Giggsy any harm when he played all the time at 18...
How is Cristiano supposed to gel with the team if he only gets 20-30min every week??

But fecking Arse are above us in the league...

I don't think it was "one of those nights", it wasn't like we were unlucky not to score 5.

I think we underestimated wolves by playing a midfield who had never played together before, and a defence we've never used before. Obviously SAF had no choice with Rio & Mickey, but Scholes and Giggsy should have been on from the start.

The 3 points is the most important thing though :)

There's still 35 fecking matches to play. 115 points to win.

When was the last time a team won the league on goal difference?

Can't remember, probably the Scousers losing it against Arsenal...

Anyway, I'm not worried about our GD, just annoying to see us in 2nd place. :p

Btw, 35 games are worth 105 pts :smirk:

Given our midfield today, whys it a shock livvie that Ronaldo struggled.

If hes playing in a midfield with Keane/Giggs/Scholes he'll play better because the rest of the team will with those quality players. The only thing this proves is that hes not ready to carry the team, no shock for an 18 year old. I say play him from the start on sunday, with the rest of the first team, its the only way he'll be ready quicker.

I'm am satisfied. This is my reply for all those moaners above. Playing against such a teams was always hard for MU. 10 defenders tactic did well. Every time Ronaldo or Ruud was in the box he had 3 or 4 defenders on his back. Two evident penalties. First faul on Ronaldo and second Ince faul on Keane. I agree that we might have changed the team but the thing which Sir Alex has done was amateurish. Giggs and Scholes should have started (giggs for my fantasy league :p ) alongside Keano and Kleb in midfield an Djemba twins on right full back. Gazza with John i center. Ronaldo was good but as I said earlier. He couldn't get through 5 defenders kicking him on his ankles. Ruud should be a second half option and not a starter. He is to tired. He has lost his concentration. I hope that the game against Saints will bring us the taste of glory.

Did I say it was a shock?

Is it true that Rio is sick and silvestre is injured???, they better be well by the weekend cos I don't want to see that defence of today against southamton at the weekend. Keane has to play in midefield, he is not really quick enuff to be in defence.

I know, we should get rid of him - what has he done for us lately anyway?
Hmm... I was noting a fact that Sir Alex made loads of changes, it wasn't meant to be a criticism.
