People think Januzaj is better than Kagawa?
De Gea
Rafael - Smalling - Vidic - Evra
Fellaini - Carrick
Mata - Rooney - Januzaj
Van Persie
Lindegaard - Evans - Jones - Cleverley - Young - Giggs - Welbeck
Valencia, Hernandez and Kagawa all travelled long distances so I expect them to be rested.

Well not always. Width comes from how the coaches ask players to move. In your 4-2-3-1 a coach could quite easily ask the 2 outside players in the 3 to provide width or have the full backs provide the width. For me the difference is less about interchanging than width. In 4-2-3-1 you play narrower, giving people more options for short passing and making it easier to hold onto the ball. Whereas in 4-4-2 you look to use the full width of the pitch to exploit the available space.
Expected line-up

-----Carrick--Cleverley----
Mata------------------Young
-------Rooney RVP

Januzaj - Kagawa - Mata

Fair enough. I should say that's how I'd like to see us line up, rather than that is by definition how 4 2 3 1 woks.Well not always. Width comes from how the coaches ask players to move. I watched Scotland play Poland the other day and Scotland had the usual 4 across the midfield in what most would view as 4-4-2, Poland had 3 central midfielders. Most in here argue that 4 across the midfield in a 4-4-2 means 2 CM versus 3 CM players however when Scotland lost the ball the wide midfield players came inside and it ended up being Poland with 3 CM players against Scotlands 4. Scotland often outnumbered them despite it being 4-4-2. Things changed in the 2nd half but it was a good example of how what the players were doing wasnt restricted by what people interpret the positional representation to be.
The formation does not dictate the systems of play or the style of play.Individual and collective player roles at certain moments of play do.
Expect Smalling at RB, Valencia as RW and Cleverley in CM. As usual there will be no cohesion, the defence will be all over the place and we will try to sort it out by playing long balls to RvP and Rooney. The most depressing thing is I'm not even joking or being sarcastic, I genuinely think this is how it's going to pan out.
Line-ups?
Another 15 minutes before they'll be out.
Yeah I don't think it's that controversial. With our best number 9 up top and an actual number 10 in the whole (Mata or Kagawa) and I think we'd play a bit better. Although I find picking line-ups largely academic atm because I feel our issues run deeper than just personnel. Everyone thought we would play better when RvP and Rooney came back from injury and it ended up being anticlimactic as we just continued to play more of the same shit. I just think our movement, passing and moving, one touch play, pressing etc is poor overall right now regardless of who comes in.You'd drop Rooney?
Anyone know a radio station that I could listen to this on? Not 5live Sports Extra though because I'll be driving!
This will be our turning point. 4-0.
