David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

I don't personally know Moyes. It really doesn't bother me. I agree he should have been sacked, but talk about beating a dead fecking horse. Move on!
You can just stay out of the thread if people talking about a central character in United's recent history bothers you so much.

People where shouted down when they mentioned what an idiotic appointment this was in 2013. 4 years later and with Moyes having proven that beyond any reasonable doubt, they should have the freedom to say so.

Felt sorry for O'Shea there - he's a good bloke - but I am glad Moyes has now been shown up beyond dispute for being a poor manager and a self-serving, passive aggressive, generally unpleasant cnut.

It was only three years ago....I'd find it easier to understand a quantum physics lecture (in Chinese) than how this joker ever ended up at United.

Me too :lol::lol::lol:

Can't see Sunderland coming back up any time soon with Moyes there. He won't stay either, too damaging to his ego. Unless someone manages to convince him they've changed the name of the Champions League to the Championship.

Moyes wanted more money to spend? Well so do most managers. All the signings made this season are being paid for in installments? That has been true for years. Every manager since Bruce has lived under this reality, as do most managers in the league. These aren’t the players he would have signed in an ideal world? Limitations are a key part of football management. You operate within a budget, you manage the squad you have and you get the best you can. Moyes has not got the most out of this squad, because for most of the season he has spent his time and energy wishing he had a different one.

This season was always going to be tough. But to stand a chance we needed a manager who was willing to roll up his sleeves and wade into the mess with his players. Say what you like about Allardyce, he could never be accused of not wholeheartedly investing himself in a project and standing by his players. Moyes has proven that he is not that kind of man. He has steadfastly remained out of the shit, just close enough to be deemed a witness, but not an accessory.

Why did none of the journalists ask him if he would have done anything differently if he could do the season over again?

Out of interest, are there any Moyes sympathisers left on her to defend him?

I wouldn't bet on Moyes getting them out of the championship. He's being shown up for what he really is.

You know what. When Moyes was appointed United managed I thought "what the hell" the club and Sir Alex know what they are doing. Started okish. Went 11 games unbeaten. Had a period over xmas when he won six straight games. He lost me after the Olympiakos away game...no clue!

He got sacked and I kinda felt a bit sorry for him (I know, I know) still not sure why, just thought maybe a guy out of his depth.

Wished him the best in his next job.

But he never takes the blame for anything at all...nothing is ever his fault.

Didn't he say something about United have lost our identity in spending all this money, that's not the United way. Then went on about he was trying to sign Ronaldo, Bale and Kroos. Like they would have cost peanuts.

I have seen people on here slate him and you know what he deserves every bit of it.

No ambition, telling Sunderland fans to expect a relegation battle after two games of the season (are you then surprised the Sunderland players didn't care)

Telling United fans we aspire to play like a certain rival...or we want to make it hard for Newcastle.

And my point is...good riddance I say. Moyes you have done yourself no favours at all.

Think before you speak man.

Take some responsibility for how everything has worked out.

Pretty sure you wont though.

Deja vu reading the pro-Moyes arguments in the first paragraph ( which the author then comprehensively debunks). "He needs time" - are other managers given a free pass for a couple of years without needing to show improvement?
"It's not his team" - as though it's not a part of good management to get better results with what you have or bring in players who add value while righting the ship?

Excuses and snide remarks all season.

Every lower league team would dream of having a proven goal scorer in great form in Defoe. He had it and still couldn't make it work.

This is all on Moyes.

His manner since everton shows he deserves zero sympathy.

I have seen Sunderland a few times this season & they have been awful every game, never looking like they will score, unless Defoe has a skilful moment. The club has been doomed for a few weeks now, & any decent manager would have at least given it a go, even if they had a few thrashings, but not Moyes, keeping to the same dire football throughout. Neither them or Middlesboro deserve to stay up due to their negative play throughout the season, & lack of goals.

Did he?

I remember him losing vs liverpool, Wba and city in his first 6 league games.

Or are you talking about later?

Utter arse of a man and I'm delighted he's down, the fact it's with Sunderland is a pleasant bonus

You know what the fecked thing is though? despite the fact that he has failed everywhere since leaving Everton I always see people defending him and are somehow convinced he's a good manager. Boggles the mind.

Probably the same ones who would like Rooney on our 1st team sheet each game. Ideal level for Rooney to play in next season, & back with his old pal Moyes at Sunderland.

After we lost to WBA in Sept till the defeat at home to Everton I think it was.

I really hope he isn't sacked, or if he is he gets another job in the EPL immediately. I want to see him perennially being humiliated season in season out.

As far as I'm concerned moyes and then lvg are both equally culpable. Moyes ruined the experience level of players & staff, lvg ruined the confidence and playing mentality. They both robbed the players of the never give up attitude, Moyes with his woe is me attitude and lvg with his overly cautious philosophy

Thank feck for mourinho

When he left Everton for United, their fans couldn't care less. They knew he'd achieved all he could there - which was next to nothing, just a fourth place finish in one season and a team whose primary trait was playing hoofball.

He was never going to do a thing at United, but Sunderland taking a punt on him shouldn't have been as disastrous for them really.

Uno, dos, tres times a failure though, eh?

If Moyes had a bit of humility and didn't think he was entitled to greatness then I would feel a bit sorry for him.

They need to stick with him and they will come back stronger. I still firmly believe Moyes is a very good manager for lesser teams with survivalist mindsets.

No he is not, and he has just proved that at both R.Sociedad and Sunderland.

Big Sam is what you describe, Moyes is not.

A team with a survivalist mindset needs an inspirational leader, a pretty sound tactician and someone shrewd in the transfer market. Moyes is as inspirational as a turd and you can fit all his tactical nous and knowledge on a post-it stamp. He also thinks using Ipads is being on the forefront of recruiting and scouting strategy.

The man is a charlatan and a village idiot, the sooner he is sat in a pub in Scotland with piss stained pants mumbling about when he used to be a football manager the better.

Absolute fecking cretin of a manager.

I don't know how you can think that given the evidence of his last couple of jobs.

Sample space at Everton + Preston North end is way bigger than hardly 2 other seasons recently. He's a very good manager for that level and I stand by that. Time will tell.

Football has moved on since then.

Football has moved on since then.

He was at Everton will 2013 and throughout his time there would always impress me so I can't believe he has suddenly lost all of that ability. It's just like Benetiz (who is a better manager than Moyes) and how people will say he is a useless turd. These managers have their qualities.

 Well said.

4 years ago he was given the United job and I still find it baffling. It's surreal he was this clubs manager. Wait...it did happen, right?

More money in the PL = better managers at mediocre teams (competing against the likes of Silva rather than Warnock) and more emphasis on being able to identify targets and complete the deal rather than endless prevaricating. Moyes is yesterday's man.

A manager is only as good as his last job until he proves otherwise. In Moyes case hes only as good as his last three jobs where he has been backed financially in each one with substantial funds and yet failed miserably each time.

At this point he would have to do something spectacular to rebuild his reputation. He's done i reckon, wouldn't surprise me if he slinks off from sunderland in the sumer and leaves them in the lurch. Spineless mope that he is.

I agree.

It's difficult to see where he goes from here though. Last couple of years have trashed his reputation. For Sunderland and Moyes I think the best thing is to stay together and start again.
