Berbatov | Fulham player

Sometimes I think you must be Johnno back, but you don't swear enough. You're not a Tevez love child or something are you? You just seem to have an unhealthy dislike of Berba

Dunno who was him. I liked Tevez as a player pretty much and he's the only ever player that I wanted at United before we were linked with him, and later we transfered him. At personallity he seems to be a cnut (or an idiot).

I don't have an unhealthy dislike on him. I don't know which of the arguments I mentioned are not valid. Tell me.

Berba is 31. I think most any club wants to pay for him is a few million tops. Hw ould want £5m a season so you are looking at around £15-20m investment over 3 years.

I can only see him leave on a free before the transfer deadline.

I don't see it being a free, that was the whole idea of triggering the one-year extension.

I honestly think Fergie thought a few people would be in for him at £5-10m. It seems however that given the remuneration package he is presumably looking for most teams are being scared off.

He'll probably slightly lower his demands and leave for £2-4m late in August.

That extension was another bad decision ontop of the first one to sign him. United should have sold him at the end of the 2011 season.

I don't agree with that. Back then, there was no guarantee that Welbeck was going to come good over the course of the season. Had he not done so which was a real possibility last year, then Berbatov would've become a lot more important for us all of a sudden.

I don't buy this there was no guarantee Welbeck was going to come good argument. There was no guarantee Hernandez was going to come good the year before, but it didnt stop him getting his chance. Why would it be any different with Welbeck? He surely wasn't named in the squad and not sent back out on loan to get no gametime.

There are no guarantees with any young player coming good, but i think it's fair to say that if there were strong indications Welbeck was ready, then we saw enough of them in his loan spell last season. Regardless of what we saw, is anyone really suggesting that SAF was surprised how well Welbeck would do? I doubt it very much seeing as he was predicting Welbeck to make the
Euro squad, which he did. Why would SAF make such a prediction unless he thought he would get enough games to prove himself worthy of a place?

Sorry if my disagreement with Noodle upset you. He gave as good as he got...he is a big boy.

Not sure how it affected you personally in any way though.

And not sure why any clubs have not gone after Berbatov yet either. I had suggested he may be asking for a 3 year contract and high wages which perhaps will deter any potential suitors.

What say you?

I was very cross with you too Randall . Noodle is lovely

Hernandez got his chances, yes, but we already had two quality strikers here in Rooney and Berbatov, both of whom were still generally regarded as the preferred strike partnership at the start of the season.

He was always going to get gametime, but I don't think Fergie was 100% sure that he would be good enough to start week in week out. He was clearly ready to get game time, but what would have happened if Rooney suddenly got a long term injury? Could we be sure that we would be able to rely on a player who hadn't fully proven himself yet for most of the season? There was a good chance that Welbeck was ready, but it was by no means a guarantee for us. It was a safer option for us to keep Berbatov.

Metro reckons Galatasaray are in talks with him. I really don't see a place for him in the side next season, especially if we are interested in Lucas as well. The only games he is going to start are against the last place sides and the cup games.

Keep him then.

I felt at times he should have been involved a bit more than he was last season. As much as I love Berba I'm not a part of the OH MY GODS HE COULD HAVE SAVED OUR GOAL DIFFERENCE brigade, but I feel he'd have made an impact for us in games like the loss against Wigan where we lacked anyone to temper the pace of the game.

Anyone know where Berbatov is? Wasn't involved on Wed and not part of the 26-July 'Photo Shoot.'

You'd think clubs would be absolutely chomping at the bit to sign him the way some people on here carry on about him. That doesn't appear to have been the case.

All the clubs know that we rarely get the deal we want when selling a player. They are just biding their time and know that can have him from us for nothing. The only deal (forget Ronaldo) where we have gotten a fair bit of sum is the Heinze deal. We are fairly hopeless when it comes to selling players.

Well he's clearly lacked the bollocks (mentality) to play for one big European club so why would another one take a chance on him?

Probably best to wait until the transfer window is closed before making wide reaching statements like that.....

Ultimately you aint got a clue where he'll end up, just like the rest of us....

Not biting on your other agenda....

His wages would be off putting to any mid level club like Newcastle and none of the top teams that can afford to pay his wages are interested in him. Be a bit like when we kept Dwight Yorke a bit longer than we wanted.

All the more reason to wrap it up as soon as possible to see off competition. Its not happening right now.

seems nobody is willing to build a team around him. Actually surprised Newcastle haven't had a sniff since they willing to part with 15 million for the Donkey™

Carroll would be an impact player off the bench. Berbatov scored 1 time in his premier league career off the bench

He certainly wouldnt start

I hope it's true for his sake. He needs to leave OT.

How unpredictable football is! I remember all the rejoicing on the Cafe when that photo of him shaking hands with Fergie in the last hours of the transfer window was posted. And now he's leaving through the back door, and we're all eager to be shut of him.

'It was roses roses all the way'

Yeah I agree completely. It's sad to see him go, as you can see he doesn't really want to go and loves playing for the club... but he just isn't in Fergie's current thoughts on United going forward, so it's best he leaves.

On a side note, I wonder if that opens the door a little more for the likes of van Persie?

he has a good record in England and Germany

I'd be amazed if someone doesn't take a punt on him

Age is the biggest factor to be honest. If he were 25 plenty more clubs would be interested and more willing to pay high wages. But at 31 and with no gurantee it'll work out, quite understandably he's not in great demand.

Yep, Wages is what it is. He's good enough to play a good role for any Prem club thats not United or City. But no one would want to pay his wages.
