Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

Apparently that's the third time SAF has watched Lille in person according to The Times.

SAF would not watch a prospective player outside of the PL personally if he was not seriously interested ... and Im guessing our scout in France will have been tracking him for a full 12 months, including looking into his temperament and private life personality to check he fits 'the united mould'.

SAF has as good an eye for young players and their latent potential as good as any in world football. Yes, some don't make the leap, but is the boss is convinced, then so am I.

feck off Ogden, that's the sloppiest piece of trash I've read in a while.

He has incredible ability but whenever I've seen him (granted not a huge amount), he tends to drift in and out - I think Goetze would be a better option. I suppose it's always going to be an issue when signing young players.

Still never going to complain about signing a potential world class talent - would compliment Carrick well I think.

Probably never happen though.

You're not the first person I've heard say that . Fergie does value consistency of effort, as Johnny Giles would say.

United are emerging as favourites to secure Hazard's signature following comments he made to the French press.

When asked if a move to Old Trafford would interest him, Hazard told La Voix du Nord: "Of course, this a club that excites anyone.

"For now my focus is on Lille but yes, it is a pleasure to be watched by one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best."

Not to mention that Goetze isn't a central midfielder, right?

If the press is to be believed, we were interested in Gaitan a year back an a few months back we had agreed terms with him for a summer move.
They talked about it like it was a done deal.

Dont believe anything. Its all made up.

I think with a lot of the more skilful, 'tricky' players they tend to overdo the flicks, tricks, runs etc - Ronaldo is the prime example. It was only after he realised (or it was coached) that with his strength/power and speed, being more direct was a much more productive option.

What I see with Hazard is somebody who can do ridiculous things with a football and he wants the world to know it. Not a bad thing necessarily and he's no different to most youngsters but I'm no expert - he didn't win League 1's player of the year for nothing.

Didn't know that. Lets not be over critical. If we rule out Goetze, who else would the Cafe prefer? Exciting times.

This is going to be like the Sneijder saga all over again isn't it? :(

Player in his peak demanding huge wages while constantly whoring himself out in the media despite his terrible injury record?

I don't think it will be.

I'd guess that if we don't have it wrapped up before the summer we won't be doing it this transfer window.

Start of this summers mega muppet thread!

Well, if we are really interested i expect it to be wrapped up very quickly. The longer it drags on the more unlikely that we would get him. Based on our recent transfer activities.

You watch. Media will spin this to the dying minutes of the window.

So is he better than Nani, one of the areas that concerns me about him is his decision making, but have no idea what Hazard is like with his passing etc

From what I've seen in relation to the Ligue 1 and even some portions of CL matches,Hazard's decision is easily better than Nani's.He's the type of player who when he sees gaps, he can play dangerous through balls.Nani doesn't do enough of them.I think Nani is better than him when it comes to dribbling and creating his own space (although Hazard is good at that).

I've said it before and will say it again.. Twice I've been stunned by a player when I saw them make their debut. The first time was Cristiano Ronaldo for United, and the second time was Eden Hazard for Belgium at age 17. I don't know if he'll be as good as Ronnie, but he surely has enough ability to be a worldbeater. I would be very excited if he was to sign for us in the summer.

This will be like the sagas of Ozil, Sanchez, Sneijder and Nasri all over again. I can't see us spending over 30m on a player anymore, let alone a young-ish midfielder

Cool. I hope this will be your last post in this thread as clearly we won't sign him.

Hazard is the more talented but gaitan will fit better with united's squad>team>individual philosophy.

What do you mean by this?

A. Hazard has a huge ego and would not be able to deal with being rested for some games.

or

B. Being an inferior player, Gaitan would fit better in this squad as we don't really have room for the best players only a team full of "squad players".

Either one I'd say is complete shit. A. If Ferguson can manage Ronaldo's ego in a rotated team, he can manage any ones. and B. United has a history of world class players, so stop talking nonsense.

What's his role in the national team? Likely to play a big part at the Euros?

Belgium didn't qualify unfortunately. Never watched Belgium play, but he lines up out wide in a 4-3-3 on Fifa :p

Yeah a pity Belgium isn't at the Euros this year as we could use the opportunity to actually see how good or hype he is, but my oh my they do have some talented players that they could be a force at the world cup in Brazil. Gut feel though, we won't sign him

He's usually put on the wing (left or right doesn't matter to him), but he cuts inside a lot. The best game I saw of him was when he was playing more through the middle rather than staying on the wing. If you put him on the wing and tell him to stay there, you would limit him. He's the kind of player that will go where his instinct tells him to go.

Indeed; the last series of transfer windows basically since Berbatov has badly beaten down my muppetry to the point that I can't imagine how we'll ever sign anybody ever again, let alone someone hyped/in demand.

But now we apparantly have quotes from one of the lead muppet-fantasy targets encouraging us to allow ourselves to dream once more; that all things might be possible and indeed dreams can come true. Even that this situation just seems like the latest in a series of links that have included clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs recently doesn't deter this re-newed feeling of hope. And it is the hope that ultimately kills you.

Muppetry season starts earlier every summer...

I am at a loss as to where Sir Alex sees Hazard fitting into the side. He's a great player from what I've seen but clearly a wide forward and unless he is planning to dump one of Young, Nani or Valencia I don't see how the signing would make sense. I feel the same way about Gaitan.

Talented players improve squads and the more of them you can get the better its true. However, if we want to make a buy shouldn't we make a buy to reinforce the midfield area? Giggs and Scholes who've played there most will retire soon and while that would leave Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson and Pogba the latter three have a lot of development to do (despite how much I rate Pogba) and the injury history of Anderson particularly isn't great. Hazard is brilliant but I don't see what problem he solves and surely you buy necessities before luxuries?

He could be brilliant in a 3 man midfield like Silva or Mata

Can't believe my Transfer Giddyness has started this early. It's going to become a fun summer.

That is until City find the chequebook and lures him in.

Unleash your inner muppet. Call me crazy but I reckon we will sign him, but I'm always an optimist.
