People think Januzaj is better than Kagawa?

De Gea

Rafael - Smalling - Vidic - Evra

Fellaini - Carrick

Mata - Rooney - Januzaj

Van Persie

Lindegaard - Evans - Jones - Cleverley - Young - Giggs - Welbeck

Valencia, Hernandez and Kagawa all travelled long distances so I expect them to be rested.

Just found out Fellaini might be out for this one due to a back spasm. If that's the case, then I think Cleverley will replace him in the starting XI, putting Fletcher in place of Cleverley on the bench.

My choice XI -

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Jones Evra
Carrick Giggs
Valencia Mata Januzaj
Rooney
Apparently Fellaini and Evans will not be fit for the game. Our best performance of the season has come with Giggs in the midfield, I am surprised that we haven't seen him used more often. A good Giggs, with movement and creativity in the midfield will mean a good Valencia. Rest pretty much pick themselves.

I'll go with a 4-1 United win. Mata to get on the board and Giggs to score his first of the season in the PL.

I agree with that @Shinjisan, I think we might see Giggs in there and to be honest, that would make me a little more confident in us creating chances.

People think Januzaj is better than Kagawa?

If I had to pick one to play for Chelsea, it would be a pretty easy choice.

If I had to pick one to play for Chelsea for just 1 game it would be the same choice (so its not just about potential).

For me the difference is less about interchanging than width. In 4-2-3-1 you play narrower, giving people more options for short passing and making it easier to hold onto the ball. Whereas in 4-4-2 you look to use the full width of the pitch to exploit the available space.
Well not always. Width comes from how the coaches ask players to move. In your 4-2-3-1 a coach could quite easily ask the 2 outside players in the 3 to provide width or have the full backs provide the width.
I watched Scotland play Poland the other day and Scotland had the usual 4 across the midfield in what most would view as 4-4-2, Poland had 3 central midfielders. Most in here argue that 4 across the midfield in a 4-4-2 means 2 CM versus 3 CM players however when Scotland lost the ball the wide midfield players came inside and it ended up being Poland with 3 CM players against Scotlands 4. Scotland often outnumbered them despite it being 4-4-2. Things changed in the 2nd half but it was a good example of how what the players were doing wasnt restricted by what people interpret the positional representation to be.
The formation does not dictate the systems of play or the style of play.Individual and collective player roles at certain moments of play do.

If Fellaini is out I would like to see this team. Otherwise I would like to see Fellaini start.

---------------DDG
Rafael--Smalling--Evans---Evra
---------Jones-----Fletcher
---Mata-----Kagawa----Januzaj
--------------Rooney

Expected line-up

Smalling-Evans-Vidic-Evra
-----Carrick--Cleverley----
Mata------------------Young
-------Rooney RVP

De Gea
Rafael - Jones - Vidic - Evra
Carrick - Cleverley
Januzaj - Kagawa - Mata
van Persie

Hope Fellaini isn't out. We need him to put a run of games together.

Apart from DDG, there isn't another player in the team whose the absence will make think that he'll be an important loss. It's a weird feeling.

I tend to agree that's what we will see. Although after the rest he has had recently I'd get Januzaj in there to get some momentum going for next week.

WBA's form against the big sides is impressive.

Got a point away at Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea (should've won) and beat us.

At home they've drawn with Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, and beat Arsenal.

Although I read on here yesterday we're a 2nd tier PL club now, so maybe we've got a chance.

Whatever we do, no Smalling at rightback pls. It's just a torture watching him play there, and i reckon he feels it too

Kicking off at the same time as the Arsenal and Everton game? What fecking idiot sorted it like that?

I want a front 4 of:

Januzaj, Kagawa, Mata and Rooney

Expect Smalling at RB, Valencia as RW and Cleverley in CM. As usual there will be no cohesion, the defence will be all over the place and we will try to sort it out by playing long balls to RvP and Rooney. The most depressing thing is I'm not even joking or being sarcastic, I genuinely think this is how it's going to pan out.

That lineup for the final game of last season

Fair enough. I should say that's how I'd like to see us line up, rather than that is by definition how 4 2 3 1 woks.

And a lot of getting to the byline...... or at least attempting to

I just want Moyes to play all of Mata, RVP, Kagawa and Januzaj in one game....I mean he's got nothing to lose now so he might as well. Yet every time I hope for this we end up with fecking Young and Valencia.

I think Moyes has seen the light, and we won't see Valencia & Young playing together ever again. Maybe one, but not both.

Anyone know a radio station that I could listen to this on? Not 5live Sports Extra though because I'll be driving!

You'd drop Rooney?
Yeah I don't think it's that controversial. With our best number 9 up top and an actual number 10 in the whole (Mata or Kagawa) and I think we'd play a bit better. Although I find picking line-ups largely academic atm because I feel our issues run deeper than just personnel. Everyone thought we would play better when RvP and Rooney came back from injury and it ended up being anticlimactic as we just continued to play more of the same shit. I just think our movement, passing and moving, one touch play, pressing etc is poor overall right now regardless of who comes in.

Haha - it's like you're from the past.
