Shinji Kagawa

What did Moyes say about Kagawa? Or are you just referring to the fact that Moyes has used him more recently?

What's with all the praise? Last time I posted in this thread I was attacked.
A certain segment of posters here seem to think this is Alex Ferguson Football Club or David Moyes Football Club. Fans incapable of formulating their own opinions, and, as such, blindly support the players who are in favour with whoever the current manager is. If the manager does not select Kagawa, then he is 100% correct, and you are not a true United supporter unless you agree with the manager and criticise the player.

I have always stood by Kagawa and said he is an electrifying player. Amazing that so many did not see it coming: play him consistently and you have a footballer who would not look out of place in Bayern's starting 11.

I have been proven mightily correct.

Me too... guess we're both within the half of Caf that Moyes isn't better than... :)

It was really pretty obvious that he's always been a class player. Hard to perform well when you hardly get a look in, and even if you do and play decent, you're on the bench in the next game. Add in how we played at walking pace before, used a very rigid formation before, wanted the wingers to get to the byline and cross it in always, it's pretty obvious that he'd struggle to show how good he is. He still kept possession better then the others and had a few great touches. He's playing with confidence now though and it's clear how good he is.

You act as if you are the only one, but in reality I think most fans saw that too.

Pogue dubbed me a 'Kagawa cheerleader' once. I guess unlike most, I have a keen eye to know who to sing and dance for.

I have the last laugh. Again. Let us celebrate.

Our best player today, hope it won't end with him being put on the bench for the remainder of a season because we need to play Young or Cleverley. With him, Mata, Rooney and van Persie we have incredible offensive potential.

I disagree with 90% of what he says, but he's right there. Most of the people who posted in this thread seemed to be against him and didn't rate him for whatever reason, always first to comment on any tiny mistake. They're nowhere to be seen now he's been given a proper chance though.

Fair enough if that's the case, I always figured it was a small but vocal group of people who didn't rate him highly.

Nah, the Kagawa haters has been flooding these parts since he arrived. Anybody claiming Kagawa is good has been ridiculed for thinking they know better than a professional manager etc etc.

Might have been just a few people dominating the thread, didn't really take notice. Around November/December time though all you saw in here was just pure negativity about him apart from a few people defending him. Definitely felt like the majority though.

I think he will be here next season, Moyes seems to be coming round to how good here is. If he was to leave football the only team i see him going to is Dortmund, but that would be for the CL and what was previously thought of not getting games here.

Well I think it rules out this nonsense that he's incapable of playing out wide as some people have suggested, blaming Moyes for some of his performances. While Kagawa should have been given more minutes earlier on in the season he also wasn't playing all that great when he did get an opportunity.

He played fine, no worse than our other wingers. They got chances, he didnt. He's been given lots of oppertunities recently and put in lots of very good performances.

Our best player in the Champions League this season:

Actually a great performance when you look at that, always picked out the right option, great touches, won his fair share of headers as well surprisingly. Just a great little player, can't believe so many were prepared to lose him.

I think it was Sahin who said that Kagawa plays football like an angel and you can see why he would say that. His balance and recovery after every movement and crispness is just a joy to watch. It'd be a shame if we can't make use of him let alone make him realize his potential and talent.

Moyes man management is absolutely awful this season though. Kagawa clearly needs a run of game, he needs to feel trusted. And we all see how good he is when that's was given, AM position or not.

Fergie, while not always play him in his "actual" position, has been spot on on how he handles Kagawa last season. He gave him enough games, choosing the right opponents to play him, and start him in one of the biggest game of the season. Kagawa was starting to look comfortable later in the season when he come up with that hattrick against Norwich

There was this moment in the first half. Kagawa received a slightly overhit pass from Carrick with Ribery and Lahm bearing down on him. In one swift movement, not only did he collect the ball but also did a slight drop of the shoulder and turned the other way to leave both Ribery and Lahm behind. It was crisp and beautiful. I am absolutely sure no one in that starting 11 apart from him would have even tried that, let alone pull it off. His control and ability to pick the right pass is a delight. I would be gutted if we lost him.

Agreed. There were two or three small but significant moments like those. No one else in the team(except probably Mata) could do those things. When the whole team is under constant pressure and everyone is trying to relieve the pressure on themselves by either clearing the ball or passing it to the nearest player, holding play like those were like a breath of fresh air. Someone needs to GIF out those moments. Don't think it stuck out that much in real time. The Gifs will help glorify it.

Where is GIFLord when you need him? Also, how awful is Jones when he is pressed in possession. Panics quicker than I can sneeze and just hits it anywhere away from him. There was this moment. We were trying to play out from a tight corner. All went well till Jones got the ball and then he panicked and gave it straight to Alaba under the slightest pressing. He could have simply passed it sideway to Carrick who was less than 10 yards away but he simply didn't seem to want the ball under pressure.

It really is simple, when he is good he'll get praised and when he is shit he'll get criticized. I never understand the mentality "I stood by him this long time so I feel like vindicated hell yeah !!!".

Finally called him Shinji? It only took 8 months of working with him to actually be able to pronounce his ridiculously hard name. Remarkable.

I agree that that mentality is wrong but I think those that defended him early on this season were correct in doing so. The manager showed no faith in him whatsoever and didn't give a player of his calibre the run a player of his calibre deserves. Also, the insistence of Moyes on playing such a rigid formation for most of the season with two strikers and a flat 4 in midfield is no place for a technical short passer like Kagawa and it's no wonder he didn't make an impact.

It's no coincidence for me that he's looking so good when he's playing alongside mata or even in a system that isn't so rigid and allows for more movement and flexibility.

What did he say about kagawa?

"I thought the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were outstanding. They were terrific. Shinji Kagawa played very well. There were a lot of positives."

I didn't hear his interview myself and was going by what others in the thread said. He seems to have just said the quote above.

He was shit for a while and now he's been amazing. I literally don't see how those quotes are embarrassing. I've posted numerous times since then

True. This thread was littered with people who could not see his obvious talents, shitting all over him week after week. They've, of course, disappeared recently, having been proven wrong.

Hilarious analysis.

What's hilarious is sticking up for players even when they're underperforming. Kagawa had an awful start to the season. Not influencing games, missing games because he was ill after eating too much and in general not being up the the level.

Now Moyes has slowly bought him back into the first team and he's gradually getting better and showing his obvious talent.

Yeah, the rest of us were just blindly loving a player. It wasn't at all obvious he was being misused or not used at all.

I think you really nailed it and I'm enjoying you continuing on with your story, rather than just being an adult and saying, "Yeah, I was wrong about this one."
