If this doesn't get sorted then those responsible should be thrown off the roof of OT. We've got a world class manager who is desperate to come and we are still fecking about. Get it done you cnuts.

'We have not reached that stage yet [of signing a contract],’ said van Gaal.

‘It’s not even clear if we will reach that stage. One has to wait.

‘Some of the things that have been suggested are absolutely untrue.’

Where are those's quotes from.

Where does he say that? Bloody hope he's just playing it down now rather than its not happening.

Man utd do not want to rush things and are waiting until the end of the season to assess where the other managers are in their time as managers at each respective club i.e Pep/Mourinho/Ancelotti. Then they will sign Van Gaal if there are no other options to explore.

Just wait.

Yeh sure, they will take advice from the same people who offered Moyes.

They did took advice from them in the past and 1 mistake can't erase what SAF did for the club (and the money he forked in on their behalf). I wont be surprised if VG is sticking to his guns about not employing the entire 92 entourage which may lead to friction between VG and SAF. Alternatively Giggs is offering to do well without major changes while VG may want a change of players.

Its all speculation of course. However Giggs was second in the betting list

Good job you put that in bold, would've struggled to read it otherwise.

Why did you bold this?

Christ, why is everyone getting so stressed?

It's clear: United are waiting for the season to end.

LvG has been feeding the media for months, I would take quotes attributed to him with a pinch of salt.

By Mistake. Calm down.

I think for sure SAF will take part in advising which manager to go for, it is stupid not to, but they will not allow him to choose the manager. I think Gigs out of the question because they want a safe option, they can't take a risk option because the last risk the took did not end well.

Is this a statement from yourself? Or has a Journo posted it?

The Metro are the only paper/site that seem to be running those quotes, even then van Gaal is not going to confirm anything until we do. I think it'll be confirmed on Monday.

In my opinion SAF chose Moyes and I wont be surprised if he strong enough to choose again especially if VG is putting his foot down one some thorny issues that involves the old guard. Keane once said that SAF's biggest weakness was loyalty and if VG is planning to show his beloved 92 class the door then rest assured that SAF will fight with all his strength to keep him away from OT.

Too many people are in favor of Giggsie becoming manager. SAF, the MUTV Media, the class of 92, Rio etc. Maybe Im reading too much out of this but the fact that the Dutch contingent had to go that extra mile to praise VG (ex VDS) makes it a bit funny

If we appoint Giggsy over Van Gaal, it'l be bloody hilarious. And daft.

Ah, so really you don't have the foggiest?
No but seriously, it is common sense.

Man utd have do not want to take risks like last season with somebody with no experience and lacked a brilliant CV. So now they would rather wait and assess all their options, no matter how good Van Gaal is, they can wait until the end of the season. They need to check the situation with all other managers and then choose accordingly. They don't want to choose Van Gaal and then one of the other top managers becomes available at the end of the season. It is safer to it this way, that way, at the end they will have no regrets and say they done things the right way.

I agree. Its a long shot but honestly I wont be surprised if it does happens. Too many things indicate that there's plenty of people who are happy with the status quo at OT.

It wouldnt surprise me either which is why I want the appointment finalized asap. Its absolutely certain Giggsy wants the job and given how likely it is that players are going to be outside their comfort zones if Van Gaal is appointed, it wouldnt surprise me 1 bit if they're clamouring for him to be made manager. He'l simply keep things going like old which works best for them.

Anyway who is Giovanni even ? He clearly was't good enough for Barcelona. Later graced Olympiakos, Al-Hilal and Mogi Mirim amongst other illustrious clubs of the game.

He was a pretty good player. Or that just might be my nostalgia colouring my judgement.

Don't know what to think anymore. If they wait too long it will be like Fabregas/Fellaini situation again. If we appoint Giggs than it will be even a bigger mistake than appointing Moyes and Giggs will damage his reputation as I am sure he will be out of OT even quicker than Moyes. He has absolutely no coaching/managing credentials (yet) whatsoever.

No way. The biggest issue with appointing Giggsy would be that we'd have to give him a lot of time due to his stature at the club.

You really think if we are 6th/7th again by christmas Woodward/Glazers will keep him?

It would be quite funny though, if we're being taken for a ride by the other managers suggested (a la Fabregas last summer) and in the process we manage to piss off van Gaal and end up with the managerial equivalent of another Fellaini.

Fair enough! I just don't see it. Great that everyone is happy with Giggs now with zero pressure, but can't see either players or the board being happy when things get tough and results aren't there.

I'm not denying few would be happy. I'm saying unlike Moyes, he wont be an easy man to sack.

We're seeing such a surge to appoint him manager when he doesnt have anywhere close to the required credentials for the job. This when we made a similar mistake a year back and absolutely struggled because of it. Even then, his legend and the romanticism involved is making people want another punt. That says a lot about the position he holds.

I think we should just hold on until the season ends. There has been some very reputable journalists saying this is the worst kept secret in the world right now so I'm going to keep pretending this is in the bag until we hear otherwise.

I doubt he will ge in a strong position when we won't win against a top 8 or so team again. I also doubt very much that players like Kroos or God knows who we are getting will be much behind Giggs when things won't work. Last but not least I really can't see how Glazers will allow us to miss out on CL again. I really think if we are not in CL places by christmas they won't care about Giggs' position within the club (which by then won't bee too strong anyway).

Giggs wont be appointed manager. I dont know why people think that he will be. It has to be out of respect for giggs that the club havent announced the appointment of van gaal before the end of the season.

Why is this Giggs discussion even taking place? It's already been announced Giggs isn't being considered for the role on a permanent basis and Giggs has also commented on being overlooked. Have I missed some fresh developments or are people just going into a panic because this is taking a little longer than expected?

The number of players we're about to get is being exaggerated. Even if say we get Kroos, Shaw and another couple. Thats 4 out of 30 odd players, 4 new ones at that. They'l hold very little power compared to the rest that have been here years.

And that's the issue, am not saying Glazers wouldnt want to sack him. Am saying they'l think a million times before doing it simply because of the fan's reaction. They'l have to give him atleast a year. Specially because it'l take a shocking managerial performance to get us finishing 7th 8th again. The squad and individual players in themselves are far too good for that.

Could you link me up? I've certainly missed this.

I thought he was rather average-ish TBF. Ah though you might be right, I saw him maybe 5-10 times max.

My point kinda was that Giovanni may not be qualified enough to pass such sweeping judgement on Van Gaal. The man is a reputed taskmaster granted isn't afraid to axe the slackers granted. And he's certainly not without fault but this article paints him as a petty, conniving character when in fact a majority of his ex-players and coaches have some kind words for him. Guess I'm feeling annoyed because he's odds on to be our next manager and we have to stand behind him now. :D
