You guys did, on your main forum - pre-season thread - there was this article the other to show the delusion amongst some sets of fans. The forum you and your Glaston-mate really should be contributing on since you are fans of said club and not this one.
This forum is open to everyone.

This forum is open to everyone.

It is indeed, but I've always found it strange how fans of other teams rather spend their time on here telling everyone how great their team is or just trying to get a reaction rather than discussing this stuff with their own fans. Really dont understand it as there is nothing to gain really and it comes across pretty sad

Yeah, stick within your own circles and don't listen to other opinions.

They are here and that's why this forum is fun and interesting. They have their views, we have ours, and that's the essence of it. Without them, it would have been too monotonous.

I'm also very active on a main Spurs forum - I just enjoy redcafe a lot also because it's got a great range of fans from lots of clubs. If you just want it to be a Utd only forum then fair enough but I think it would be pretty dull. This is a great football forum that happens to be Utd focused - that's how I look at it.

I quite enjoy the fact there are other clubs fans on here to talk to. I hardly ever post in the main MU forum because generally it's match day melters saying 80% of our players are shit. Or doom and gloom merchants as soon as we have a bad result, Mou out, the club cant compete, etc etc.

I wish there were more from the smaller clubs, i've been watching a bit of Burnley this season and a discussion would be good to have.

As for Spurs, just like our posters some are reasonable, some a bit delusional. I still think they will fight it out with Liverpool for that 4th place position. Arsenal could be in the mix if they sign Auba and they all settle quickly. I actually put some money on Spurs to pip Juventus, game will be really close I feel.

So, a big month for Spurs ahead. Currently 2 points outside the top 4 (8pts behind us) with a few big games ahead:

Newport County (A) - obviously easy on paper, but the type of game that you get no credit for anything in
United (H)
Liverpool (A)
Arsenal (H)
Juventus (A)

Followed by 5th round of the cup assuming they beat Newport County.

What say you Spurs fans? This is the type of run that could make your season if successful, or completely break it if not. It's a long time until summer listening to rumours of departures if you're out of all competitions by the end of Feb.

Confidence high?

Tough run of fixtures.

I hope they nick top 4. I think it’s going to so tight.

I also hope that their confidence is good going into the match against Juve as I’m really looking forward to that one. Supporting the PL teams.

Can someone remind me what their record is in games like that?

Like I presume they'll lose to Liverpool away?
A draw against Juventus or a 2-1 loss wouldn't be a bad result but i cant see them doing better really.
I haven't watched enough of Juventus this season to have an opinion on them tbh.

I'd be surprised if we beat Spurs, a draw seems most likely.
It'll probably be decided by 1 goal that'll either be a thunderbolt or a cock up by a defender and then attack against defence for the rest of the match, with defence winning.

Arsenal at home you should beat all things being equal. But its a derby and i dont really know what your recent record is like.

Spurs have the worst record of all the top 6 teams when playing one another.

We can and will beat Spurs, without a shadow of doubt.

Yeah i feel like we always lose at Anfield, always too open and get torn apart. Just need to play smart and not concede early on, hopefully can scrape a point but i think anything more is very unlikely. Have bad feelings about the 2 wembleys games also, can see your lot frustrsting us and nicking a goal, Probably as you suggest a 30 yard belter from someone. I feel we always underwhelm against arsenal recently as well.

Strangely optimistic about juve though, think itll be tight and scrappy, Dybala probably being out of the 1st leg is a massive bonus and i presume Toby will be back and fully fit comfortably in time

Fair enough - what else is he going to say with a question like that?

He could've easily said that he will definitely manage at the new stadium, or something of the like.

To make such a comment when Real are very possibly looking at new managers right now is a 'come get me' call.

Pochettino and Kane will both go to Real I reckon, possibly this Summer.

Pochettino said: "My commitment is massive [to Spurs]. I am working like I am going to be here forever.

"But in the end you never know what is going to happen in football."

Pochettino's Spurs contract runs until 2021 but he added: "Tomorrow [Tottenham] chairman Daniel Levy could have a bad night and say, 'Oh I am going to sack Mauricio', then I look stupid saying I am not going to work in one place or another or another."

Hardly a 'come and get me call'?

I'm willing to bet you £100 fresh pounds that will not happen.

What has he achieved in his career that would put him in the running for such a high profile job?

A couple of top 4 finishes with Spurs is hardly suitable credentials for the Real hot seat.

No idea - he should just stay at Spurs for the next 15 years if you ask me. Just his level.

Agreed.

The Real Madrid managerial job isn’t anywhere near as attractive as face value says.

Unlike players, I don’t think top managers think of it as the go-to place. I think United managerial job would probably be the most sought after - partly due to proper board backing, stability, control.

I think Poch should indicate publicly and to the Spurs board that he is somewhat interested in going elsewhere - of only for a bargaining chip to get a best possible contest from Levy.

Just gonna make a mental note of this post.... last 2 times we’ve played you at home we’ve beaten you. We actually had more possession and shots on and off target in the game in October not saying that means anything just a bit surprised by your ‘confidence’ (arrogance)

Yeah but if by some miracle Spurs pull off the win, I'll just bury my head in the sand and pretend it didn't happen.

Ignorance is bliss.

The most difficult part for Spurs is taking that final step, especially right now with City hiring Pep as it's taken the quest to win a title to a whole new level. I don't believe that it's going to be possible for them to get to that level (true elite level in Europe) unlike what we've seen from the other recent EPL champions. No doubt they are a good side but without the money to sort the squad out and some of the holes in the first 11 they won't be matching City any time soon.

A Dembele, Wanyama and Sissoko midfield doesn’t work.

Would not be surprised if they go out tonight now

Mate, with all due respect, this is just wrong. We were third in the top 6 mini league last season, ahead of arsenal and the two Manchester clubs. We don't have a good record away at the other top 6 clubs but at home, we won all but one of the five matches last season (we drew the fifth one).

Season before that I can't find a table specifically for that season but we picked up 15 points from the top 6 games, having only lost one of the ten games home or away.

We again did not lose one of those games at home. Seeing as 15 points was the amount for 3rd in that mini league last season, probably fair to say it was similar the season before.

Incidentally, I completely agree with what you say about Poch. Great manager, has done a great job with us but hasn't proven enough to manage at Real and, truth be told, I think he'd be eaten alive at real if he went there this season.

Assume he meant this season? PL 5 W1 L4

I'm looking forward to going at this Spurs defence with Sanchez in the side as well as Martial, Pogba, Lukaku. Think there will be a lot of goals in this game, we should have conceded plenty against poorer teams were it not for their finishing.

I actually expect you lot to be very defensive as that is what Jose tends to do against the bigger sides.
