WWC19 | Final: USA v Netherlands

I dunno with this. Pen? No pen?

Either way, Japan should bee devastated if they lose this.

How on earth can you get your arm out of the way from 2 yards when the ball is fired at you?

No you feck off that is so stupid I don't want to hear the handball rule is fair ever again if that gets given.

Ruining games. Absolutely destroying them.

Actually go do one that is horrendous this rule needs to feck off.

Brutal that. Netherlands very fortunate given how much on top Japan have been this half. Still, Japan have had the chances - they have to be converted.

highway robbery on the balance of play

I thought the shot was possibly going in though, innit?

Sadly it's not a robbery, because that is the stupid rule.
Nothing you can do against this. They need a solution for this.

Can't wait for all the people who think that's totally fair and players should just walk around like cardboard cutouts all game.

When you're defending in moments like that you basically have no control whatsoever over your arms. It's not intentional. It's been smashed at her from about a yard away.

The rule is utterly absurd, complete nonsense, and the PL should be looking at changing it before it ruins PL games. I can't wait for huge matches to be decided by someone slamming balls in to people from close range.

So dumb.

This really shouldnt be a penalty. Different to what we've seen in the CL. Really close, she didnt even have the arm stretched much and pulled it away.

Aaargh this is so frustrating. It’s completely ruining football. Already changed the outcome of a CL knockout tie and the potential outcome of the CL final, now this once again.

Just imagine this happens to your country in the WC Final. The people who invented this absurd rule change should fear for their lives.

The easiest thing to do is ensure it has to be a certain amount of yards away if it's not a deliberate handball. Seems like you can just pelt it in the box and hope for the best.

100% this. I’m not even invested in this game and it’s so fecking frustrating.

Really feel for Japan here, the Dutch go through undeservedly.

Japan played the best football in this game, unlucky they are going out.

On the other hand, Japan had enough chances to finish the game. Japan was better but if you don't score then the other team eventually will.

This handball rule is stupid. It makes it so easy for the attacker to gain a advantage from nothing shots. It should result in a indirect free kick if there's no intention from the defender who can't do anything about it. The rule is ruining games and creatinga massive influx of penalties that would never have been given before...

Blocking a shot with your arm out is a penalty.

I don't get all this "current regulations" for this particular incident. That's always been a stick on clear as you fecking like all day stonewaller penalty.

I've seen them given whatever rule you use, tbh. Harshly possibly, but it was a fierce shot on goal that got blocked.
