United linked with van Gaal in the meeja

Yeah I think there's a big chance he would thrive under van Gaal and finally show us what he can do again, hopefully with some consistency if we're lucky. Obviously this seasons been a complete right off but I think Nani has just been unlucky with injuries and simply needs a run of games. Young is the winger van Gaal should get rid of but it does sound like Nani might be off to Juventus. If that means we get Reus though then I guess everyone will be happy. It's crucial van Gaal sorts out the pathetic amount of goals we have scored from midfielders lately with some quality signings. All our them apart from Januzaj and Mata have been embarrassing this season so I'm looking forward to van Gaal shaking things up.
Biased much?

Jk.

Biased much?

Jk.

Oh I'm definitely going to regret this user name when he's sold in the summer. I do like Nani though, I would like to see him given another season as I do think he can be an important player for us if he stays injury free. It depends who's available though that van Gaal will want, if we do somehow sign Reus then I think either one or both of Young and Nani will be gone for sure.

Manchester United will announce Louis van Gaal as manager within the next 24 hours, according to The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden.

Wednesday is considered the deadline for news of Van Gaal to be released as it is when he joins up with the Holland squad for their first training camp ahead of the World Cup. However, Ogden believes it will be announced today.

Reports linking Van Gaal to United have reached the point where it could incredulous if he didn’t become our new manager because every media oulet has confidently reported it is a case of when, not if, the announcement will be made.

The Mirror even suggested Van Gaal made his first move as United manager by blocking the sale of Nani.

I disagree with the caf's general opinion of keeping Giggs at united. I honestly think that we need such a rebuilding job at United that we cannot afford bad coaches and so I won't mind Van Haal getting his trusted assistants and not give Giggs any substantial position at United. Giggs only just had his coaching badges and certainly doesn't have any experience with tactics at the managerial level and I don't think he could keep up with Van Haal, thus only creating problems. Let Giggs go and earn his position and then come back at United where he is most welcome. Lets not do a mini-Moyes again where the job was handed because of Moyes being cut from the same cloth (analogous to Giggs knowing the United philosophy).

I also find quite a bit of objection with Robson's comments about Scholes, Butt, Neville.. "I think it would be very disappointing for those lads not to be kept on, in whatever role, as they are part of Manchester United," Robson told MUTV.".. Who the feck cares about whether they are disappointed? I just hate this Class of 92 bullshit that is going around lately. Giving respect for the service that they have provided to the club should be rightfully done. But no sentimentality bullshit in getting the jobs done. If any of those guys are good enough to coach and administrate, they will stay. But keeping greenhorns just because of some sentimentality is stupid and a sure path to failure. That said, I think our players are very level-headed persons and don't feel entitled that they should be given jobs because they have played for the club for so many years.

@ManUtd43vr On the Class of 92', from all reports they are doing a very good job with the younger players. All good coaches have to start somewhere and it's hard to judge a coach compared to a manager. Players Butt and Scholes have been involved with in recent seasons seem to be developing well which leads me to suggest that they probably are decent coaches.

There's a valid point about the class of 92. Scholes and Giggs have always played with us and have no outside experience. Butt is ok, but then he played at Newcastle. Well, you can say the same about Kluivert, but at least he played at many clubs. Coaches do get better having been exposed to multiple playing conditions. The Class of 92 (this term has been overused a lot by the way) are good for continuity at United, but at this moment, I don't know if we need continuity.

If the last bit is true, then it should be good news. I whole heartedly believe Van Gaal can make Nani the best player he can be.

Article in the Guardian makes it looks pretty damned official, this all feels like the leaked news about Moyes.

I wonder if the NSA is run by a Liverpool fan and he's been getting revenge on us by leaking everything we do.

Anyway, I'm extremely excited about Van Gaal! This whole time I've been banging on about 433 I've never really thought it would happen, and now there's a real chance! He's used other formations but I'm hoping he goes with 433, our weakness in midfield begs for a midfield 3 to compensate.

Of course Van Gaal should be able to attract some fantastic players, so that really eases our worries. I think it's madness to suggest he'll bring in 7 players (first XI sorts not punts on 18 year-olds for the reserves), but I can see 3, or maybe even 4 on a stretch, first team players come in.

Only Butt seems to be doing any actual work worthy of a position at Manchester United. And Warren Joyce is credited with the major part of our U21s development. Scholes was with Butt for a few days. Nobody knows what Giggs did under Moyes; probably he didn't do much if we believe the reports of discontent. Neville with England is a part-time job really. Beckham is out of the picture.
Giggs is being touted for the senior assistant position to Van Gaal. This is a top position and not an internship one. Taking such risks in our current condition is very naive in my opinion.

Exactly, and if it was a case of him having to block it then it means Moyes had planned to get rid of him. Obviously cannot be sure if he also wanted rid of Valencia and Young but since none of those are rumored to move, I can only assume Moyes' first target out was Nani. Thank feck he is gone!

The biggest thing I am excited about is that we would start passing intelligently and using space with good movement. The caf term of zombie passing is actually very apt.

I hope he knows what he's doing in this particular case, especially when many among us already threw the towel on Nani.

Yeah, because a top level manager must be wrong compared to the collective wisdom on the cafe!

I would prefer if LVG came in without Giggs. Giggs is too close to the players and it would be difficult for him not to pass on his biases to LVG.
Let every player have a clean slate and earn their right to play for Utd.

Scholes was there before he retired, he has always been around from all reports despite not having an 'official' role. When we are talking about the future of Class of 92's invovlement, no one is talking about Beckham.

Obviously Warren Joyce deserves big praise but what better place for these young coaches to learn of experts in their field like this. I obviously see the benefits of them experiencing something different and if they or the club choose to do that, I will have no issue but I have not seen or heard anything to suggest they are not good coaches.

Finally, on my want to keep them involved, I'm talking about in the set up, not just the first team. They could very well be suited to more of a coaching role with reserves and youth teams. I will back van Gaal bringing in his own assistant.

Well exactly, this is a big reason I like 433, it's nearly always played with an emphasis on quick interchanging passing. It hurts to watch us kick and run.

I doubt Giggs will step on Van Gaal's feet, he's not the sort to suffer nonsense.

If Giggsy is smart he'll listen very carefully to everything Van Gaal says and does and learn a great deal.

I am extremely excited for this happening, Look at the current Bayern and Barca team, they are somewhat shaped by Van Gaal from their beginning.

Manchester United retain the current interim manager Ryan Giggs as important technical man in the organization , as well as Louis van Gaal next season at the helm at Old Trafford . The Welshman , tonight against Hull City on the bench at the last home game of the season , will soon have the right to be the new manager . The arrival of Patrick Kluivert is thus definitively scrapped .

Manchester United will not make the same mistake as last summer , when David Moyes its own , completely new staff took to Old Trafford - and abruptly took leave of virtually all forces from the permanent staff of Alex Ferguson .

The current interim manager Ryan Giggs should therefore soon as cultural guardian remain alongside Louis van Gaal , who expected this week will be appointed as the new manager of the club . Formally Director Ed Woodward sees Giggs , kids club , taking as key technical man towards the future .

Müller and Reus
Van Gaal has already agreed to that arrangement . The current coach of Orange wanted Patrick Kluivert like to take as his right , but could continue playing after extensive discussions with the club life with the leading role of Giggs . Even his contemporaries Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt should be retained for United , but what is the exact role still under discussion .

United is now busy with Van Gaal and Giggs in conversation about the future of the club . United have to spend in the transfer market to thoroughly renovate . The team tens of millions Gaals former pupil of Thomas Müller , which is open to a departure from Bayern Munich , is a leading candidate to strengthen midfield as Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund .

media Circus
Since Van Gaal tomorrow begins his preparation for the World Cup , with an internship in Hoenderloo , the club will need to act quickly and decisively in order not to lose too much time. The arrival of the new manager will be made to disrupt the exercise of Orange campaign as little as possible while United themselves tonight playing his final home game with Hull City . Announced shortly

It is clear that there is anyway an English media circus will erupt around Van Gaal . Several British journalists have been accredited for the press conference next Tuesday , where Van Gaal his preselection will disclose.

says that Giggsy will be our new assistant. The Crucial thing is that it seems Van Gaal has agreed to that.

I think this is the best arrangement going forward. G

That's an acceptable arrangement, I guess. Gives Giggsy a chance to step up if things go tits up with Van Gaal. I hope we see more of the good side of him than the bad.

Nervous times. I am going to keep my fingers crossed throughout his managerial stint at the club. :nervous:

This is a good arrangement. LVG has a good track record of passing on knowledge to those that have worked with him, such as Pep and Mourinho. Brendon Rodgers to a certain extent because he worked under Mourinho before.

Anyone else finding all the clamor from our former players such as Bruce, Robson etc. urging Van Gaal to offer Giggs a role a bit annoying? I mean we all know the club want Ryan involved. But LVG should be able to make his own decisions and on his terms.

Would they be saying the same if a British manager was on the verge of being appointed? They'd probably be saying that the manager should be given time and complete control.

Maybe I'm being too over analyzing.

I think it's very inappropriate.

I'm getting f*cked off with this Giggs bollocks now, apparently he's getting the no.2 role under a certain amount of pressure from the club on Van Gaal to keep him involved. It's more pathetic sentimentality. Van Gaal's got a humongous job on his hands here if he's trying to change the way we play football, surely he needs an assistant who has experience of and an intuition for the style he wants to implement? Giggs knows nothing about it. Not only that, the reasons given for recommending he stay on in a senior role are limited in substance to the fact that he knows everyone's name and he wants the job in a couple of years so we better help him get started from now. What is he actually bringing to the table? If LVG wants continuity he should bring back Rene, who actually knows all the players and knows how to coach.

Strange that you want us to play new football and then want us to bring Rene back who was part of the coaching when we played our dullest football ever in the past ten years or so(I'm completely disregarding the Moyes era).

I hope LVG sees value in keeping giggs as an assistant and not forced to do so.

Might be wrong but Van Gaal doesn't seem the type of guy who would be forced to do anything.

I hope LvG wasn't kind of forced to take Giggs and I have not been liking all the leaked stories and interviews from our ex players about keeping on Giggs without actually giving valid reasons to keep him. The only reason everyone seems to give is that he has been with the club forever.

Anyway, RvP is very popular in the dressing room and LvG will probably have the younger players on his side as they will enjoy learning from him. There also won't be so many senior players left after that season so I just first of all hope Giggs behaves, but if not then I really hope he can't influence the dressing room anymore. Either it all goes well or Giggs will try to leak things everytime LvG doesn't agree with his 442 or whatever.

I find myself becoming more and more excited by the prospect of Van Gaal managing United. At first, I was a bit worried about the fact that he seems to be an absolute crackpot, but I've decided that that's exactly what this club needs. A mad professor, who won't hesitate to bench the "stars" for the greater good, etc.

You could understand the sentimentality if it were not for the fact that Giggs is not even a full coach this year, (still on the playing staff), Butt is nothing more than our youth team manager (the years below Joyce's United side), Scholes was not employed at the club at all this season, just turned up if he felt like it to assist Butty, and Pip Neville would be out on his ass right now along with the rest of Moyes cronies if it were not for the fact he was United prior as a player...

It's just completely bizarre that we'd insist righteously on keeping them, leading almost to some kind of "make or break" decision.

What the feck?

Have you imagined that?

Damn it. Have we not sorted this out then? For all the laughing at Liverpool today (and I've enjoyed it) at least those lot still have CL to look forward to next season. We need to sort ourselves out, ffs.

I'm also not sure as to why are we only looking at negatives of this CO92 thing at United. Has Ancelotti been hampered by Zidane's presence at Madrid? Barcelona are going to appoint Luis Enrique whose only managerial achievement is to finish in mid table with Celta. Clubs like to go back to their roots, people need to stop pretending as if United is the only club who does that.

I'm struggling to look at the negatives for appointing Giggsy as AM. Particularly as the alternative was Kluivert who has very less coaching experience himself.

The fact the dutch papers caught wind of Van Gaal being spoken to by the Glazers, while Moyes was still in the job and United initially denied it, speaks volumes to the fact we're pushing to keep some of them, considering they're all reporting and making mention of the same over the past week, including the telegraf (sp?) who seem particuarly well connected to LvG.
I just don't understand, like many others why we'd push for it considering none were in important roles this time last year, thats all.

Chill. It's only the first week of May.

(And 2006-2009)

If you read more carefully you'd see that I said "if LVG wants continuity...". It's apparently something he likes to have when coming into a new club; a coach who knows all the players well and can give him a headstart on who to be looking at from the youth.

I don't particularly mind at all if he overlooks Giggs and Rene and brings in more of his own people.
