North Korea

Crazy stuff. I looked at the CCTV footage and it didn't look like a prank actually?

Heard a very concerning report on this earlier. VX nerve agent is extremely poisonous. Second only to nuclear in terms of mass death if weaponized. Apparently developed in the UK, only a few countries have it, and they thought all existing supplies had been accounted for. That means N. Korea obtained it or made it. Both are worrying. On a side, they thought Syria had some and some of their material went missing, you know as ISIS got involved.

How is a military parade ramping up tensions?
Isn't it an annual thing?

The parade isn't, it's the increasingly provocative positions of Kim regarding nukes that is. Although debuting the presence of ICBMs at the parade may not help matters

I've always wondered what all those medals are for, the senior military have...

Some of them look like they're wearing Josephs technicolour dream coat

Can't see Trump not responding in some way to them bullishly showing off the ICBM. No idea what he'll do but I guess we'll have to wait until after his round of golf.

For all anyone knows they could have been made out of recycled cardboard.

Do you not remember this?

I think they probably are fake @langster but I still expect Trump to respond in some way, but probably just a tweet though.

When's that from?

It's one of the infamous photoshopped North Korean military pictures where they exaggerated the numbers of certain types of craft etc. I think it was 2013.

I sincerely hope that is all he does.

I might be naïve but I'm not overly worried about North Korea really, they put on these parades all the time. Some of those 'missiles' probably aren't even legit, just glorified toys. All those people cheering and worshiping them are only doing that because they've either been brainwashed or they're scared because if they're not seen celebrating they'll be brown bread. The people of that country are starving and it's virtually on its knees, if they didn't have the support from China they would be screwed.

I also think this is likely more theatre than substance. That said, the problem isn't going away anytime soon since they do have nukes and are quite blatantly using them as leverage to reduce sanctions, whereas the U.S. sees the very fact of a totalitarian state with nukes in 2017 as an unacceptable threat to the world order.

Which, sadly, is now a brim full of irony.

There's no irony at all. I'd rather have a democratic state with rules, norms and human rights tot have them than a totalitarian shit show like North Korea.
