WWC19 | Final: USA v Netherlands

Rightfully or not, Cameroon has a history if (perceived) injustice at world cups so it’s kind of understandable that the players feel hugely aggrieved today. We feel that football authorities have always had it against us at international competitions and we have to fight against a million odds to win anything.
VAR blinked

Should have given the penalty, then have England miss it, then VAR it for keeper being off the line and let England take it again. Then when England score, send the gk off for protesting.

Bizarre decision from the ref. Quite clearly gets clipped. lf it wasn't 3-0, we'd all be livid. Does advantage normally get played in a situation like that?

Wasn’t a penalty for me. Not sure on the exact rules but the ball had gone by the time the tackle came in. If she was still in control of it, or was in a position to receive it in a 1-2, then absolutely it’s a foul. But the passage of play has moved on and she wouldn’t have affected anything by staying on her feet.

It doesn’t excuse it but when you understand the general context it explains it a little bit. I guess.
No, it doesn't. I thought you were going to provide an example of blatant bias but instead you describe what happens in almost every single game. Borderline decisions go for and against teams, referees interpret red cards as yellow and vice versa. It's disgraceful behaviour and there's no justification for it whatsoever.

Borderline decisions from about 30 years ago

Every single team can point to games where a marginal decision went against them.

If that was the rule no late tackle would be a freekick.

Be amazed if England get through the next round. Cameroon did have a few chances though they have been really poor.

The perception (right or wrong) in Cameroon is that it happens to us at EVERY international tournament. And like I said, today feeds into that perception.

How though? There's been no wrong decisions against you today!

I can see the players being annoyed in the heat of the moment when they didn't know that the ref was right but afterwards? They'll surely be a be embarrassed when they see the replays.

England look devoid of any real quality. Graham Hansen will have a field day against this England backline.

You're not making any sense though.

What do you mean today feeds into that perception? The ref getting all the decisions correct?

You're just making excuses for the Cameroon players acting so stupidly.
