First time I've heard a Psychiatrist refer to them selves as a "shrink"

That's nothing, police stopped me the other and shouted 'FREEZE....Don't Move...It's the PIGS'!

Phew, I thought he was talking about his effort for a second there because sometimes it does look like he can try harder.

He's got a habit of letting his effort drop when he's having a bad game. When his passing/touch is good he seems to find hidden reserves of energy and runs around like a maniac. When it's not his day, he tends to let his effort fall away at the same time as his ability on the ball and the game passes him by.

Fergie will slap that out of him though.

yes and no. I reckon it might get there oneday but this is all coming about because he's not playing. I think if he was, we wouldn't be reading anything and the thing with Anderson, he 'seems' to have more respect for the club/fans then Ronaldo did

Hopefully that continues but you never know

yes and no.

Ronaldo still comes out with positive comments about Fergie and the club. Only the other day he made a comment about Fergie being his greatest coach and how he respected him for turning him into a man. (Saha also said something similar recently)

Still, all that respect didnt stop him from clearing off to Madrid when he got the chance as they were his boyhood heroes. The problem with that is that a lot of Brazilians/Portuguese etc, grow up watching Spanish football.

So, what im saying is, whatever positive noises Nani or Anderson make now, should be taken with a pinch of salt

Always, didn't Anderson allegedly, inexplicably say he wanted to play for Inter one day? Before he's even done anything for us.

We shouldn't tar them all with the same brush though. Gilberto Silva was a fantastic servant for Arsenal and Fabregas has stuck by his current side for years now, despite going ages without a medal.

Besides which, if United only ever bought players who had been diehard United fans since birth it might prove a bit limiting.

For how long, the noises seem to get louder? In fairness, none from him but he's starting to reach a performance level that would make him reasonably confident of being competitive for places at Barca.

To be "that guy" - and I am one of the guys that believed something is/was going on outside of form to make Anderson be left out - this latest article still doesn't confirm he went to Brazil. If he had admitted it then they surely would have quoted him like some of the other quotes used in the article?

As for the earlier mention that Nani was never injured during his time out, I am surprised by that. Nani wasn't even in training sessions, surely if the manager is trying to get the best out of him, Nani would have at least been training, much like how Anderson has been training with the team for weeks but, hasn't got on the bench. That's a hard one to buy for me as it would also be basically outing SAF on a lie.

There was a period after his injury that Nani came back and started training but, hadn't started making the bench yet but, was assuming that was due to fitness.

I hope Anderson starts today - our midfield didn't perform on Saturday and that could be due to tiredness. I think he'll put in a very energetic performance the few games he comes back in much like he did last time he came back.

'I went to Brazil to think about my future,' admitted Anderson. 'I didn't go there to negotiate with other clubs, though.

That's apparently a direct quote from him. Are you suggesting they've made it up?

lol I just read the article again where it said that and came to apologize and saw your post ... darn I was too slow. I guess first time I skipped that line after it said before it "He has not featured at all since the 2-1 Carling Cup defeat at Manchester City more than a month ago and during that time the 21-year-old disappeared to Brazil after skipping a training session." - that is where I was getting no quote from.

So my bad.

I hope he starts tonight and puts in a special performance, is much needed from him to convince his doubters that he has it in him to make it as a top player.

He's back tonight - according to the BBC

Brilliant! This is the best news I have heard this week.. Well considering I knew Rio and Vida would play this game last week itself..

Edit: Why the feck is Rio not in the squad? Surely he doesn't need any more rest..

So, how did he do before going off?

I'm not watching as I'm waiting to watch the highlights on Sky later but I did read on the BBC that he'd had to go off injured.

This might seem a bit over the top, but I had tonight's match down as a simple make-or-break tonight for Anderson. Seems he got a stay of execution...

Sad to see him depart after such a bright start :(

edit: to answer Baldwin, he took one knock, got back on, limped a bit before looking fine, then did some acrobatics and a nutmeg and reverse pass that must've looked clever in his head, before waving his hands saying his knee wouldn't take any more.

Looked sharp to me.

He was started off on the left wing - so I doubt would have turned out as a break or make game.

No clue how he was doing except for reading he nutmegged someone with some skillful play (while playing injured) and then came off right after.

Started well I thought, especially given he was playing out of position.

Some promising pieces of play - e.g the nutmeg just before he went off, the dribble and pass that led to the injury(and a very good chance).

Gave us an added dimension of penetration at times which Park doesn't really bring, although he did play his part in the goal(which no doubt many won't even realise).

That pass was quite clever, with the outside of his left boot. He looked creative today, and I reckon if he got into the game more throughout, as I'm sure he would, he would've been a good contributor for us tonight, I reckon... Sadly we won't know about tonight. :(

Aye I thought we'd miss his creativity a bit when he went off but we're lucky Valencia's having such a good game it's not really a miss.

I think Ronaldo is just being honest. I think Ronaldo was out of order and is trying to build bridges, especially with his responce to blatters slave comments

It's true about latin players but you do get exceptions like juninho (that ex boro midfielder). We'll just have to see but you know Anderson would have to improve quite a bit for it to be an issue for us in the future anyway.

I don't know if you watch the reserves but Pogba especially looks a real prospect and that's the good thing about our club

Its not been his season this season. Hope he returns soon.

any further news on the injury lads? Disappointing to hear. We could do with him for the milan game especially

The commentator said twisted Knee.. feck knows how long that could be.. & the point you bring up about the Milan game is exactly what is troubling me.. We needed him for that game.. Lets hope he gets back in time for it.. Otherwise Gibson did very very well tonight I wouldn't mind seeing him in a midfield three either!

We have Gibson. No need to panic.

he did (only saw highlights) but Milan are a different kettle of fish to west ham. Hopefully that doesn't prove to be the case :)

Well, I thought Gibson played a really big part in letting Scholes having more time on the ball. He bombed forward so often that the 2 MF's had to pick him up everytime thus creating space for Scholes which we didn't usually get in the Milan game.

But again, Scholes made a 4-4-2 look easy last night and I forgot that he was 35.
