Shinji Kagawa

Kagawa is a class above Bale. Player of the season last year in Germany, and one of their most important players in their title winning sides, and the teams that have dismantled Bayern Munich. Technically superior, and very intelligent. Meanwhile, what has Gareth Bale achieved? A player of the year, which was largly down down to the media spotlight after Inter Milan, despite that he wasn't even the best winger in the country, let alone player of the year. Give me Kagawa over Bale every day of the week.

You could ask every football manager in the world who'd they rather have - Bale or Kawaga - and 99.99% of them would say Bale. I can say that with confidence, even having not seen much of Kawaga play.

If you believe otherwise, then it's you who is the retard.

Don't really know who this Kawaga bloke is, but thank god we got Kagawa then.

Kagawa a class above Bale? Well I couldn't disagree more, and I really cant understand all the hype over Kagawa, I also just watched the match against SS to see what all the fuss was about and feel the same. I was much more exited after watching Jones on his debut last year.

I do hope I'm wrong though.

You've been against the transfer from day one though, even though you said you hadn't even seen him. Still gutted about Hazard?

Would I have preferred we signed Hazard regardless of fees wages etc? is that the question? then yes.

Why though, have you watched Hazard playing for Lille? I didn't. I watched him for Belgium against England though and last night against MLS allstars, don't get the fuss, so he mustn't be that good.

I had barely seen any of the 2 players before we signed Kagawa. Hazard a couple of times for Belgium and Kagawa against Bayern in the German cup final. Kagawa impressed much more

Either you are blind or don't know shit about football.

Why don't you watch the German cup final against Bayern, rather than a pre-season friendly (in which he was the best player on the pitch), he was brilliant there. And how can you not understand all the hype? The second he stepped on the pitch for us, regardless of the fact that it was a friendly, he looked a class above every single player on the pitch apart from Scholes. Also you can just tell that Scholes trusts Kagawa more than most of the other players, in that game against Shanghai he passed it to Kagawa loads of times, even if he was in a tight spot because he knows that Kagawa has the ability to make something out of nothing.

It's quite daft to say that you don't understand the hype around Kagawa when he led Borussia Dortmund to a league and cup double this season, when he scored 17 goals and assisted 13 last season. Those are brilliant stats, and don't forget that he is only 23. Just because he was signed for cheap, doesn't make him a worse player. If his contract wasn't running out next year than I'm sure he would have gone for probably more than 25m.

I'm not going to argue mate. I have yet to see why people feel Kagawa is God sent. I have already said that I hope I'm wrong, I would also love to see the next Japanese Zidane in our team but so far I think he is being over hyped.

Fair enough. I personally think it's crazy how, if you've watched Kagawa play, you don't think he's all that. He's clearly quality. I know it's friendlies, but that's all we have to judge him on so far for United, but he was comfortably our best player in both matches. Nobody think he's going to be the next Zidane or anything (different positions anyway) but literally everyone who has watched him playing for Dortmund thinks he's brilliant. It's a strong league too.

You're so fecking annoying it's unbelievable.

It's absolutely retarded what people say at times, he basically said, "I've never seen him play but there is no way he is better than Bale"
Do people even read what they say at times? How can he be so sure having never seen him play.

For what it's worth I would much rather have Kagawa than Bale, firstly because United already have 2 wingers that are better than Bale and secondly because Bale has never shown anything close to consistent form. Brilliant winger on his day but that day comes pretty rarely, and he has been shut down loads of times.

Lets hope I'm wrong then (which I probably am seeing as I'm a major minority here), after all we both support and love the same team and I would obviously want Kagawa to be all that. ;)

Glaston taking stupidity to a whole new level. 99.9% of manager yeah would pick bale?

Kagawa was THE best player in the Bundesliga last year.

You mentally retarded feckwit!!

I shouldn't laugh though really, it must be hard knowing that one of the best side Spurs have ever had is still not good enough to finish ahead of one of the poorest Arsenal sides in recent history. That kind of shit is enough to tip anyone over the edge. Enjoy your fight for fourth again next season ;)

 I think its clear who the retard is here.

I don't get it though. Nobody said that Kagawa was godly. Everyone was basing it on how they had performed in their respective leagues and on the European/International stage and in terms of productivity they are of similar results, with Kagawa coming out on top. It was as if Bale was untouchable more than Kagawa. If you saw Kagawa you'd realise that he can do things Bale can't because of their respective styles in play. You saw how terrible Bale was when he was given that free role - terrible. Can Kagawa do that? Yes.
You saw what Bale can do when he hits and runs - excellent. Can Kagawa do that? No.

Two quality players in their respective positions and both players that would bring a similar amount of influence to a team.

Kagawa is a class above Bale. ...

In the space of 2 hours, Kagawa has gone from being better value at 13m than Allen at 15m (see the Allen thread), to then allegedly being in the same class as Bale ... and now finally he's "a class above".

And all before he's even kicked a ball in the Prem.

Give it another 30 minutes and he'll be right up there with Messi ....

Anyhow, there I shall leave it, since he's your player and the relevant posts are no longer part of the transfers or general discussion areas.

Happy hyping fellas.

You say Bale is one of the best players in his position. In my opinion Kagawa is up there with the best in his position as well. I don't think you can argue with that.

In fairness, that's not what he's saying. He's not saying Bale is a better player than Kagawa, he's saying he think that he'd be a more attractive buy than Kagawa because he's proven his quality on a higher level. And, to an extent, I agree with him. Along with that there's an abundance of tippy-tappy attacking midfielders whereas there's relatively little out and out wingers so that again makes him a more attractive player, without taking quality into account. When you do take quality into account it's a much less clear-cut thing but he's just refusing to...mainly because he can't. So even comparing the two of them on any level - despite knowing nothing of one of them - is a little ridiculous. And yet he's painting himself as some kind of voice of reason...

More than anything it highlights the level of disrespect shown towards the Bundesliga (and more recently the Serie A) and the arrogance of the PL supporters. For years you had Andy Gray and co. talking up the best league in the world™ but now that's no longer as easy to sell it's the usual 'the Premier League is a uniquely difficult league with it's own challenges and style, and not every player can adapt to it' nonsense. So basically any quality PL player is essentially 'better' than the best from Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue Un simply because they're 'PL proven'.

Kagawa will be one of many who highlights the stupidity of that way of thinking, but it won't change anything. You'll still hear the same old guff.

A hatrick against an Inter side of which Schalke put 5 past on their own turf. Bloody Schalke

And a Schalke team we annihilated over two legs. I don't rate Bales performance in that game like most people do.

Bale is the most over rated player in the premiership.

He's very good, but he's a class below Tony V, Mata, Nani, Silva, Di Maria etc.

Totally agreed. Besides, he shits himself in the games against the top 4. I don't remember him ever being a threat against us.

A Spurs fan going on about hype. The irony.

Nothing like building a player up! Lets wait and see eh boys, he looks a class player but lots of class players have flopped in the prem!

And to all the Bale haters, you are all crazy!! He's not in the very elite bracket but has shown more consistency than Tony V and even Nani in the last couple of years. Those that don't see that clearly have their red tinted glasses on!

as promising and exciting as Kagawa has looked maybe we should wait until he has played against better opposition before we deem him as better than whoever

early days and no point in heaping unnecessary pressure

Bale has been more consistent than Valencia? That's uber bollocks...He's probably been as consistent as Nani, at best.
