I really hope England keep their heads. The entire Colombian game plan is to unsettle them. Big test for a young team.

Not dangerous play so no red according to @kps88. So Sterling can just slap their CB and it's just a yellow. Not dangerous, right?

I wasn't the one who brought up dangerous play. Learn to read the full thread for context.

They’re showing this Maguire challenge with Cuadrado on ITV as if it’s evidence of Colombia being really agressive. All I can see is Maguire being a dick.

I thought fair play to Maguire, put Cuadrado in his place, showed he is stronger

If England doesn't have it easy enough with their draw, Sweden winning, Colombia without James, they just want to play against 10 men. I mean feck sakes, earn it and score a goal or two. Clearly England are the better team and have to apply themselves a lot better in the second half.

The fact that this non-red card is the talking point shows how shit the quality was in the first half aside from one decent chance worked by Lingard and Trippier to Kane.

You have your location down as San Diego, are you sure it’s not Glasgow or Cardiff?

What are you talking about? The player headbutted Henderson in his chest then moved his head up and hit him right in his jaw. Clear red card.

I agree it was a red card.

I'm on about Henderson clutching an area that was nowhere near where he got hit.

It's not violent conduct, it's a yellow. It's petulant conduct. If it was real violent conduct detrimental to the player's safety, then he would have been sent off. It's not a clear red because he would have been sent off yes?
Ah, which rule is "petulant conduct" then, must have skimmed that one. So can you just open hand slap opposition players then, and not get a yellow?

It is quite troubling to see England getting drawn into the scrappy play that Columbia thrive on. I hope Southgate fixes that at halftime. England started very well, but the gap between defence and midfield kept growing. Alli is clearly unfit, and Lingard is getting marked whenever he drifts downwards. Henderson has been excellent I think, but there is only so much one player can do. England need to replace Alli, and soon.

Trippier has been excellent going forward, Lingard;s runs have been brilliant, too. Sterling needs to pick up his game, he is losing the ball too often. Young has been solid defensively, but he needs to offer more up the pitch. They don't have James, England need to exploit that.

If that happened to a Man Utd player during Liverpool vs Man Utd, every last one of you Man Utd supporters would be screaming red card, and you know it.

Im guessing you really hate England
Tbf after seeing the replay at half time it probably could have been given. Henderson's reaction was stupid though.

And no, I don't hate England. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the Utd players go further in the competition although it would also be funny if they crashed out so I'm happy either way.

Alright, I’ve got friends from Colombia but the players and coaching staff acting all cnuty has turned me against them in this tournament.

The players and staff are slowly realizing that at this world cup it takes something special to get sent off.

I agree with this in many ways, but being a massive bellend is worthy of getting a red and ruining his countries hopes. No need for that.

I'd abandon the game for what their coach did to Stirling. Assaulting players heading off the pitch should be a straight win to us.

Nobody thought about it but maybe Rivaldo's body has exceptional resonance, the vicious shot on his knee resonated up to his skull.

Who do people think will take pens for England if it comes to it?

I predict Maguire, Kane, Henderson, Young and Walker.

Apparently.

To quote Taylor Swift... haters gonna hate?

I didnt care who won at the start but Colombia are shit, cheats, nasty and that coach was lucky Stuart Pearce wasn't still around, he'd have decked him.... And this ref would have said yellow.

I mean with Rose and Trippier providing the width and pace. I don't think Rose is anything special and he's lacking match fitness. But that lack of a left wing can be fixed with one sub. It reminds me too much of watching United. And then I start worrying that we won't buy a left back.

I want Rashford first and foremost. RLC even wouldn’t be a bad choice for a clearly not fully fit Alli. Rose is a good suggestion too tbh. Maybe give Young 20 minutes to create something or do something noteworthy first.

Would have gone to VAR and interpreted by the refs. Layun stepping on Neymar yesterday like that was a yellow I believe, if anything. Could have been a red too right, but it wasn't.

Sterling and Alli are so frustrating. They should be taking the ball from midfield and allowing Kane to stay up top. They have provided no support at all tonight.
