North Korea

Could be the case that he didn't launch the missile on purpose to not increase the tension?

The treacherous Western media and their shameless South Korean puppets will fail to diminish the glory of the Dear Leader's triumphant penis extension project.

Well someone is going to get executed with an anti-aircraft gun for this.

They'd probably invent a better excuse than technical failure if that were the case. They don't spend all that time on state propaganda to characterize themselves as inept.

I for one expected the apocalypse to be more competently administered.

How big a hole will a nuke blow open in Korea? Will it pollute all the seas too?

Has any Caftards been to North Korea? I'm planning on going traveling in October, going to SEA, New Zealand, Australia? How viable is it go to North Korea, via Beijing on a train? I know it would be a lot easier to fly to Pyongyang, but I just think spending 12 hours traveling through North Korea's rural areas would give you a better feel for what the country is like.

Good thought. Its one of the least humiliating ways out of his brinksmanship.

Hopefully, for I would hate to be the scientists in charge of the test. They'd be dead. Which is why the regime needs stopping, obviously amongst other incredible crimes against humanity which were committed.

Best of luck!

North Korea is incredibly strict on its border controls. You can visit, but you can't just fly in. You have to be state approved, and you'll be monitored everywhere you go by officials (the tours are overseen in groups).

Either dead or awarded medals for the most successful nuclear tests of all time . There's zero chance this is being reported in North Korea.

You can't travel to North Korea without an approved tour group with whom you can only visit certain areas and the whole thing is very tightly controlled. No chance you would be allowed to go to the rural areas to see the real country.

I think they stopped new registrations after Gerrard's slip.

Of course they're strict but nohere as strict as they used to be. I've checked, though, one can go in for €900 or so, as a part of a group. I think the method of transportation is up to you as long as you have proof of being able get into a country across the Dandong river when you're getting the overnight train. I was just wondering has anyone had experiences of doing something similar? You never know, Caf is a very cultured place. Lol

Well from what I've read in books, seen in documentaries, scientists are treated with carrot or the stick type whip. Most of the new developments in Pyongyang go to rocket scientists, high ranking officers and government officials, until you feck up. Then it's the gulag for you and your family.

You can see rural areas as a tourist, via a train. Obviously you won't be able to stop off and walk about on platforms or at least I would be surprised if that was allowed.

Why on earth would you want to visit a totalitarian country where you might get thrown in jail for unknown reasons. Just check it out on YouTube.

Wow this is a little worrying... Seems to have escalated rather quickly.

Morbid curiosity. Also, as far as I know it's actually difficult for foreigner to get thrown into a prison in NK so long as you do what you're told. Which I will obviously. I'm not mad. Haha

If you haven't already, check out the Propaganda Game on Netflix. Its about a Spanish guy who was fascinated with NK, moved there and wound up being a massive propagandist for the regime.

I haven't seen that particular documentary, but I've heard of the guy. He pops up in few documentaries. He seems to be the go to guy for North Korean propaganda for westerners. I will watch it tomorrow, though.

Ps - I love how he has a lot of military medals and citations. Hope I get one for visiting.

I heard Henry Rollins on the Joe Rogan podcast talking about going to North Korea, it sounds a bit scary.

Depends on the nuke size and power. I've read that modern nukes have different 'powers'. The biggest tested to date is the tsar bomba that could have an effect on people 50 miles from where it was detonated. Anyone within a 20 mile radius would most likely die or have serious injuries.

Ie detonated in the centre of London could burn the skin on people living in Brighton.

Although I've heard that Russia have a bomb called the Satan 2 which could reportedly wipe out somewhere the size of Texas/ France.

Happy Easter..

The really big nukes with yields in the megatons became obsolete decades ago. Modern nukes are around 100-400 kilotons, in comparison the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were around 15 kilotons.

https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

But a d5 Trident warhead surface explosion on downtown Pyongyang will kill over half a million Plus if the wind is blowing towards soul they will get caught by some fallout

Would Trump sign off on that?

Honestly I don't know if he would but I wouldn't put it past him

Scary thought and best not thinking about to be honsest. But as a side note, surely if you're entering a war then if there's a capabitilty to build as big a bomb as possibly you'd do it - ie. if you're willing to drop a nuke then you wouldn't have a "gentleman's agreement" to say we'll only limit it to 100 kilotons.

Smaller nukes are actually more effective. A lot of a big nuke's effect is wasted because of it's spherical release of energy. So a bunch of small nukes would obliterate more land area than one large nuke.

Also it is more efficient to package several small ones + countermeasures into a MIRV than a single big one.

Satan 2 is not a nuke. It is a missile that can have up to 16 thermonuclear weapons, and so in the end of its travel it throws all of them in different locations, so it does a lot more damage than a single nuke.

The biggest ever used nuke is Tsar Bomba which could have caused 3rd degree burns 100km away. I think that the biggest one US had was 3 times less powerful than it (just 15MT) which make is 1000 times stronger than the nuke which was used in Hiroshima.

I think that the vast majority of nukes are somewhere between a few hundred to 1.3MT, which still make them insanely powerful. Read somewhere that if 100-300 of them (1.3MT) were detonated at the same time in different locations of Earth, it would cause nuclear fallout.

The largest US test was 15 MT but the largest bomb they developed was the B41 which had a maximum yield of 25 MT. Edward Teller reportedly designed a 10 Gigaton (10,000 Megaton) weapon, which he referred to as the "backyard" bomb because you wouldn't need to deliver it to a target; just detonate it in your own backyard and destroy any target on earth.

The last few posts (mine included) have made me realise earth has allowed itself to "created" a species capable of killing the one thing it needs to survive, earth (that's if you don't believe in God which is a complete other topic and way off thread topic so will stop there) - what a ****** up species we are.
