Barcelona - a lot of moaning about them and some praise

He's a class act. I agree he could do without the excessive rolling around, the incidents of face holding and all that but i guess you just have to accept it for what it is.

 How can you argue with this.

A fantastic player with some bad traits. Pretty much like any player but his bad traits are in the eyes of british fans well and above the worst.

British, are you playing stupid? I live in Sweden, he is loathed here, I was in Germany last week, he is loathed there.

feck off with the "British" bullshit

To not watch what the rest of the teams not in the CL get up to every single week?

Does that actually makes sense to you?

To draw a fairly accurate picture of how they conduct themselves in high profile games. Does that make sense to you?

I'm not talking about Getafe, I'm talking about Barcelona on the biggest stage in world football.

You said they are the worst.

So you are including Getafe because you're saying Barca are worse than any other team, strangely including the many teams you don't even watch.

To make such a statement you must have a larger sample than what you see in the CL.

Surely?

Considering the quality of their players and their position in world football, seamingly unable to win big games on sporting terms. Yes, I consider them the worst.

Feel free to trawl the Spanish and Italian lower leagues for worse examples. Frankly, I don't care.

You consider then the worst without seeing the others.

That actually makes no sense at all.

I made a statement the other day that Fabgregas is one of the most natural passage of all time, it was a dumb statement and I retracted it to say ' that I've seen.'

Now, this also relates to your case about Barca.
They maybe the worst from what you've seen but to say they are the worst flay out without sampling the rest, it doesn't make sense.

Be man enough to admit it.

You ignore my point about their position in world football, funnily enough.

but it's a mute one.

You're either the worst divers or you're not regadless of your status in world football.

Unless you've sampled more teams you can not label Barca the worst.

It makes no sense.

I can, quite happily.

Rather the usual fanboism. It's win-win in the CL final for you this year.

i just want to see a good game. I hope United come to play but realistically i forsee something simelar to the copa del ray final with United doing their best to stop Barcelona rather than impose their will and win the game with the football they know they can play.

The way i see it this United side are not as strong as the one that was easily defeated the last time where as i think this Barca side is an improved side and they won't have the defensive problems as they'll probably have everyone at full fitness. Abidal, Puyol, Pique and Alves. Which for me is the 2nd best defense in the world behind Uniteds.

Just my honest opinion, i don't support either side.

Then who do you support?

Man for man maybe the 09 side was stronger but I believe we have a better team this time. Players are playing for each other more rather than trying to win the game single handed or run around like headless chickens.

As for trying to stop Barca playing like the Copa Del Rey final, I can't personally see it. It worked for one game but as was proved it had it's limitations. Yes we may well lose but I can't see us playing to stop Barca playing if that makes sense, SAF will motivate the team to play the Utd way win or lose.

Would be great to see. Hernandez could cause problems, his movement is outstanding and if you get a big performance from Rooney/Giggs/Nani and the defense is on song then it'll make for a wonderful match.

I just see Barca having too many difference makers compared with united.

How do people come to a conclusion just because you do not hate Barcelona and constantly moan about them it automatically makes you a fanboy?

Why do people come to a conclusion just because you do not love Barcelona and constantly praise/defend them it automatically makes you jealous/a Real faboi/a Ronaldo fanboi?

Both are just as bad and should really stop because they're making a mess of this place.

because they started supporting Real in the summer of 2009 meaning their fierce rivals is Barca.

I don't actually like Barca but their football demands respect.

me too, I posted in this thread before that I have always prefered Madrid over them. And that has been the case for me for many years

FranklyV, I simply don't agree that the recent furore over that first leg of the Clásico semi is due to either cluelessness or bitterness.

I think the predominant feeling is disappointment due to the vast gulf between expectations and reality on that occasion. I've never come across anyone who isn't impressed by this current Barcelona team, or who wouldn't rate Xavi, Messi and Iniesta as true greats of the game -- incredibly gifted players it's a privilege to watch.

You might have a point that expecting a whirlwind display of freeflowing football devoid of gamesmanship in a EC semi Clásico betrays a certain naïvity and lack of familiarity with La Liga, but it's hardly clueless, nor is it in any way indicative of any general negativity towards Barcelona.
If aything, people could be accused of expecting too much, holding Barcelona up to unrealistic standards.

Regarding the percieved bitterness, I find it strange that we see this alleged 'bandwagon of Barcelona negativity' now, and not in 2009 when the wounds were still raw. Neither does it really make sense to me to accuse people of bein both clueless and bitter. If they're cluless -- in the sense of failing to understand Barcelona's greatness as a football team -- how can they also be jealous of something they so utterly fail to comprehend?

Calling Barcelona a disgusting team is of course silly, but so is your extremely antagonistic tone in a debate where you're a soi-disant neutral.

No because in the eyes of the make believers to be a neutral you automatically despise Barcelona. Which i find silly. I don't hate Madrid either. The semi was a disgrace no doubt about it but like i said can you imagine Liverpool were very close to United, or City in the coming seasons and United play them 4 times in 3 weeks with everything on the line in these games, the league, the cup and the CL? It'd be wild. It might not have the same gamesmanship which is common in Spain and Italy but you bet there would be moments of disgrace, moments of controversy and a lot of bitterness direct by the players and fans and the reason is because it's football and you care, the players care and the mangers care. When you are up against your bitter rivals you care even more.

Far more disgraceful was the antics during the old firm matches, after 3 it got too much for everyone and resulted in some of the worst scenes in recent scottish football history. Was anyone surprised? if they were they were idiots.

Do i condone it, not at all but like i said from the start, it is the job of the governing body, the FAs of these teams and the referees in charge to ensure this sort of thing doesnt happen. Do i single out one team as above and beyond as an example of all that is "disgusting" in football? no i don't. But that's just my opinion and you are all entitled to yours but if you think petty insults from zen86, ole or cal are going to change my opinions you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

I agree with everything you're writing here, Frankly.

I think your view of the issue as per this latest post is exactly in line with how the majority of the Caf feels about this game and these issues in general. Maybe this is down to me not reading the forum so thouroughly, and/or not being aware of certain older arguments concerning Real Madrid and Barcelona.

It's of course beyond ridiculous if anyone demands you despise Barcelona to be counted as neutral (and a contradiction in terms, at that), or hurl insults at you for your very reasonable view as expressed above. I just don't recognise this picture you paint of a significant portion of Caffites being rabid, knuckle-dragging Barcelona haters -- not at all. I saw a lot of disappointmen about the first leg of the semi, and the OTT emotional outbursts that goes with such disappointment. I never visit the Messi or Ronaldo threads though, so maybe I'm living in blessed ignorance. ;)

i seem to bring out the worst in a certain proportion of cafeties, if all they have is insults then they don't have much to offer. But then it's not my problem i just give my opinions and that's that. A bit of debate is what it's all about and i'm just amazed at the levels of hatred displayed by certain posters, well maybe not amazed but i find it a bit mental.

Maybe if you stopped being so patronising, disregarding all other opinions based on the usual clueless stereotype people would be more inclined to engage in proper debate with you. Instead it's your completely unbiased opinion rising above everyone elses blatant agendas.
