Newcastle United vs. Manchester United

Rooney's got the first touch of a rapist.

You mean the touch of a rapist

'First touch of a rapist' implies that the first time a rapist touches you its bad, but the rest are fine. When in reality it only gets worse from there.

Rafael on, Giggs off. Put Valencia on the wing, Park in the middle. He's already been all over the middle anyway. Then Nani out left. Maybe get Berbatov from standing around teammates and staring at them.

HT - and first impressions
Ba keeps impressing, great work from Newcastle.
And I suspect it was a penalty.

Fortunately we've got a second half.

They're hassling the shit out of Carrick, he has no room to work and as a result the result of our play is suffering.

Do we have any players that grow into games? As far as I can remember most of our players who start badly will play like that for the rest of the game. Rooney is a prime example, I cannot see his touch getting better or him improving in the second half.

Giggs.

I say Park or Nani off for Rafael and Valencia moved to right midfield. This is as dire as the first half against Blackburn. Until we got Tony V running at the Blackburn full back we created nothing at the weekend and we need to make the same change and get him on the wing where he can do some damage. Our midfield is sleeping at the moment and we've got no penetration. Rooney was dropped for training badly? Bloody well looks it based on that half. Berba hasn't been at the races but I don't blame him its hard being a striker with no service as we saw at the weekend with Chico. Giggs has played some really sloppy passes, its not enough to see the opportunities. Sure he may well be the only player we have available with that vision but he isn't completing the passes. Carrick has been marginally better but nowhere near what he was before being shuffled to centre back. Rio looks unsturdy too you can tell he's been out for a bit. All in all a sub par performance and with the penalty claim we're lucky its not 2-0...

Can't be arsed with United when we're like this.

Main qualms are with:

Nani - continuation of Blackburn performance. fecking useless. When he's in this mode, there's no point, he's not going to produce anything.

Ferdinand - he's regressed so much in terms of his on the ball play. He puts us under pressure again and again and again with his piss poor distribution from the back. In stoppage time at the end of the half, he riskily and unnecessarily did a Cruyff turn with Ba in close attendance. If you are going to be so extravagant, at least keep the ball short and on the ground with your next pass. No, just fecking hoof it up field. Okay, cool, fair enough.

Rooney - what an utter prick.

I think Newcastle has done well, credit to them their pressing is like what Barca did to destroy us...

I love 4-4-2 but when our wingers and CF's cannot keep the ball, I'd rather revert to a 4-5-1, just keep Rooney dropping deep and dictating play more... Both CF's that are on the pitch are good playing with the ball but none are good at playing behind the shoulder...

I think Hernandez will scare Collocini a bit more, we need movement up front, Rooney back to dictating play and somehow we need to play the ball a lot quicker along the wings and produce something...

Didn't have to be Mystic Meg to see all that coming, Ba with a goal - shock horror! Midfield getting overran (but to be fair Newcastle do have really good midfielders) Berbatov and Rooney working poorly together. Valencia sucking at full back. Park cutting in leaving Evra exposed.

Rooney off, Welbeck in.

Giggs off, Anderson in.

Let Berbatov drop deeper to create.

I'd switch Park and Valencia - he can't do any worse than Valencia at the moment and at least we'd utilize his stamina more and Valencia's speed better. Newcastle aren't exactly fast and Park is disciplined when told to be.

Rafael should of started from the beginning.

We miss Vidic in the air don't we? No way would he have been beaten to the ball by Ameobi for that goal.

The United I know will definately lose this game judging by how we played first half, can't remember last time we showed up a significantly more urgent team for second half. Newcastle are doing well in defence, really crowding the middle of the pitch right on top of defence.

I might be slated for saying this but a draw would be a surprise and therefore a terrific result for me.The team has been too shit in the first half

just been to pick my wife up from work and had talksport on , was the goal that good?
You would of though Ba had scored the best goal ever scored.
I cant put into words how much I hate Collymore :mad:

I think a few scousers could help you out there...

Call me crazy...as we're level on points as city, but I don't remember a United team this frustrating and boring to watch.

With the wages Rooney earn he should perform every game. It's not like us fans will feel sorry for him after what he did.

Pub player Wayne is back. Another 6 games before he resembles a footballer it is then? God I hope not.

It's like after the recent big wins, everyone's taken their eye off the ball, losing their focus AGAIN.

Thought we looked like we were rising more and more up to the goal... Poor since then.

Carrick was playing some beautiful composed football in the centre of the park, but we as a whole have been poor since.

Hopefully Fergie knows the right words.

Maybe Newcastle will tire and drop too deep? If they decide to hang onto this 1-0 with men behind ball we could score 1 or 2 ourselves.

If they continue to close us down all over the pitch, we'll be in trouble.

feck off, Valencia has been our best player.

Park will not get us goals, only Nani will so Park off imo.

This is like our away performances of last season where we struggled to get a hold of the game and just couldn't keep the ball or create decent chances.
