Rumor on the playground is that Martino will step down from Barcelona this summer. In which case we should move for Klopp now.
Screw it, just give him the £150m for himself!Rumor on the playground is that Martino will step down from Barcelona this summer. In which case we should move for Klopp now.
Are you one of the Glazers? Otherwise I don't know how you can guarantee it...Its funny that you lot are talking as if this is a realistic option. It doesn't matter how David Moyes performs for the rest of the season or even over the next year, he will be given 2 full years to have a crack. There is no way we would go back on our philosophy which we adopted when we appointed Moyes, otherwise we would appear fickle/rash and ultimately the same as everyone else, when actually a managerial change is the right thing to do. The reality is he is going to be here for a while yet and its going to get a lot worse before it gets good again. The trouble with that is we are sinking fast and there is a long way to go with the rate we are falling.
Ultimately a new manager is needed but I guarantee we wont be getting one for at least 18 months.

He's Fergie's formula! He's got to know something we don't, right? Are you one of the Glazers? Otherwise I don't know how you can guarantee it...
Well we could've got Mourinho last year, so we do have a fair bit of pull still.Said it plenty of times on here but it's sheer arrogance to think Klopp will come to United. He simply isn't leaving Dortmund this Summer, regardless of how hard to turn down some people believe United to be.

With the majority of those in football it is. However some have loyalty and Klopp appears to be one of them. Think it's 2016 he has said he will stay to and I'd be surprised if he leaves before that and amazed if it's this season.Surely life is just like a video game though.
Just offer more money.
Would we all take Klopp with no money to spend over giving Moyes 100m? I know I would.
It's not going to happen. Unfortunately, he's an ambitious guy who seems to intent on making his stamp at Dortmund and not giving up on them.
Search your feelings, you know it to be true.Or so some believe.

I'd take Klopp having to sell players for 50m over Moyes spending 150m
yes
Surely he has a price, surely we'd be better off with Klopp than Mata and Fellaini right now.
He's not after money though. He is a man of his word and has said he will stay at Dortmund. He turned down money in the Summer and will do the same.
I still think everybody has a price, perhaps 5m a year isn't enough to tempt him, what about 10m, 15m, 20m?
I'd rather give him the 300k a week than Rooney.
Wenger never had us or another team in the league pilfering his best players though. Well, not until recently anyway.I think he views Dortmund as HIS project and don't think money, or more money, is overly important. Similar to Wenger really, hasn't be always been rumoured for Madrid and in more recent times PSG?
Van Gaal would be a good appointment, he would get United playing good football and pretty much argue with every person who he sees eventually though. Be entertaining though.

I'd agree that's it's unlikely, but I struggle to see how it's arrogant of us to ponder the possibility. We need someone with the personality and mentality capable of managing a club as vast as ours, Klopp is one of the few that fit the bill.
Some of the suggestions like Martinez and especially Pochettino are laughable. They pretty much have the same drawback that I saw when we appointed Moyes, i.e. never having managed at the level of United. Not to mention that Pochettino is yet to complete his first full season in English football.
If we do get rid and go for someone else, it has to be someone who is pretty much the anti-Moyes. Someone who plays good football, has atleast been involved in a title race and has experience at a bigger club than Everton/Southampton.
I dont like Van Gaal. He's a good manager but he's too argumentative.
Yeah bit of a loose cannon but then again thats why we picked Moyes over Mourinho.![]()

Van Gaal doesn't really like spending. In case Modric becomes available, he probably would say, Cleverley is just as good, we don't need ModricSaying that, Id rather see Van Gaal spending 150m then Moyes. The thought of Gollum raiding Everton still haunts me during the night.
Van Gaal doesn't really like spending. In case Modric becomes available, he probably would say, Cleverley is just as good, we don't need Modric. And yes, I'm serious. Bayern basically forced Robben on him, because the team was playing incredibly shit. When rumours about Madrid offering a lot of money for Schweinsteiger came out, he said in an interview that Bayern should sell him, his clubs always made money with transfers and were successful anyway. When the rumours about Neuer appeared, he stated publicly that he doesn't need him, Kraft is just as good.
I'm really thankful for what van Gaal did at Bayern, he made all our players better, teached them basic tactical concepts they clearly didn't know before. But you can't let him make all the decisions regarding transfers on his own, I can't think of a top manager with a worse record. His signings at Barca were shockingly bad, the players he brought to Bayern were sold within two years. The mix between the players, Hoeneß/Rummenigge signed, and the youth players he brought into the first team, was brilliant. He knows his stuff, for example he said in 2010 that Alaba will be a worldclass leftback and that we shouldn't sign Coentrao. But at a big club, he definitely needs a director of football, who isn't afraid of telling him he's wrong, someone who understands the game and brings in a few top class player at the right moment.
