I imagine his thinking will be more in line with yours.
I do stand by my opinion on this though. We are not talking about accepting poverty to play football. We are talking about the difference between being very rich, and stupidly rich. If he dropped his wage demands he could still make a lot of money but he would be playing football. And I think that would help him in the longer term, as well, as I said. He tells SAF he isnt leaving, he will end up in the reserves for another year. And then what? We are only asking for a token sum for him, the reason people arent interested isnt because we want £5m for him, it is because of the wages, and because he isnt playing. Neither of those factors will have changed in a year, and the latter issue will be even more of a factor. No competitive football for 2 and a half years, that is the situation he will probably find himself in if he leaves it till next summer. It will be quite something to come back from that.
All of that is the important stuff. The less important issue is that the man presumably loves football, he should do what it takes to get back to that while he still can, make the most of the time he has left in the game. But that last bit I know is naive, which for me sums up what is what is wrong with the game.
