Relax, its going to happen. We're going to wait for Ancelotti to knock Bayern out tonight and hence be guaranteed another season, then we'll confirm a deal with van Gaal by the end of this week.
LvG also favours wing play, attacking football and youth, the perfect combination to maintain our values AND to freshen up things.
That's what I mean. After losing to Barca in 2009 he should have strenghtend our midfield, but he didn't even do it after losing to them in 2011. He signed Ashley bloody Young but refused to pay Hazard's agent a year later. The 2012 CL group stage disaster should also have never happened. As I said, our old school thinking and refusal to move on has held us back since 2009/10. We now need to do what we did in 2006/2007: Keep our strenghts and combine it with a new approach (Queiroz). Get rid of the past (Keane, RvN in 2006). Now SAF isn't the manager anymore and we won't get any new approach from his Class of 92 who only know his way. So we need someone else to freshen up things. It's not like LvG is buying the club, we still have SAF and Sir Bobby as "Directors", one of Giggs/Scholes will probably stay and LvG would be fine with it (but not all of them ffs, they are welcome to train our kids though and work their way up). @united_99 makes a good point actually, Querioz's spells at the club changed Sir Alex approach to games, especially in Europe, we abandoned the swashbuckling 442 esq performances particuarly in big away matches and went quite often with a 433 or variables of it, it's only when Queiroz left the 2nd time that Sir Alex slowly started slipping back to his more authodox 442 approach which also coincided with the ultimate stagnation of our football these past years.
United are more important than the Class of 92!

The Class of 92' are United. It's important that we keep these lads involved with the day to day running of the club and passing on the United ethos otherwise we become just another club.

And as @united_99 says again, LvG through the years has favoured wingers, his first Barca team had Rivaldo and Figo coming in from the flanks, his Bayern side ended with Ribery and Robben, his Ajax side had Overmars and Ronald de Boer and co.
Are they? So you're saying we didn't exist prior 92 and we will cease to exist afterwards? No one is bigger then the club and that include the class of 92.
Yep. This cringeworthy nonsense really needs to stop.We are just another club.
The first report regarding regarding the coaching staff came from the Netherlands, which presumably will have come from Van Gaal's camp but Ogden is also reporting it now, he doesn't piggy back on reports from other countries so pretty safe to say he's had it confirmed from the club.Be interesting to know which side this was leaked from.
I'm guessing ours, and I'm also guessing we are using it as a delaying tactic. Quite a few reliable reports suggest woodward (whos decision it is) prefers ancelotti.
We may be using this not only as a delaying tactic to see what happens in next week or so, but also as a little pr excercise, in so far that we are showing to try to get giggs in the set up as much as possible which may cushion the board against criticism if the new manager doesn't utilise giggs.
Not good for the new manager though out of the blocks.
Just a feeling
Another club? We're United and we do things the United way.
4-4-2, British Managers, The Prophetic Class of 92...its all in our DNA and to deny that would be to deny everything our club stands for. YAWN.
I assume this is some form of sarcasm but since a lot of people bring up these points (seriously) I'll answer them anyway.Another club? We're United and we do things the United way.

Fergie was not stuck in the past...he was always thinking ahead..planning ahead....and no one was better than him in tactics. He tried to get the players he needed to fit his plans.
If age had been on his side...he would be building another team. But time waits for no one.
Fergie's principles were always sound.

They obviously aren't. No bunch of players for any club, anywhere, are the club. The Class of 92' are United. It's important that we keep these lads involved with the day to day running of the club and passing on the United ethos otherwise we become just another club.
at the end of the day, there is no guarantee with ANY manager
Personally, i think i would rather Giggs gets a shot at it. There is a higher potential ceiling for long term success
What we know about VG is his age, and his penchant for stirring things up. Thats a short-term solution.
The likes of Giggs and Scholes are needed, they have so much knowledge to pass on
whatever way they do it, if it goes pear-shaped they will get people saying "i knew we should have gone with x"
We are stuck in 1992.
Totally Agree. No, they're a part of our history, they've been great but I'm hoping they'll all move on eventually. I'd like a clean break and hope we can build a new structure for the next couple of decades. But yeah I love them as much as anyone, like the Best-Law-Charlton trinity they'll be remembered for being outstanding players...a part of our recent success. The club will continue to evolve and hopefully maintain its status...as its always done when players and managers have moved on.
The legend of this club started with Busby Babes, we had Best, Law and Charlton not just the class of 92. However none of them are bigger than Manchester, they are just part of the club and its history. Are they? So you're saying we didn't exist prior 92 and we will cease to exist afterwards? No one is bigger then the club and that include the class of 92.
What would we make this decisions on the basis of? How can we put such a giant club in their hands and take such a risk on a bunch of ex players who really have no track record or prior experience? Isn't it so much more sound a business/logical/footballing decision to let them showcase how ready they are elsewhere before letting them decide the fortunes of the entire club ? If they're so ready, well see the results wherever they prove themselves. Why hold them back IF they are ready?

Bore off Nev.... We are not an apprenticeship for British managers.
Neville has acted like such an idiot since the day Fergie retired.
Could do with some common sense too.Someone lend Gary a comma...
