Fair enough.

What is happening is that both of them, Nani last night and Val this season, are taking a little extra time before delivering the ball. This is helping the FB's get in position and put in the blocks. Neither Riise nor Nani and Valencia were very good last night. The Fulham team as a whole was garbage, TBH.

Nani was decent, managed a couple of good shots too. But overall his decision making left a lot to be desired. The problem is that I have seen it plenty of times, and it makes me doubt him.

Let's hope both of them get better, as we need them to hit some form. Wingers good form is essential to our style of play.

Yep, Valencia has been very hesitant all season. Needs far too much time on the ball which is very unlike him. Nani's just back so him lacking that edge isnt unsurprising. Riise was decent, helped by our wingers being around that level too, didnt get exposed much. Still cant call him poor as ac did though seeing as he did a decent job getting blocks in and stopping balls into the box.

Nani's always been someone who takes more risks than our other wingers, doubt that'l change. If they come off, it looks great otherwise he has to deal with the questions about his decision making. Thats fair enough i suppose.

It's obvious he's just not liked by many in the stadium, fecking retarded way to support your football team and a former Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year.

And some of us love to big up what great supporters we have.

Just a reflection of our fans in general, seen it on the caf too. He divides opinions like few others. That said, the least you'd expect is for fans to be sensible enough to not have a go at players during a match. That can help nobody.

We could really use him against Real. Being able to match class for class would be nice.

Yep, we'l need our wingers to be on form. Specially considering how good Marcelo is on the attack, i'd want mourinho to have an in form nani/valencia on his mind thus restricting his forward runs. Him and Ronaldo on the left are great to watch. An in form winger would not just help our attack immensely, it'l help our defenders too.

Again, how can you conclude something like that when he's played in 2 games in the last couple of months?

He tracked back very well yesterday, iirc, he was the one who chased back all across the length of the pitch to cut off a final ball on a counter. How is that a sign of a player who doesnt care?

How many times do I need to say I haven't formed my opinion over one or two games?

Some maybe. Not me. I have no problem with attacking players trying to create. I expect them to have the desire to play for the club. I'm not sure he has that at the moment.

Doesnt add up ac. Are you saying its after watching him over the past few seasons that you concluded that he doesnt have the desire to play for us at the moment? It doesnt add up at all.

It's not just based on two matches but from what we've seen from him in he last year or so. Like I said, I won't be surprised if Alex Ferguson is similarly harsh come summer time. I think he's fortunate we didn't get a winger in the summer. He's living on borrowed time and needs to make the most of it. I hope he does but if I was to put a bet on it I think he'll be playing elsewhere next season.

What ?? All this speculation about him leaving or not didn't start a year or so ago so how could you have noticed anything since then ?

I'm referring to a lessening in his desire. I could be wrong. We'll see hot it pans out. And the speculation has been for quite some time.

At the moment and for the past year or so. It adds up perfectly well.

There's no reason he shouldn't be starting. He did more within a minute of being on the pitch than most of the team did the whole match.

Absolutely. Also, his defensive work was really good also - no one bothers to try go past him because they know he has too much pace. His crossing is top class, and if he and Rafael can develop a proper understanding, then our right side can once more be lethal. Fergie needs to play him into form before we face RM!

He's our best winger and he really should be starting games. Put in one peach of a cross and did some very good defensive work and looked hungry and not at all "disinterested". I'm glad we've not sold him this window!

Not just that cross that was good, he put good through ball for Welbeck immediately after coming on, that was 2 good chances he created in first 2 or 3 minutes on the pitch.

And people who don't rate him defensively should rewatch last night's game.

He has work ethic but horrible end product in the crossing department.

Not at all, I would say on form he is one of our best crosser's but his greatest ability is him being to drift inside, put his head up and either take a shot or pick a pass, see him yesterday on the wing for example, he was in a position out wide, can't remember exactly when but instead of what I'm used to which is Young/Val recently who lump the ball in like you were in school and hope someone gets on the end, he looked up and calmly passed to Welbeck, who dragged it past his man and got shot away...

So with all the few matches he's had under his belt since his return, it's fair to assume he's close to his best fitness wise.I hope that he gets to start several matches in a row, it can only be good for him

He played a full game against Fulham at the weekend, I doubt his fitness is much of an issue. He's not exactly Anderson.

I actually joked with the guy next to me when we sent on Nani to help keep the ball, but it was a fantastic cameo. He put in the best cross of the night, did his defensive duties brilliantly (that slide tackle was immense) and, amusingly, randomly booted a Southampton player up in the air at one point.

He has to start at Fulham. Welbeck on the wing is just a complete waste.

I'm afraid you're right. Upon seeing the line-ups, I thought Welbeck would be more of a wide forward in a 4-3-3 but as the match went on, he acted as more of a winger and he just didn't perform very well. The way he hacked the ball clear and attempted unnecessary flicks was disappointing to see. He's got a better football brain than that.

good game from him - took on players, drfited inside but also hugged the touchline. The final touch was off from him in regards to his lay off passes and crosses but he looked a threat and we looked so much more fluid with him in the side.

Hope he gets a run of games now

He needs to sort out his crossing, othervise, good game, especially first half.

We play much better football with him in the side. Him just being on the pitch and in possession is massively unsettling for the opposition.

Felt he did well today. Its nice to have a wide player that can cut inside or attack down the line.

A minor complaint is that although he tracks back very well he does very little to stop the crosses from coming in

he was... Ok.

Overall our wingers are pretty inept this season.

At least Nani took some men on and attempted to create something, final ball wasn't quite there though.

This pretty much.
Had some bright moments but his final ball lacked at times. Need to get as many minutes under his belt as possible

Nani was far more than adequate today. Not top form, but you wouldn't expect it yet. There are still aspects of his game which leaves one frustrated, but you just have to accept that about Nani.
