Congratulations to England, a convincing and well deserved (obviously) win, and their best game of the tournament so far. Norway will still be content with our overall performance in this championship. Qualifying against the Netherlands was big for us in itself, and beating Nigeria, South Korea and Australia, and being within shooting distance of France, is good enough for us, particularly when lacking our best player.
Against England the girls looked decidedly nervous, particularly close to the goal lines, with hestitation/panicky shots in the one end and very uncarachteristic havoc defending from the otherwise very solid duo of Mjelde/Thorisdottir.
That said, England’s attacking combination play was much too quick and fluent for us at times, Bronze, Parris and White opened us up time after time. England was better than us at almost every aspect of the game. Ingrid Hjelmseth, our goalie, was our player of the match, Graham Hansen much too alone and easily taken out by two English defenders.
I did miss Alex Greenwood though.
