If Real appoint Poch, that's the tbd of Ronaldo imo.
He's the kind of my way or high way kibd of coach.

fecking hell. Yes Lord Pep created possession style football. Plenty of teams have played this style and used a press, maybe not so effectively (because they didn't have peak Xavi, Iniesta and Messi) but to say he created it is so far removed from reality it's not even funny. The one thing I will credit him with his getting his teams to accept injecting performance enhancing drugs as the norm.
Could argue Keane and Scholes were the best midfielders in Europe at certain points in their careers. Giggs, Beckham, Stam, Irwin, Cole, RvN, Veron, Giggs, Stam, Schmiechel, Kanchelskis, Ronaldo, Tevez, Rio, Vidic, Rooney...He wasn't exactly working with slim pickings now.
Not taking anything away from Fergie, wouldn't swap him for anyone, nor am I trying to blow smoke up Zidane's arse. My point wasn't really meant to be directed towards anyone here either
My point pretty much was, how come Zidane is not talked about as the 2nd coming, as Guardiola was, when they both had two seasons under their belt in their careers?
Why is Zidane not talked up more? Why is his achievements just given a nod of, "meh yeah whatever" by the same people who think Guardiola is some sort of Messiah?
Not sure everyone here is fluent in Catalan though.
Good point, but I don't think many people bother reading the horrible automated translations when they're longer than a tweet.I would be shocked if most weren’t long familiar with translating apps/extensions
They went from being mediocre to winning 6 trophies in 12 months. How much could they have aged in 12 months? A year. Iniesta was 23, hardly a teenage youngster.
There's no doubt Pep deserves credit for changing the party environment and adding structure, but this was a team that barely lost to United in the CL final. The front 3 iirc was Eto, Messi and Henry, I mean what team right now has a front 3 that compares to that? Maybe Barca of 2 years ago with Suarez, Messi and Neymar? Zidane came in to a similar situation, extremely talented team that just needed balance. Pep's a great manager when he has his type of players but as we all saw last season he's no SAF. He's not going to get you titles by improving what he has available. We will find out more about Zidane once he leaves RM.Barca hadn't won anything for 2 years when Pep arrived
In the season before he was appointed people were saying the B team was coached better than the main team
It was clear to see Guardiola wasn't just a normal manager at Barcelona B
He cleared out Deco, Ronaldinho, Zambrotta and Thuram retired
He had anything but a ready made team and brought in Busquettes from the youth team
He started the Barca era of dominance nothing was easy for him in his time there
Actually over 2 seasons, Zidane won 7 trophies and Pep won 8
Zidane did nothing with the Castilla side while Pep won the 4th division
Never won a treble
Never won 6 trophies over a season, translating to winning every competition they entered
Over 9 Clasicos, RM won only once against Pep - with Zidane over 4 Clasicos, they won only once as well
One created a memorable style of play that defined an era, the other will not & will most certainly be out of a job before year 3 of their tenure
Just saying...
That was the end of Rijkaard's cycle. Simply put he'd lost the playersThey went from being mediocre to winning 6 trophies in 12 months. How much could they have aged in 12 months? A year. Iniesta was 23, hardly a teenage youngster.
They were very much mediocre as a team, not individually. Not a much different situation from us this season really(or under Benitez)They did improve a lot but it gets overstated how bad they were in the season before Pep arrived.
I was just about to post the same thing.I mistakenly clicked on the zidane thread expecting to read about actual zidane, only to found the same pep is god yadda yadda we get to see every 2 days in this forum
My bad.
With @FCBarca Pepism must go down our throats eventually.I was just about to post the same thing.
Seriously. This place nowadays reeks of 'pepism'. Yes, he is the 'inventor' of beautiful football and every other manager is shit. Yes, players play for him without any renumeration. Yes, he can do no wrong. Yes, he has created the 'greatest' team in the 100 odd years of english football history.
I mean do we have to be fed these 'facts' as benitez would say, again and again? The way these barcelona players and fans talk about this guy, it feels the entire club and their fans are in the business of brainwashing people into thinking that his way is the right way. So I think it's best that we don't bring up any counter-arguments when these cules(or whatever these barca boys are called) say that he is the best ever. It's best to ignore and speak about what the topic that the thread intended.
Both Messi and Iniesta were too young to make a mark under Rijkarrd as they did from then on. If you believe either won't have been as good without Pep then I would disagree with that 100%.
Legend. Three seasons, three CLs in a row. Incredible achievement.
Make that a hat-trick. What a legend of the game, yet strangely still underrated whilst everyone creams themselves over Pep.
Is he? What’s Pep done in Europe without Messi? Last time he won the CL was the year after Jose who many are quick to call yesterday’s man.Because Pep Guardiola is the better manager? Great achievement even with the jammy scenarios. What Zidane does so well is get the best out of his players by keeping them happy and motivated, he's no tactical genius but I suspect the aura he carries as a great player helps him a lot.

True but it’s still important considering he took over a treble winning side at Bayern and a Sheikh’s plaything at City.Luckily for him he we don't judge managers solely on what they do in Europe.
