Premier League weekend fixtures 11/12/13 August

Love the question Robbie Earle's just been asked on NBC "who'll be the happier of the two managers?" when it's a draw at half time between a good team and a not so good team. Amazingly enough the answer in this case is Benitez.

I don't have to, it's the way the game is taught nowadays and there's set of rules you either respect or get booked. It's you who's shouting 'BACK IN THE 90S!!!!1' at the clouds, not me.

Have you witnessed any professional team's defensive drills? Where is your evidence?

Excessive capitals are for little children. Have a word with yourself.

Uhm as it happens then yes I actually have and what evidence? As in, people not flying in with flying tackles like they did 'BACK IN THE 90S!!!!1'? Or evidence as in you complaining that 'BACK IN THE 90S!!!!!1'?

You are incredibly immature.

Bryan Robson was applauded for said tackle.

We are protecting the attacking players too much. Offside is in their favour and you can't touch a dribbler without being penalised. There has to be some logic involved. There will be contact during a challenge. It's not a completely non contact sport. If he dies, he dies.

No longer do you see the classic Ryan Giggs slide tackle.

Obviously the tackles Rojo escaped punishment from are a different story.

I don't get why you are trying to romantizice this. It's a tackle where the chance of winning the ball fairly is quite low and the risk of an injury to the opponent is high. There's nothing nostalgic nor beautiful about this.

You're trying to trivialize it by saying "you can't touch the opponent" and "non-contact sport" etc. when this is a completely different situation and something neither of us have said in response to you. Also this was an attacker injuring a defender.

There's a reason studs-up tackles, tackles with excessive force (ie. opponent flying in at high speed) and scissor-tackles are not allowed and it's not because they're trying to ruin the game or something like that which is what you're implying.

Some, including you, clearly need to lose that "but ... but ... he got the ball" attitude as it doesn't really matter, both from the rule book and a logical point of view.
