Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

You've got to hand it to the Mirror, they are sticking it to LFC like nobody's business but probably in danger of crossing the line. Poor Brian Reade. They'll be buying The Sun again in Liverpool at this rate.

Liverpool fan arrested after Oldham player abused in new Anfield race row

By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER

6th January 2012

Liverpool are once again at the centre of a damaging race row after a fan was arrested for allegedly racially abusing Oldham's Tom Adeyemi during the FA Cup clash at Anfield.
Adeyemi was visibly rocked by the abuse directed at him from the Kop and had to be calmed down by referee Neil Swarbrick and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and some of his own players.

Eye witnesses overheard one Liverpool supporter shout: 'You f****** black b******' towards the end of the 5-1 victory for the hosts.

So Klanfield now behaving in the fashion to what KKK Dalglish has unleashed. Or maybe its just cultural relevance ... thats just banter on merseyside .... didn't ya know?

I hope KKK realizes what he has done. He has given every genuine card carrying EDL/BNP member or closet racist the platform to use racist words and slurs and this will carry on all season now.

I hope the players abused can take it in their stride but I also hope Liverpool fans continue to play up to the stereotype. What a shambolic disgusting bunch of wankers.

Dalglish has so much to answer for .... what happens when a Liverpool fan is involved in a case of racila GBH or even worse at a violent after match rukkus which is now only a matter of time?

Liverpool are the new Millwall. feck me, what has happened up there?

feck me, what has happened up there?

King Kenny decided that one player was more important than the fight against racism.

No one is responsible for stoking the fans anger as much as Kenny the cnut and LFC in general.

If only they been more tact and dealt with the matter better.

They always talk about their history and going back 25 years. No one realised they meant about racism and not about trophies.

Liverpool statement:

Liverpool announced that no arrests had been made but confirmed in a statement they are investigating the incident with the Merseyside police.

The statement read: "An incident occurred in the second half of the match which is now being investigated by both the club and the police.

"We will continue to work closely with the police and establish the details of what actually happened and will make a further statement in due course."

A senior Liverpool official also told The Guardian: "We will do everything in our power to investigate the matter and ensure the appropriate action is taken."

This only goes to show what many on here said before. As a club Liverpool took a disgusting stance on events and it sets an extremely poor precedent. It is no surprise what happened. It is a direct result of the Suarez affair. I said before liverpool deserve punishment. If the club is not forced to backtrack and apologise for their behaviour regarding Suarez then these things will keep on happening. If they show no class or dignity as a club then why should their fans.

That doesn't read like a genuine LFC statement. They didn't blame us.

You really have to read between the lines to see what Evra has done wrong there.

Granted, LFC took a poor stance on this whole thing, but it's unfair to make an example out of this and put it on the entire club. This was just one racist prick who was a racist prick before Suarez said anything to Evra. If this happens again then you can start to draw lines between the 2 but for now it's an independent situation.

EDIT: I thought it was just 1 fan - was it a group of people?

Kenny Dalglish can't be blamed for the ignorance and idiocy of some Liverpool fans.

Ofcourse he can. They've fueled the flame for the last few weeks with this whole issue. Not to mention those ridiculous T-shirts that are being sold and bought by everyone.

Also of course the fan in question wont get then same blind, unquestioning support that Suarez received. A fan is dispensible. He'll be hung out to dry. No innocent until proven guilty for him. No chance theyll try and blame it on the oldham player who is obviously trying to damage the great lfc by making false accusations. Probably a poor, easily influenced, uneducated kid who actually has a legitimate cultural explaination for being an ignorant shit, and now could face national condemnation, perhaps even lose his job. Suarez, the poor multimillionaire football star was obviously more in need of love and support.

FFS This is worse than the five year old Evra story, some corners of the press are acting worse than Liverpool IMO.

True, but really, Fowler should have known better than to post that picture at this time.

This has all gone way too far now. The Liverpool fans could have tried to make a false case in defence of Suarez, but there's no defending what they've went and done now. What a bunch of muppets.

Liverpool have acted questionably to say the least over the whole affair, but they do not actively encourage their fans to shout racial abuse at people. Don't be so absurd, the guy was clearly a racist dumbass before the whole affair, even if he wasn't, it's his own fault for being so stupid.

Where do you think the idiot fan got the idea for wearing that T-shirt in support of Suarez from?

Regardless of what was or wasn't said, the reason it is a big story lies solely at Liverpool's door.

If the Suarez thing was nipped in the bud like it should have been, these occurences would be attributed to the minority of idiotic thugs as opposed to a representation of Liverpool Football Club.

I'm not passing judgement until we know more but I'm certainly not taking the word of a BBC 'journo' who happens to support Liverpool and is trying VERY hard to convince the Twitterverse that it was "Manc"... that's probably what he was shouting whilst the jokers in the Suarez t-shirts were racially abusing the lad.

Was his offence wearing a t-shirt, or chanting racial abuse?

I'm sure he is a grown man, perfectly able to be responsible for his own actions.

Racial abuse. Details are sketchy at the moment. But apparently he was wearing that T-shirt and shouting racial abuse.

But wearing the T-shirt does signify that he was being influenced by the club's actions.

Kenny Dalglish can't be blamed for the ignorance and idiocy of some Liverpool fans.

He can because he rallied the acceptance of a racial slur in the defence of his player, in turn getting the whole of Liverpool FC on the his side. In turn all its done is make fans angry and confused to the sensitivity of colored players. Seems extreme but true.

Well, the t-shirt is merely a question of morality. Racial abuse is against the law and never actively encouraged by Liverpool FC.

I'm not trying to suggest Liverpool haven't acted terribly, but they can't foot the blame for a man shouting racial abuse. Ultimately it's the guys own fault and he must take full responsibility for the crime of being a class A moron.

Of course it's ultimately his own dumb redneck fault, but there can be no denying that the club and Dalglish's stance over recent weeks/months has fans the flames of this type of shit.

Come on VIM, fans are easily led creatures. They might act thick but they can read between the lines very well when it comes to defending the club/player. There doesn't need to be a direct statement from LFC encouraging racism for the fans to read between the lines and be influenced by the soundbites/statements from the club.

Of course he can't be blamed for that, but are you saying it's just an unlucky coincidence?

Maybe, maybe not... maybe this guy in question always hurls abuse when he wants. Maybe Liverpool's behaviour has given him some fuel, but there is a line between acting immoral and actively breaking the law.

We're probably talking about a fully grown man here, no matter how much of a div he is, or how stupid his club has acted, to hurl racist abuse at people is never acceptable and it's 100% his own fault, nobody else's.

Liverpool have indirectly made racism less of an issue to their moron fans. You can say Liverpool can't be held responsible for one man's actions all you want but they've caused a shift in mentality amongst their supporters.

They have a responsibility that they neglected time and time again, all they had to do was come out and condemn the abuse some fans were hurling around online and say that the club finds such actions deplorable. But we all know that all Kenny is bothered about is defending his precious club and standing by the Liverpool football family, YAWN is apparently unconditional

A group of 3 called him a fecking black bastard, then when he reacted a chant of 'Suarez' spread through the Kop

I don't think anyone is absolving him by saying Liverpool have contributed to creating an atmosphere where this feckwit felt it was ok to voice his bile.

Obviously. Ultimately it is his fault.

However it isn't a coincidence that this happens after the whole Suarez affair and Liverpool's "soft" response to racism.

TBH I'm worried for Patrice the next time we are at Anfield. I think he's in for some horrible abuse. Really really horrid stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if SAF doesn't play him like he's done with Rooney at Goodison.

Do ye reckon it happens all the time and it's just the current climate which made Adeyemi react?

I've thought this. Maybe the Evra case has shown players who have been racially abused before that they can speak up about it.

Granted, Liverpool have not actively encouraged racial abuse by their fans; however, a simple statement decrying such abuse wouldn't have gone amiss...and that's the problem.

I've thought this. Maybe the Evra case has showed players who have been racially abused before that they can speak up about it.

There was a tale on BBC radio weeks back about a reserve player in a league 1 side who had been racially abused and chose not to report it as it would mark him as a trouble maker. That story has been in my head throughout this whole thing.

I was talking to a Liverpool supporting mate about ten minutes ago. Same bloke has been spouting all sorts of rubbish throughout this saga......straight away he pipes up that the fan/fans in question should be banned for life.

He still doesn't see where he has gone wrong here. Willfully ignorant, springs to mind.

By saying nothing about abuse offline & on social media, LFC have effectively given their fans licence to act how they want - this is either because the club is badly led, or because their attitudes are every bit as outdated as they've appeared to be in recent weeks.
