How did we play? Completely missed it. Did not get to sleep till seven in the morning.
Shocking in the 1st half going 1 down and being outplayed but out of nowhere we got an equaliser with good work from Sanchez and Martial. Second half much better numerous chances to score wasted with Shaw and Rashford being the main ones but we got the winner in the last minutes.

He wasn't criticising. Just saying what most of us have been = which is we're better at attacking so we need to have that mindset from the beginning of the game.
I think he was pleased with our 2nd half.

Fair enough

It comes down to the quote I think Paolo Maldini said once (and I like it):

'If I have to tackle, I have already made a mistake'

The result is good an 'all, but...we shouldn't be needing to get injury time winners against the likes of Bournemouth, the whole reason we were in that situation was down to a dreadful first half. We are our own worst enemies with slow starts.

That said, great 2nd half and we deserved it overall I think.
We shouldn't miss all those 1v1s then... How do we stop that ?

Shocking half of Football. Sanchez actually gives us what we miss upfront, I like Lukukau but it means our build up play is slow and clumsy when he starts.

I like Mata, but we can't play him on the right. Which means we need 2 in midfield, which doesn't get the best out of Pogba.

Which means we need to play 3 in midfield, therefore Mata doesn't play. shame

Martial still annoys me … I know he's scoring but watching him in-game is just soooo frustrating!?

I simply find his whole attitude and approach towards the game selfish and poisonous … with our defence that is fecking deadly!

Seriously, after that performance?

What's the problem, care to elaborate... How is it selfish or poisonous? He is very very good on the ball, creating or scoring most of our chances. He is also getting back to help Shaw these days.

A good result but let’s not fool ourselves.

1. Our defense is still shaky and badly organized. Shaw is good one against one but his overall positioning isn’t in sync with the rest. Lindelöf is decent but that’s not good enough when your partner lack fundamental technical skills with the ball on his feet. Young was our best defender and thats all you need to know.

2. Matic performance speaks for itself. Fred is energetic but lack discipline. Another season and we lack quality in midfield, sounds familiar.

3. Mata is by far our weakest link defensively. Against hard working teams with pace he struggles. A rapid right sided forward is a must ASAP.

4. Happy for Rashford! Great goal when we needed it most. Hopefully he can build his confidence even if the goal was pure luck.

Next game we must press high up in the pitch from minute one. We must also be more compact, once again in the first half there where big holes between our lines. Unacceptable.

Also Matic performance was criminal

Completely agree. I was one of the persons last year after he started to decline saying he was being run ragged by Mou. That may be part of it, but now it's abundantly clear that he's criminally slow and a liability in the middle.

Well, not putting ourselves under pressure by conceding via terrible first 20 minutes of play. The slow starts allow the opposition in and inevitably get a goal it seems.

Therefore we're chasing the game for the rest of the match. When you're in a 1v1, it's a high pressure situation regardless, but I'm sure it's easier to deal with if you're 1-0 up rather than 1-0 down.

It won't stop us from missing all of them, but our slow starts are chronic at the moment.

So happy we got the result. Not that happy that we always have to rely on Quality in transitions. No clear plan but we move.

:devil:Another comeback win! and Fergie time to boot at that -- winning goal scored and assist by our two academy players.

Tbh, it's a bad game. First half is terrible, equalizer is good. Second half much much better, after Herrera-Rashford came in.
But seriously we shouldn't play this difficult against Bournemouth.

3pts

A win is a win

Enjoy the win, enjoy the weekend Reds

Unlucky if you're anti-Mourinho. Maybe next match

Great result!

We are abysmal in some parts of the pitch. Really thought after the goal line clearance our heads were gonna drop.

Credit to the lads. I think Mourinho is building confidence more than anything, the never say did attitude needs to come back. He may be playing a mental game of chess with the players.

Time will tell.

Sums up our season so far really, in regards to performance.

Started the game poorly. However, Bournemouth were very good in the first half. Our team couldn't live with their quick, interchanging movement. It was inevitable that they were going to grab a goal, which they did, and were unlucky not to be three or four up in the first 30 minutes.

Last 15 minutes of the half, we started to get on the ball and conjured up a couple of chances, one coming for the in form Martial, who made it 1-1.

Second half, as has been the theme so often this season, was much better. The introduction of Rashford and Herrera made a difference. Herrera added a much needed stability and calmness on the ball, whilst Rashford's enthusiasm and running off the ball gave Bournemouth's back line a lot to think about.

Think the change of system also made a difference. Mourinho seemed to go with more of a 4222, leaving Matic and Herrera to sit in front of the back four, whilst the front quartet, along with our full backs, ran riot.

Collectively, we played at a much quicker tempo and created a number of chances, and although leaving it late, managed to get the winner, courtesy of Rashford, who apart from his missed chances, had a massive impact in the game.

Bournemouth, regardless of form, was always going to be a tough game.

All in all, I think the result was the main thing, and a win today puts us two points behind top four, with Arsenal hosting Liverpool later on today.

Nothing like an extra time United winner.

Defence was an utter shambles and Matic offered no protection in the first half, although he made an improvement in the second half. Some of the posters in the match day thread were really laying into Fred but I thought he was one of the few players that looked energetic in the first half (along with Young who was MOTM). Would love to see Fred and Herrera start together.

If these intangibles were easy, everyone would start and finish strong. All we can do is keep drilling the importance of a fast start into the players.
I just watched the mourinho post match interview and what's even more strange is that he says they trained all week to start aggressively and even the warm up according to the coaches was the best warm up they had this season.
He said defensively we were awful but it's not just the defenders it was the whole team not starting the game the way we planned
Don't understand these slow starts at all.

A very entertaining game with a last minute winner. Some of the attacks in the second half were vintage us. Pogba was my man of the match. His long chase and tackle at one stage was exactly what i want to see him do.
Now let's take this second half display to Juve. Go united.

Awful for 30 minutes. Brilliant for the rest of the game.
That's fair enough, I'd say. Really deserved a bit more here and there, when Sanchez was clean through, it wasn't offside. Few good chances in the second half. Matic seems off his game, which is worrying, Herrera was great. Shaw and of course Martial had very good games, and happy to see Rashford get the winner. Also nice to see commentators eat their words, and Eddie Howe lose his smug grin.

Really good win against a decent side.
We made hard work of it but feck it.
Happy with Martial and Rashford both scoring, hopefully they keep it up!
Makes the Chelsea match even more of a stinker though, we'd have won three in a row.
Ps. Sign Ake, very good defender.
Agree with everything except the PS. More like thanks Ake, you tit.

How did we play? Missed the game .
I think a lot in here miss just how good, energetic and full of ideas Bournemouth were. They scored early, deservedly, and could have had at least another. Dave saved a couple After half an hour, down to Pogba mainly we began to get a bit of a grip. Goal came from a great interchange involving Sanchez and Martial. We should have been two up, but for a crazy wrong offside given against Sanchez. Second half we dominated, they seemed to tire. Herrera came on and added zip to the midfield. Took an age for the goal to come. But a deserved but nervy win. The team are not quite gelling at the start of games, there's kind of nervousness there. But as I say, Bournemouth were decent too, especially in the first half.

I'm just going to start tuning in at the start of our 2nd halves.

The question I'd like answered is: what the hell happens during halftime when we come out much much better than the 1st half?
Surely Jose cannot be telling our players to play badly in the 1st half and then tells them to play well in the 2nd?

Again we showed what we can do when we want to. We are capable of beating these teams with ease but it takes us to go behind to show it. We need to improve on our mentality without a doubt.

Didn’t see the first half but an excellent second half performance. It’s so frustrating because we can play good football and create chances but it’s so inconsistent from game to game. 3 important points, on to the next match

How anyone can be unhappy, after we are the first team to win away at Bournemouth since we did it ourselves, is beyond me!
Enjoy the win! Yes, we were poor to start and I hope we improve that, but we are turning into battlers. That can only be a good thing!

YES. Fred and Herrera as box to box midfielders, Pereira sitting centrally and dictating play, Pogba (Mata) playing further forward than Pereira, and running at teams on the break, Rashford and Martial as two up front (thought Sanchez had probably his best game for United though, and could be an option). Back four is a worry, too many holes, where opponents seem to find the space and exploit it. Would love to see Dalot play when fit, although Young did nothing wrong. Always rated Baillie, but seems out of favour at the moment, and always felt that Tuanzebe would make a terrific defender, if given the opportunity.

Most of the unhappiness comes from us constantly going behind and having to battle back. Bournemouth owned us for most of the first half but we had the better chances in the second half. Took a bit of luck in the end for that ball to fall to Rashford's feet and that time he put it away. I think we deserved the win in the end but there are still many questions to be asked about our defense, tactics, movement, and discipline. We're still far from a cohesive team and it shows every week. The bight side is it appears the players are fighting and I don't think Jose will be sacked anytime soon. Deservedly so in Woodward's eyes I'm sure but most fans still want him gone. This week will show if we've made adjustments to our mentality or just completely write off the Juve and City matches. Then another break, fecking hate internationals at this point of the season.

Because the mentality of some fans is to judge teams by their name. Bournemouth aren’t a big club, they haven’t spent a lot, they have no huge stars, so we should be thrashing them 10 nil.

Good win. On another note that David Brooks looks like he can be a real player He probably needs a year or two more playing consistently and maybe even in a team a ltb better and more prestigous than Bournemouth. He was impressive today though, and did look at the same level as Rashford for example.

Only saw the second half but Man. United were actually on top I thought, looked far more likely to score. Only heard the first 20 minutes on the radio.

Important win but you lot need to come much quicker out of the blocks with Juve and Man. City your next two.
