What Now For Moyes?

Am I the only one in here who desperately wants Moyes to be successful?

OK, he was very bad, borderline terrible, with us, but that's no reason to 'hate' him like he's a disease or something.

I dont care what happens to him, but to say you "desperately" want him to succeed is a bit strong of a word dont you think?

I'd love him to succeed but in another country hopefully. He obviously wasn't up to managing us but he didn't take us to 7th on purpose even though some people would have you think he did. But yes as an ex member of Manchester United I like to see him do well just like most other that move on from us to other clubs(with the exception of maybe Tevez haha)

I don't hide it, I am desperate for him to be successful. Just like I wanted Big Ron, Queiroz and McClaren to be. Like I said, he did quite badly. I don't hide the fact that it was bad for United. But he is still a human being, and he was once connected to us. It's not like he did a Brian Kidd or Peter Kenyon.

Utter bollocks, so you are saying that interviewer specifically asked "did Moyes show rio video of jagielka defending"? Sounds like BS to me.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-in-my-final-season-at-Manchester-United.html

And there was another story, seemingly nonsensical, that Moyes had taken Vidic and Ferdinand aside in training to tell them how to defend like Phil Jagielka, the centre-half he turned into an England player at Everton.

When asked whether that episode had actually taken place, Vidic was diplomatically non-committal. “It doesn’t matter. Listen, what happens between the players and us stays between the players and us

I have no fondness for him whatsoever but I'm baffled that we have people saying Crystal Palace is the perfect job for him. He's clearly a level above that and he's clearly a good manager.

Yes, unlike some posters who post some very cnutish comments about him.

I'm very fond of Moyes. He's a good Mgr that got put in an impossible spot. Following saf and taking over a team with an aging defence and an underperforming midfield. He should have been given a few more years

If he had shown signs of positive play in terms of style and results, he probably would have stayed.

I think few fans would disagree with the difficulty of his task. However after 50 games I dont think anyone could say that he was anywhere near solving the problem. If LVG is still as stuck after 50 games Ill reassess my view of Moyes' time as manager but tbh I dont think thats particularly likely.

It better not have any "I told you so" in it.
In fairness I'd bet that's the only reason he's doing the interview...he'll probably also come out saying how he had deals for all the best players in the world lined up if we had have kept him.....No matter what he says the man had no idea what he was doing at Utd and it's gonna take us a good while to repair the damage he did

Yeah, don't get the hatred towards Moyes 1 bit. He tried his best but was ultimately out of his depth. But it wasn't entirely his fault. No one could turn down the United job.

He's a good, honest guy and in football, that's rare. Can't hate him but I'm glad he's gone. We have fans bitching about players about loyalty, being twats etc, but us fans - are even more fickle.

Well said, Ish ;)

Was asked by keys the cnut today if he feels any pleasure in united's loss today, he said he'd never feel that way because he knew those players and they've worked really hard for him and he wants them to do well, he said the rebuilding process just needed more time than 10 months. In general he was very respectful towards the club.

He's a nice guy but he dithered too much when it came to fixing what needed to be fixed in the team....he had plenty of chances to fix problems with the team and his continued pursuit of fabregas despite Martino insisting that the player was going nowhere, while also not having a plan B option showed that he was completely clueless in the transfer market....nice guy but i'm certain he'd have blown 200 million by now if he was still her eand we'd still be looking shite

If we make no trasnsfers, will it mean that LVG dithered too ?

After today's loss he said that LVG needs more time to install his system btw. Nothing groundbreaking but yea, good to see that he's backing up publicly. Not that it matters.

The major difference of course being that last year we were a Champions League club that had much stronger pulling power than now....It was mentioned to Dave when he arrived what areas were weak and he dithered too much and then made a panic buy..I don't hate the guy - he just comes across as being a bit delusional and in denial at times.....And I just can't see LVG making the same mistakes as Dave did and if we can't get Benatia then I'm sure he'll find someone else

It better not have any "I told you so" in it.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

Everybody knew it was going to take time. Taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson for anybody, it would take time.

Louis van Gaal will need the time to do the job as well. He'll need to have that opportunity to change things and get a team he wants.

What happened today happened to me against West Brom, Newcastle, and Everton last year.

Every team in the Premier League is very organised now and quite often it's the special players that win you the games.

Its almost as if he has been waiting for his 'I told you so' moment and rub it in when we lost. The media is claiming he is giving support to LVG, I am not buying it. More like he is trying to justify his dismal season last year with more excuses.

Most important art of that is where he talks about managing united exactly as he managed Everton, shows he never really understood the job and it's no wonder things didn't work out.

He says he did that wrongly and should have started earlier that summer.

Which both things are true but are we making the same mistake twice over this season as Van Gaal started even more late.

He doesn't consider falling to 7th failure? Making top 4 was the minimum requirement, many also expected a cup or two. But top 4 was an absolute must. As soon as it became a mathematical impossibility, his services were dispensed with. He failed, believe me.

From what I recall, could be wrong now, but you were one of few who didn't lose their shit that badly over him.

When someone like you is of the opinion he failed, he failed!!

"So he got there four hours early, went for a run, took a shower and then, alone in an empty, eerie building, began to clear his desk."

I think he really did keep the mousemat.

He quite clearly means that he didn't feel he was given the chance for his long term project to succeed or fail.

Nothing of note in that article really, he's quite honest that he did things wrong that he would change. Certainly not a 'I told you so' like some are suggesting.

I am worried about his not so subtle digs at Woodwards ability

Time is earned, not gifted. Why would we just allow him free reign of the club for 6 years, regardless of results? This isn't 1986, the club is in a different place completely. We can't hang around waiting to see if a few more years does the trick.

Yeah i supported him, he was our manager after all. Agreed with his sacking at the time though, and still do.
