WWC19 | Final: USA v Netherlands

Never a penalty. It was the striker inadvertently hit the defenders foot.

This is ridiculous. VAR is for clear and obvious mistakes. Taking so long to make a decision which is still debatable is a joke.

Ok we lost to Panama? England didn't qualify to the Euro in 08. Netherland in the past 2 major tournament? Whats your point? It is obvious football is growing in America SUBSTANTIALLY and that bothers certain people (Particularly the English I dont know why).

Like I said if football became the main Sport in the United States tomorrow within 20 years they would be one of the top footballing nations. The talent pool here would be too big.
That won't happen which is why the process will be longer. But it will happen but people have to be Realistic.

Look at the woman game where it Is prioritized and they are so far ahead any other nation in that respect.

They’ve got a massive head start in the women’s game though. Girls have only recently started playing football in England on a large scale. Argentina’s side were given something like 5 dollars a day expenses from their FA for this comp! There’s been a major lack of competition.

They’re not that much further ahead from the few games I’ve seen in this comp either.

I do agree with the idea that an America that took football seriously would be a major force though, it’s pretty obvious. The population size and infrastructure.

Have to say whoever is betting on penalties in last 15 minutes has made a goldmine in this tournament. Was going to but too slow, was 16/1.

FFS. Surely Ellen White should be taking these.

What are the the odds we have more games with pens in this coming season that without?

Woeful pen.

Justice

Because once you open the VAR can of worms it can't be closed. People are not going to tolerate any mistakes or wrong decisions. Instead of VAR I would have hoped they would focus on better training of officials, maybe adding extra refs, 2-3 teams plus linesmen. The feel of the game is just different now, all these delays.

Yep it’s all messsed up now. Flow has gone. Well it was good while it lasted

Never a penalty. It was the striker inadvertently hit the defenders foot.
The striker is looking to strike the ball. The defender clipping the strikers foot stops her from striking the ball. It's a clear pen.

Would you say that about goal line technology?

What if United missed out on a league because of an offside goal, but it was 29cm? Even the clear and obvious phrase worlds for it. It is a clear and obvious mistake because offside is offside and it’s not a subjective call.
I'm a supporter of VAR but that is a terrible comparison. The technology involved isn't even close to the same. Goal line tech is way more precise.

The England captain who stepped up to take the penalty, choked big time.
