I don't think now it's a good time to decide that after both having been out for 7 weeks.. They have showed before they can play together.
Jones has been fine today, Smalling less so.

It is almost like both just came back from injury.
They aren't good enough. We talk about opposition fans thinking we overrate our own players and these 2 are prime example. Should not be at the club and hopefully both moved on in Summer.
Jones has been terrible. A half decent striker would have scored at least one of the chances he's gifted today.

Gets my vote. Jones, while more injury prone is a better player than Smalling. Smalling always has a mistake in him and cannot read the game to save his life. Today might not be an obvious mistake but he allowed Welbeck too much time and space. He should be embarrassed.
Jones is a good CB to have in teh squad. He wont play much due to injury but the games he does play you can rely on him
Jones and Smalling weren't injuried they're just pansies. Funny how Jose made that comment about them and they both were available after it
Pair of absolute donkeys. Can't believe some people still think Smalling is one of the best defenders in the league.
That's pretty much their natural state so I wouldn't be giving them any leeway.

I forget how good they are when they aren't injured. Hopefully Madrid and Barca wont come in for them in the summer, fingers crossed.

What did Jones do wrong?
Stick them in a team where they dont have 3 holding midfielders in front of them at all times and they get found out more often than not. Don't get me wrong, its not just these too, the only defender I'm comfortable with is Bailly.

They don't get enough, both need moving on.
Jones has been decent to good this season so far. But his injuries really kill him. He's a player than goes down in fan expectations when he's injured opposite of say, Hargreaves. He hasn't made any major mistakes, but still his injury record means he simply can't be trusted to be first choice. Smalling, he's just gone backwards. I thought Mourinho would be able to sort him out but at times this season it looks like he's forgotten how to defend, when one of the better defensive managers in the game is struggling to get a good game out of him something is wrong . Sad, as I had dreams of both doing much better for us when they signed a few years back. Wouldn't surprise me to see one or both gone in the summer depending on our purchases.
It was the way they casually passed the ball between themselves when we were getting beat that annoyed me most. No initiative.

Smelling has got me frustrated to the point of cursing his disproportionately sized head and shoulders that are trying to swallow his neck.

I don't see why they're getting flack for the result. The first goal was a pure fluke, the 2nd I would put down more to Martial than Smalling & Jones.
I thought we looked pretty solid defensively. As usual it was our inability to do anything of note up the other end that cost us.
