Berbatov | Fulham player

Its not the first time he didn't worked for the team. So cut the crap.
That's not the first time your speaking unnecessary bullshit. Berbatov has been working pretty fine for the team this season. His first year in a United shirt. Last time I checked his created the most goals for us, just an example...

Furthermore he got injured in that game and he is slow and Languid. If anyone expected him to be of serious use being what he is, plus injured, with us down to 10 men, playing badly and needing a lift, then the only thing left to say to that person is they are dead stupid. Period!

If he was injured then he should have said it to SAF.
Nonsense. He got injured on the pitch! I haven't claimed he got injured before the match. Not long after we were reduced to 10 men he got crocked. Any one could see it. Fergie probably thought he could run it off. That is why he lasted till half time.

Rest assured that he wouldnt have played an injured player, not again fecking Fulham.
Rest assured your statement is both dumb and irrelevant. Because firstly, I never said any where Berbatov got injured before the match started. Then secondly, Fergie proved you dead wrong by leaving a clearly injured Berbatov on pitch till half time. So much for not playing injured players vs "fecking Fulham"

Saha was a very good player when fit, Berbatov on form is world class. Ridiculous comparison really.

Can't agree, there. Saha was brilliant throughout 2006, and was something of a cross between Drogba and Henry. He had speed, aerial ability, physical presence and technical ability. Pity about his finishing and injuries.

I can't imagine how good this team would be with that Saha, and I'd definitely take him over Berbatov.

I am not a massive Berbatov fan but I am a fan. I was not a Saha fan. Berbatov is twice the player Saha was in my opinion. Some of Saha's control was absolutely shocking. There were matches in which he played that he kept miscontrolling the easiest of balls. For me, he was one of the most frustrating players ever to play for United. He had his qualities but he was injured too much to show them on a regular basis. Berbatov can offer a lot more to United than Saha ever did.

Also VERY two-footed and for my money, he's the striker that got the best out of Rooney at United.

Probably the same people who ignore the fact that Berbatov's arrival has coincideded with Ronaldo's worst form in 3 years.

Probably the same people who ignore the fact that winning the Ballon D'or has coincideded with Ronaldo's worst form in 3 years, as usually happens, e.g. Kaka and Ronaldinho from recent times.

Fixed.

This old chesnut.

Why do people keep ignoring the fact that Saha's best few months at the club arguably coincided with Rooney's worst?

Funnily enough, I'd say that Saha's form co-incided with Rooney's best AND worst form! :D
At the back end of 05/06, Rooney was absolutely unbelievable, and Saha was really bang on form. One of the highlights of that period was a finish with the outside of his foot against Bolton, which reinforced the fact that Saha should only be fed with half chances. At the start of the next season, however, Rooney wasn't the same player after his injury. Saha, on the other hand, maintained his form up until the week where we played Celtic and Chelsea.

I'm not entirely convinced that Ronaldo's inability to make the right decision/keep possession of the ball is anything to do with Berbatov's presence. Perhaps his goal tally may have been affected by his slight change in role, but you can hardly blame Berbatov for the quality of Ronaldo's overall performances.

Exactly.

The season before last he was playing as a conventional winger (an even more restricted role than he's playing nowadays, when he still regularly plays through the middle) and he was fantastic. Not as many goals as last season but far better performances than he's managed this season.

I think it's a combination of the 442, poor form and not being arsed (the latter two possibly connected).

He's played very well in a 442 before, my money's on the latter two factors being the most significant, as well as the psychologocal consequences of his first serious, long-term injury.

EDIT: and the curse of the Balon D'Or

This is shaping up to be your best season of your career...

For now, everything's going well. If we can win the title it will be even better. That's my main wish and my goals obviously help my team. If, in May, we've won the tile and I'm there to lift it, then yeah, it would be a personal best for me.

Sir Alex said he had a long chat with you before the season started - what about?

The manager talk to all the players before the season begins. He sets you goals; tells you what he expects of you. I don't want to talk about specifics - that conversation if between us - but I'm well on course with what he wanted.

Your double against Blackpool took your tally to 20 domestic goals for the season. How many more will you score?

Well we still have a lot of games left in the league, as well as matches in the FA Cup and the Champions League. We want to reach the final in both those competitions, so that gives me plenty of time. My ambitions have always been high so I'll try and score another 20 by the end.

Is there a reason you're scoring more goals this season?

I'm playing closer to the goal - often on the last defender - so that helps. But a lot of it is down to my team-mates; I've just bee in the right place to finish attacks made possible by their hard work. Wayne Rooney and I understand each other well and he does so much work that opens up space, which I benefit from.

Do you feel sorry for Wayne when he plays well but doesn't score?

No, because I don't agree with people who says forwards are judged only by their goals. Forwards also assist other players, open up space, drop deeper to receive the ball... there's so much more to a forward's game and when you consider all those attributes forwards need, Wayne is number one in my opinion. He's the best forward I've ever played with.

Has your relationship with Manchester United fans changed this season?

Obviously I'm scoring more goals now so I think people are happier with my performances. But I've never wanted the fans to sing my name or hold up banners for me. I just want to go on the pitch, do my job, entertain the fans and then go home and be with my family.

You sound like a Bulgarian Paul Scholes!

Ha, pretty much, yes! That's very accurate. I think I'm alot like Scholesy in the way he approaches things off the pitch. I don't like giving interviews or being in the spotlight. I prefer to talk through my skills on the pitch.

United are unbeaten in the league, but has criticism of performances been valid?

To criticize a team that's been unbeaten for so long seems crazy to me. Maybe people think the criticism will affect us. All I can say is that we know within the squad that this is a major achievement and we want to maintain this run for as long as possible.

Until the end of the season?

You have to be realistic. It's inevitable we will lose but for now we have to aim high. We'd love to go the whole season unbeaten. You never know: maybe we'll be the second 'invincibles'.

After missing out on a fourth straight league title, how much desire is there at United to win the trophy back?

It's huge. Winning the 19th league title is very important here. I'd love to do that for the manager, who's been here 25 years, as well as my team-mates and the fans. I think we deserve to win it. More and more teams look capable, but unfortunately only one will be victorious.

So, who's the biggest rival?

Everbody thought Chelsea were the team to beat, but they've slipped up recently. It will be very difficult for them. Personally, I think Arsenal are a very good side. I like the way they express themselves on the pitch. In my view, they're probably our biggest threat. Manchester City are big rivals and it's fantastic for the city to have two tops teams. They have very good players, but I think they need a few more years to gel.

Finally, Frank Lampard claims being the Champion's League is an advantage when competing for the league. Do you agree?

Hmm, that's a difficult question. You start the season wanting to win everything and you focus on that until you get knocked out. You have more games to play and it's harder to stay fresh, but the rewards are huge. I'd love to win them all.

With every interview he gives I love him even more. He always talks so well about Manchester United. It's refreshing to have at the club, rather than those who give sniping interviews bemoaning lack of playing time. Love Berbinterviews I do.

He's not had an easy life, but has turned out an absolute class act nonetheless.

This is why he was brought to the team, he understands what it means to play for Manchester United. He is a team player and does his bit for the team. I think he has had a stunning season to date and made a huge contribution to why we are top of the league not just because he scores goals.

It's a bit of a shame that such a gifted player, who has contributed a lot this season to our top position in the league, has to start from the bench the "big" games. Credit to him that he tried to give his best on Saturday when he came in.

he Dubious Goals Panel has credited United's second v Sunderland (26 Dec) as an Anton Ferdinand own goal, NOT a Dimitar Berbatov goal.

Now he's just one above Tevez :nervous:

This feels like last year when Drogba took Rooney's Golden Boot on the final day :(

I don't think he has 7 winners in the EPL - I wonder how they have worked that out - perhaps saying if he scored the marginal goal as the winner.

Blackpool, Everton, Liverpool, Sunderland, Newcastle, Fulham, Birmingham.

Didn't he score the winner against Bolton? If that's not an important goal I don't know what is.

I have only found one way to make it seven, and that's if you in addition to outright winners (Liverpool, Blackpool, Bolton) also count games where he got the first goal and the opposition never hit back (Fulham, Newcastle, Birmingham). The seventh is Sunderland, which can go in either category depending on your take on the second goal.

He didn't get the winner vs Everton.

He got one of 3 vs Newcastle.

Sorry meant Bolton instead of Everton. He did get the opening goal of the season against Newcastle - which is considered the winner. Stat wise the MWG even in a drubbing - the goal that is the *** against the opposition is the one.

Park gets credit for the MWG against Blackburn in the 7-1 since he scored the 2nd.

Stat wise - he has 3 MWG this season.
