La Liga 2013-2014

Di Maria deliberately tried to score from a corner there, almost got it too. He's on those drugs he was on in the Clasico.

Bale is in Ronaldo mode, there's no way he'll leave this pitch without getting at least a goal.

It's a bit frustrating how Bale and Ronaldo take so many shots from every possible position whereas Isco is the one who tries to bring others into play or create something. But of course when Ronaldo and Bale are both fit, it will be Isco who will be out of the team again (it's a bit like Rooney and RvP this season ignoring each other and other teammates and instead taking needless shots, whereas Kagawa brings others into play, but when the other two are back, he will be out of the team as well).

Di Maria is having the best season of his career. He's a better player than Bale for me.

Isco's got a selfish streak in him as well. More of a 'need to touch the ball a bit more' streak.

I don't see how it's frustrating that a player with more than 1 goal per game takes shot.

I agree, I think it might be to do with being on the bench.

I really noticed it against Dortmund the 2-0 loss. He would pass and then dart around to find space to get it back.

I don't think I've ever seen Isco pass the ball to Bale.

When you think of it Barca have made some awful signings in the last few years. Wasting money on Mascherano and Song when they could have signed a top centre half to replace Puyol, Alba was a good signing but he wants to get forward like Alves and leaves them stuck at the back whilst Abidal provided better defensive cover. Resigning Fabregas and subsequently losing Thiago makes no sense especially when they haven't found a definitive place for Fabregas in the side. All that along with the stupid amount they spent on Ibrahimovic.

I'd be trying to sign a striker, play Fabregas number 10 with Messi and Neymar on either flank and Iniesta and Busquets deeper. They obviously need a centre half, keeper and a right back that can defend allowing Alba more freedom to attack without losing all defensive strength. Messi should be able to find more space starting from a wide position too but they'd need him to stop being lazy or stop the tactic of him not having to do much work in game.

Agree with a lot of this. It's obvious that Barcelona need a full tactical rethink. Tiki taka broke football for a while and no one could handle it, but teams have gotten used to it and so Barcelona have gone from being untouchable to being really good.

What strikers are around though who are Barcelona quality? Falcao seems the only realistic one to me but I think he's a little weak in the build up to play at Barcelona.

Against weaker teams where you can afford 10 shots it's fine. But against top teams they might be a bit more successful if they played as a team and linked up better with teammates.

That was a good ball by Isco, that's what I mean, Bale or Ronaldo would have taken a shot!

Aguero would be perfect but is probably a tad unrealistic. They could try play Neymar up top and get in someone like Reus who will provide an extra goal threat and more direct play. A side like that with Cesc at 10 would have a lot of goal threat and variety. The problem they have themselves created is that their priorities should lie on the goalkeeper and defense. The thing is I could see them getting Ter Stegen and blowing the rest on a forward or midfielder again leaving themselves defensively weak. Thats of course if the ban is lifted.

It's been since 2008, and the very first games with Pep for Barca to not score in two consecutive games. A CL qualifier against Wisla Krakow that ended 1-0, and the opening game of the league against Numancia that also ended 1-0 against us.

You're wildly exaggerating. Ronaldo links up fine. He's never done it better with Real than this season.

Betis losing 0-1 to Sevilla.

As usual this season, the ref's been crucial. Sevilla's goal came from a 30th minute (dubious) penalty, that left Betis with 10 men.

Seville could have scored 4 or 5 already if they could finish well. PK didn't look so odd to me at first sighting

Betis went to pieces after the goal/red. Up until then it was looking like Betis' game. I've not been watching much of the second half, it just seems like fate has already declared Betis are going down.

Diego Costa back in the Atlético line-up today, pretty quick recovery.

They have struggled at Getafe before but should still win...hopefully.

Wonder if Getafe have managed to break 1000 fans today. Villa just had a goal wrongly called offside, too...but it took me two replays to see how close it was.
