What Now For Moyes?

Moyes' reputation getting enhanced by the week. United still look abysmal and Everton getting trounced by Chelsea.

Good lad, Davey.
Yeah, I'm not sure that paints him in a good light, though. Seeing as he made them that way in the first place, and all.

If you think that our brutal approach play in solely down to Moyes and not a theme setting in from at least 2009, there's no hope for you, pal.
I won't go into more tired debates about Moyes but he was at least partially responsible for our downfall, we're a team with no confidence and that's largely due to his disastrous tenure here.

To argue that because we still look poor actually paints him in a positive light is mental.

Moyes drained our confidence. It's obvious for everyone to see. I'm not saying we played wonderful football, but at least we won the league with this squad. It's on the Moyes defenders to explain this extreme turn in our squad.

Injured RVP, out of form Carrick and Moyes. If Carrick had been playing like the previous season our forwards would have got more of the ball, if RVP had stayed fit for the entire season we wouldn't have to rely on our poor forwards.

Carrick and RVP in form would have made up for Moyes mistakes and conversely a better manager would have covered the cracks of the players who were out of form. A catch 22 if you think about it.

Cruyff passed a comment on Moyes earlier this week. He said that he s a good coach but did not manage to control the big players in the dressing room.

Isn't Moyes holding out for CL football, therefore Newcastle would be beneath those standards, no?

I was amazed he didn't take the Celtic job and head back there (started playing career there). It was the best chance at a league title straight away, CL qualification and good opportunity for more group stage exposure.

Even as a 1 season tie over or an 18 month stay until a bigger job surfaced.

there were reports saying that before joining us he was thinking of taking a year off from football, maybe he s taking it now

He'll go to Bundesliga and then Kagawa will beat his team.

Yes, just like the man he almost beat, Pep Guardiola.

With respect to Celtic, the Scottish league is a rubbish league. After the highs and lows of managing in the PL, with Manchester United no less, going to Scotland would be a step down I think. Though anywhere from United would be a step down, apart from a few super clubs. He'll be looking to go to Germany. Probably Wolfsburg or summat. He's a fan of German football. However, their last experiment with a British coach went awry.

If it's personal reasons then it's fair enough. I know he's a Rangers fan but having played for Celtic already I assumed he's able to put that aside.

Yeah, I've seen his quotes re; German football before. I get, and agree with, your points re; Scottish football however the probability of adding trophies relatively easily boosts his CV too. Further CL exposure and any bonus performances can be added to the CV.

I feel Neil Lennon is the candidate of choice for any Newcastle-level PL club that presses the trigger early.

I'm not convinced Moyes was even good enough for Everton. He made them hard to beat and he set them up to score goals through having a giant on the end of the set pieces but most Everton fans will say he made them hard to beat but held them back for years

Not sure Newcastle supporters would be happy with Moyes.
No, not with their emphasis on 'entertaining football'. Their fans (like most) enjoy seeing a team go all out for a victory. Moyesie was afraid to do that even with the league champions.

I think Newcastle will do great if they appoint Tony Pulis. The man is a master at rebuilding wreckages. Stoke is in great shape now and Palace have a great team bond and structure thanks to him. Newcastle need a strong, stable, no-nonsense force at the helm and Pulis would be perfect.

From trying to beat Newcastle to managing Newcastle in less the year.
You are giving Moyes too much credit! He didn't even say trying to beat them, he was talking about making it difficult for them!

That'd be a good job for Moyes...he'd finish 7th every year, which would make Newcastle fans happy/excited the first year, content the second, and restless and angry by the third.

Also good for United because they would find someone to sell Fellani to

He'll probably be able to build a good team with the players Newcastle already has, along with a few signings. He would probably mold Newcastle into a very difficult team to play against

He'l be a good appointment. Will change them into a solid team given time and like Everton, provide a solid base for the future.

I don't think it's particularly a good fit myself. His success at Everton was down to keeping key players in the team and not selling them. He may be good with the small budget but if he's getting players sold every season like what seems to happen at Newcastle I can't see him having much success there really.

Apparently he had offers from 5 clubs in June but he wanted to monitor them for a year before making a decision and they've all found other managers now.

Surprised to see Newcastle fans supine in the process of the recruitment of if not actually clamoring for a man critically defined by the well attested confoundments of his limitations.

Dear god. He's become egotistical now.

One job he should stay well away from is the Newcastle job. There is no scope for genuine progress whatsoever. Even if he does well, stabilises the side and make some clever signings, Ashley will sell his prize assets at the drop of a hat.

The supporters will like him as they liked Pardew, then the best players are sold, the rot sets in, the supporters grow tired of the limited football and he finds himself finishing in 13th place every season on a road to nowhere.

If this job comes up and he takes it then he could well be finished at the European level of management.
