Nooooo. We're signing De Jong aren't we ? :(
They're probably just watching De Jong for the national team. He'll probably play the Strootman role now Strootman is out.

I do think that we need a CB, with experience and leadership. I don't mind Evans, Jones and Smalling, but I do think we need another CB that brings them qualities with them. I just don't think them 3 are good enough yet.
For me, personally, I think we need 1 LB, 1 CB, 2 CM and 1 LW. That is 5 players that I think we need to get back on track this season. I do believe a RW would be nice, but I am not trying to be overly greedy here

Three centerhalves just isn't enough anyway, especially when at least two of them have been quite injury prone. We can also use some experience. A perfect scenario would be someone who could take over and start, but also wouldn't see it as a disaster if he's on the bench as the younger lads of really done well. It's hard to find someone like that, so it simply may be a case of getting a top player and whoever is the best of the other three will get the other spot. We'll still have enough injuries for all of them to play anyway.

Tomorrow's a bank holiday (don't really remember anything significant being done on weekends/bank holidays football wise) and Tuesday we've got a game so announcing that we've got a new manager in place isn't ideal on the same day as it. Things do point to Wednesday.

But that's an old photo.......

That's the PSV vs Feyenoord game man.

Fuk twitter.:mad::mad::mad:

Let me know never, ever trust twatter again.

Don't worry buddy, we've all been fooled by the twits at some point in our lives. Only last week I was fooled into thinking that Liverpool hadn't actually won the league yet.

I normally am very thorough, but one 'respected' (not any more) twitter account retweeted this. So I believed it.

But is it true that they were in the game, all three?

No. :p

I have been suspicious and wary of having LVG as our manager since he first became a possible target.
I think it was partly due to my experience last year on a coaching course that I attended that was run by Raymond Verhoven. He was probably the single most arrogant, ignorant and obnoxious person i had ever met. On top of that his methods he taught on the coaching course were archaic and years behind what I was watching every where else do. He also had the balls to claim a particular coaching system called "periodisation training" as something he invented despite it having been used for 20 years or so by most sports and teams in pro sports.
So from my experience with Verhoven the sort of arrogance and confidence that LVG exhibits was a major turn off.

However I am now really excited by the prospect of LVG coming to Utd, I am hoping he can give the club the big shake up it needs to move forward again. I suspect its going to be a bumpy ride.

At least van Gaal has the trophies to back up his arrogance.

I'm thinking van Gaal is looking to, as Ron Atkinson said when he entered OT, perform "major surgery - fast."

They'll be a lot of movement. First time I've ever been irritated by a World Cup summer.

I'm actually looking forward to some spring cleaning. Sometimes you need someone with a fresh perspective to help you get clear out things you don't need anymore. It's going to be difficult, but there isn't time for sentimentality right now -we really do to clean out the wardrobe.

it will be players and staff. But he needs to understand our history and build a team that reflects that.

Looking at his history of fast, attractive football with a penchant for blooding youth, if he can replicate that at United ... If he can do that, it'll work nicely.

understand. I meant he needs to absorb what the club is all about. I'm sure SAF and SBC will help there. But tbh with the crazy money being thrown about...the owners will be happy so long as we win trophies.

I'm sure he will. I also think he'll be great entertainment, but most importantly I hope his best days aren't behind him and that he can make us strong again.

It would be so great to see a United side outplaying other teams again.

yeah. we are starting the new season on Wednesday.....and no break....what with the WC...pre-season and before we know it...August :)

You obviously have not been reading the papers. When there's a unanimous opinion amongst all publishers that something is going to happen... it almost always does. The last time this happened? The two days before Moyes was sacked.

..and before Fergie retired

Why strangle a new coach with pre-set ideals, doesn't he have a tough enough job to pull our degenerating squad back up the table next year? I'd rather the guy sticks to his belief's... in the case of Van Gaal... that's served him well and put him in the position he's in today.

Luckily most of his ideals are similar to ours regardless so the discussion is somewhat moot, personally what I'd hate to see is for us to impose some bizarre 442 + winger approach at all costs, where by we end up playing combos of Valencia and Young once again, we'd no doubt still end up 5-7th because its impossible to get blood from a stone.

I keep waking up and expecting to see that he has been appointed, but so far, nothing. I assume if it isn't done by this week something might be up? I thought it was basically a done-deal.

They're probably discussing the sacked if you miss top four clause that Moyes agreed to.

When we watch Holland in the world cup do we want them to win or lose?

On one hand if they get knocked out of the group stages he comes home early but on the other hand if they can pull off a miraculous win, that's the style of football he'll implement with us! Surely we want that style of football to prevail not fail?

Beat Spain playing good football and then get knocked out under controversial circumstances in the QF.

I doubt they will make it out of their group tbh, they are not that good. They'll fail to qualify for the KO rounds just like in the Euros 2012.

Zlatan is a piece of sh**. No, he is not 'hard' because he done this, let alone the million other things that a profesional should not do.

Zlatan's got Ronaldo's ego but with tantrums of the pitch rather than on them.

Ronaldo is nothing like Zlatan.

Ronaldo has a Persona of being arragont. He has not been where he is by being arrogant; he has learned and worked hard and has not swore and neglected what other people say to improve his career. He does notbswear at anyone at anyone in the club and I have never heard of him fighting or being in a feud with any other pro (except with Rooney, but that was a mistake and he was young then)

Ronaldo is a top pro and he is an ultimate example for any player. Zlatan is not on par with Ronaldo, both personally and in footballing terms.

That's exactly what I mean. Ronaldo leaves all the tantrums on the pitch. Off it he's pretty outstanding and one of the most inspiring footballers of this generation IMO.

So it would appear that LVG to Utd is pretty much nailed on if the press are to be believed?

What then, should be made of Pep G's reported comments in his press conference the other day that Bayern should "back him or sack him"?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...issuing-ultimatum-to-Bayern-Munich-board.html

Is all not well in the Bayern camp under Pep?

Makes you wonder why if LVG is nailed on for the Utd job, why not just announce it? It's hardly a secret we are in for him?

Is it possible that Pep's comments were designed to attract our attention because all is not well for him at Bayern?

Just a thought!!!

I don't mean to be rude but this post made me laugh/smile.

Bloody swearing, it's fecking disgusting isn't it!
