WWC19 | Final: USA v Netherlands

You're not making any sense though.

What do you mean today feeds into that perception? The ref getting all the decisions correct?

You're just making excuses for the Cameroon players acting so stupidly.

But that’s the point of VAR so those marginals are called correctly.......and they were.

There's no discussion to be had on it. It's wrong, entirely wrong. Imagine if every nation behaved in this manner? Unless Cameroon can approve international football with a lot more maturity, they shouldn't be playing international football.

Like I said,
That’s why I said rightly or wrongly. For today it will just be confirmation bias from most parts. I know all decisions today were correct but Cameroon social media is already going crazy accusing FIFA of being bent. The few reasonable voices trying to speak reason aren’t being heard.

It’s all about the accumulation.

Refereeing has been shit but Cameroon looked as though they were following the coach's instructions to hit the English women hard. That tackle on Stef was horrendous.

Terrible game, officials

Like I said,

It's impressive you can watch that match where Cameroon players were spitting and elbowing and stamping and pushing the ref and walking off in protest at a correct decision.

And come to the conclusion Cameroon will feel hard done by.

It's remarkable.

@Fanatic 00237 you need to take off your rose tinted goggles for your team. You guys got the decisions today, should have had 2 reds, a penalty against you and you're still moaning about the great anti Cameroon conspiracy ffs.

One thing this game has shown through VAR is how inept this referee is.

Missed an elbow, missed a blatant red there, missed spitting, allowed an entire team, including the captain, to kick off at her multiple times with visible displays of dissent, and has barely done anything about it.
There was a booking for the elbow.

The spitting wasn’t intentional. (I promise you, it wasn’t)

I think the dissent was allowed to prevent the match from spiralling out of control.

The think the ref was OK. She did her best to keep most of the post-match discussion more about the players’ poor conduct than about her.

I'd like to know how:lol:

@Fanatic 00237

Still think this is justifiable? Should be banned from the next tournament. What an utter disgrace.

Screaming in their opponents faces while a player lies down hurt on the ground, classless fecking thugs.
No, I think they have lost their heads now. Nothing justifies that behaviour there.

I think the ref can safely pack her bags. Don't think she'll be reffing any further matches at this WC.

Entertaining game, ive seen much worse. Ban them from the next tourney? This isnt cricket ffs.

Come back when you've been eliminated from a world cup on yellow cards.;)

Certainly in 1990 Lineker went down easily for one of the penalties but come on that's like England moaning about Hand of God if they get a bad decision in this WC.

I’m not in the UK so the channel cut over to women’s judo in Minsk. What did Phil say?

The booking was a horrendously incorrect call. It's a red any day of the week.

She spat forward at a player that had been stood directly in front of her for more than long enough to be noticeable. It was also a potential red.

"The dissent was allowed to prevent the match from spiralling out of control"? Have you read that sentence?

The match spiralled out of control precisely because of the dissent. When the Cameroon team were all going mad after England's second, surrounding the referee, pointing at the screen and their eyes, and refusing to take kick-off, she could, and should, have booked the entire team for time-wasting at the very least, and could have booked half of them for dissent. Had she started getting her cards out, they'd have had to calm down and wouldn't have been going nuts in the second half because of a correctly disallowed goal.

Just said the Cameroon team were out of order, it's a disgrace and it's being broadcast all over the world and showing the women's game up. Proud of England girls for showing professionalism and mentioned Cameroon actually had run of the green regarding the pen not given and a red card not shown. Said every team is constantly briefed on the rules so they shouldn't be complaining like they did.

Good lad Neville.
Tbf, the English ladies kept their cool and that in itself could be valuable as they move on. Not that I’d expect to see a repeat of the antics today :nervous:

They didn't ban the men's side after they kicked Argentina to defeat in 1990! Double standards because it was Argentina eh?

Yeah this isn't cricket, it's totally ok to put in potential career ending challenges, threaten to walk off when correct decisions are made, and then scream in players faces for being down when they're injured.

They acted like absolute fecking clowns and brought the game in to disrepute.

Cameroon should be ashamed of themselves. Way to set an example for all the kids watching with their thuggery and shithousery and great job in perpetuating the angry black women stereotype whilst also simultaneously playing the race card when things don't go their way.

What the hell was the Cameroon player yelling at the England player who was on the floor after that horror tackle. She needs to rewatch that rake down the ankle and foot a hundred times and maybe ask her teammate do the same thing on her and then she might understand?

Thought England played well, passed it around, some good finishing again. Bronze and Parris did really well.

Cameroon a disgrace today. What an embarrassment!

The ref equally poor.

Worst thing about this World Cup has been the officiating. Not sure why some male officials can’t help out this tournament given there seems to be very few female refs with decent experience of not only VAR but football at this level.

Hard to ban them from next tournament though, some of those numpties won't even make it into the squad, and it will hurt the development and chances for their younger generation.

Cheers!

Found this on Guardian...

Neville: “It didn’t feel like football. It was a good win, we played OK.

“That wasn’t football in terms of the behaviour. This is going out worldwide! I didn’t enjoy it, my players didn’t enjoy it.”

“There are young girls out there seeing that behaviour and it’s not right.”

How much sympathy did you have for them? “None!”

“I think the referee took pity on them as we should have had a penalty and them a player sent off.”

“I am proud of my players for having discipline and going out and playing football.”
