A lot hinges on Pochettino. No doubt Real will bid for Kane, but if they sack Zidane (which is beginning to look a real possibility), would they go for Poch? I'm sure Levy will refuse to let them both go, and both possibly would like to see out another season = new stadium.

In Poch's book, Brave New World, managing RCD Espanyol in their new stadium (opened in 2009) was one of his dreams. He achieved that and led them through those difficult years. It is reasonable to assume that managing Spurs for at least the fist few seasons in our new stadium is probably one of his dreams too (I have only gone through half of the book).

Also, in his book, footballing philosophy and player buy-ins are big things for him. He got rid of players who were not willing to do it his way during his time of Espanyol and Spurs. I do not think that Real Madrid stars will be willing to football the Pochettino's way.

Eriksen and Alli were largely ineffective today, as per usual the only goal Alli is involved in are the pointless ones. It's hard to motivate his spot in the XI the way he's currently playing. Eriksen of course is out of position on the right flank. He's also not fast enough to play as a conventional winger. Lamela would probably do more for the team at the right wing. The team is painfully dependent on Son and Kane making things happen.

Very strange post. Alli was quite good I thought, he gets into great positions and tries things. Thought they both played well and moved the ball well, Also Alli assisted Eriksen's goal?

Did you just decide you wanted to write this before the game and do it anyway?

Lol ... Eriksen finished off a fantastic team goal today, in case you missed it. Both Eriksen and Alli were great today.

Agree with all of that.

It pleases me very much.

But Son, I don't get the hype surrounding him. The guy runs around a lot, granted, but to what end? He has little to no impact on the game whatsoever. Very average player.
You serious? This guy never gets any hype. Most of the hype is is surrounding Alli, Kane and eriksen. If anything, he is underrated

Lol name a team other than City that aren't more dependant on 1 or 2 players? I think your overreacting slightly.

I've never understood the obsession with Real going for Poch. Seems like a horrible match if I'm being honest.

Wouldn't a club like Real be a better match for someone like Conte?

If you look at the match with objective eyes then Dele Alli was wasteful and Eriksen was invisible.

Eriksen is supposedly a playmaker but had zero assists and an xA of 0.1. Dele Alli is secondary striker and scored zero goals with an xG of 1.

Look at the goal distribution (data from WhoScored.com).

Arsenal
Total: 40 (100 %)
Lacazette + Sanchez: 15 (38 %)

Chelsea
Total: 41
Morata + Hazard: 16 (39 %)

Liverpool
Total: 50
Salah + Firminho: 26 (52 %)

Man City
Total: 64
Sterling + Aguero: 27: (42 %)

Man Utd
Total: 45
Lukaku + Martial: 17: (38 %)

Tottenham
Total: 46
Kane + Son: 28: (61 %)

Tottenham dependence on their duo compared to the other teams.

Liverpool: 1.17
Man City: 1.45
Chelsea: 1.56
Man Utd: 1.61
Arsenal: 1.61

The only team that is comparable to Tottenham is Liverpool. But Tottenham clearly is on a league of its own.

I still do t really see the problem, this is probably the only season it's been like this and it's not over. They are in our squad to score goals? Eriksen and Alli are both in bad form, they will work their way out of it, this is the time on the season where we usually kick on. Also you say both Eriksen and Alli are ineffective.... Eriksen has 6 goals and 6 assists, Alli has 5 goals and 7 assists.

Hopefully he can help knock out Chelsea.

Edit: ffs he's ineligible. Stupid Norwich.

Highly rated? Never heard of him.
Pochettino compared him to Messi at one point then a couple of years later said he regretted making the comparison. Huge talent (4 goals and 3 assists in the Youth League this season in games against Dortmund and Real) but apparently has attitude problems and his size is a bit of an issue as well. He was part of the England team that won the U19 Euros last summer.

Yeah quite an ego we hear but like a lot of our youth he is very light weight.

Hasn't really done much at club lever but playing well for the England youth teams.

Don't mind me, I've been living under a rock apparently.

Must be crap then :D

Will be interesting to see how he does with regular first team adults football. He has a lot of talent, he shouldn't throw it away with attitude problems.

I think he started the first game then was mostly on the bench after that.

He got a last minute assist to win the semi final game 1:0

A big 2 points dropped today before having to play United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

0 shots on target in the second half and generally lacked creativity without Eriksen.

Really needed to win today before the hard schedule. Liverpool will most likely win tomorrow and they are 5 points behind. I can't see Spurs making top 4 this season. Kane can only do so much. Thought Alli had another poor game. He has had a meh season so far.

The Europa League hymn is going to sound fecking excellent in the brand new stadium. I heard they've even installed top of the line audio enhancers to really get that deep, resounding bass sound for that specific hymn.

That'll make Harry Kane stay put.

So despite the insistence of the Cafe that Spurs had a better set of players and a better manager, they now find themselves 8 points adrift of us, scoring less and conceding more in the process. After the game against Notts County they have to play us, Liverpool and Arsenal, followed by a champs league tie against Juve. They could feasibly find themselves 14 points behind us in just a few weeks time.

Spuds 'good' spell of the last 4 seasons was really just a period of United dropping pace, Chelsea doing the same last season, Arse rebuilding and was also the time when Foxes managed to win the fecking PL...

Whatever you put it down to, it has come to an end now and they need, as a club, to start facing reality again.

They won nothing in that time, and with the money that Kane could bring in for them this Summer (250m), they need to start thinking about how they could reinvest that.

The reality is, getting 250m to reinvest is better for them as a club than vainly clinging onto Kane for another season.

Yeah it definitely helped Spurs that the other big clubs all simultaneously got worse and worse. Fact is they haven't really improved in the last few years (well, Kane has) whereas the big clubs have finally gotten their shit together and are hauling points again. It's going to be very difficult for Spurs to keep up with the "big four" given their limited budget.

Harry Kane delivered a goal for the Harry Kane-team, but his mates didn’t. Dele Alli looks like Jermaine Jenas, plays like Jermaine Jenas and is as petulant as Jenas - he is truly not even close to being as good as his former reputation tells us. When he’s scoring goals, it covers all the cracks - but when he’s not he is just very average at most things.

If we beat them next week, they will not catch Man United this season - and that’s after 25 games. They are having a very poor domestic season after beliving they were favorites for the title, their main forum had 60% picking «first» before the season. We will probably draw them though, Mourinho away and so forth. Having Spurs-hater Sanchez in the team will probably scare then and help us immensely, especially as he has fresh legs after some rest.

Imagine having Raiders fans over to your NFL housewarming my party. They'll smash the gaff up.

As far as Spurs go, think it's too early to write them off. Home to United under the floodlights will be a game they'll be up for and could get them back on track. We haven't done well there in recent times. Kane needs one more for the 100, seems written in the stars he'll get it at home vs United.
