Bayern München v Manchester United

Really good lineup. Worried about Evra v Robben but hopefully he'll do well.

So I guess Bayern will lineup like this?

Neuer
Lahm Dante Boateng Alaba
Kroos
Robben Gotze Muller Ribery
Mandzukic
If so, very brave from Pep. Could see Kroos as the lone DM getting taken advantage of.

Oh wow. Lahm at right back and Kroos/Gotze as a midfield two. Could be more goals in this than you'd think, for both sides.

The leaked team was correct then. Pretty good line-up, hopefully the lads can step up and get a win.

No Nani, but Young in subs, but overall a very reasonable team. It's the team that the caf loves, so they can't really complain about Moyes in case if we feck this up.

The same team that was leaked then. nice lineup.

Bayern setting up more attacking than I thought, must say,

IF FLETCHER SCORES WE'RE ON THE PITCH!!!! Could not have hoped for a better team selection, well in Moysie!!! I hope that its Rooney uptop and Welbeck and Valencia either side of Kagawa though.

That Bayern midfield has great technical ability and movement, but much less physical presence than usual. That might really help us when we need to keep the ball a bit.
As for the lineup, does this mean Rooney will be the no. 10 behind Welbeck? Or will it be Rooney up top with Welbeck/Kagawa/Tony behind him? The latter would make more sense I suppose.

Edit: Also, quite glad to Fletcher and Carrick start, I still think it's our best midfield two at the moment.

It'll be the same as last time imo

Great lineup, forced by injuries but still good. Exactly what I was hoping for :)
Bayern are all out attack, very vulnerable defensively so we just have to stay firm at the back, because there will be chances in this.

Yep, agree in general. Some are still under more pressure than others though, Barca for example haven't been obsessed this year with the CL final / CL trophy and they haven already won 3 in the last decade, whereas RM have been talking about Decima since they hired Mourinho. They have also already reached the CL semis 4 years in a row now, so anything apart from going at least one step further this time - which means reaching the final - would be a failure. Barca however could "afford" to get out today or in the semis, if you know what I mean.

If they win atleast La Liga Real could afford it more than if they do not win a title at all. Same with Barcelona.

I can imagine that Lahm and Alaba stay deeper and that Robben and Ribery will fall backwards into midfield sometimes. Yes - very attacking... :D

Normally I think the former, but given it's Robben/Ribery out wide I think he'll want Welbeck's defensive contribution over Kagawa on the flanks.

Good line-up. Happy Fletcher starts in midfield, he's played well and his energy will be needed. I wonder if it's Smalling or Jones at RB? I'd prefer Jones.

Bayern going all for it, there will be chances on the counter and hopefully we can take them.

I hope so, would make so much more sense at both ends of the pitch.

Only one recognised CM on the pitch for Bayern, Pep taking lessons from Tim Sherwood I see.

Hopefully it's Kagawa behind Rooney with Welbeck on the left.

Shame about no Nani, more likely to create something if needed off the bench than fecking Young

On the other hand, having a tall, athletic outlet up front to contest aerial duels and relieve pressure could be important.

Any idea of who is on the bench for Bayern?
Manchester United : De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia, Rooney, Kagawa, Welbeck

Bench: Lindegaard, Büttner, Ferdinand, Giggs, Januzaj, Young, Hernandez

Bayern Munich: Neuer – Dante, Ribéry, Mandzukić, Robben, Boateng, Götze, Lahm (C), Müller, Alaba, Kroos

Bayern Munich bench: Raeder – van Buyten, Rafinha, Pizarro, Weiser, Hojbjerg, Weihrauch

Jones on Ribery with Smalling at CB, provides us with a bit more pace than Rio would have given.

Can't even complain about that team, best team we could have put out

Götze and pressure?

He shot the 1:0 when he came in in his first match in Dortmund. I guess the pressure is similar. He has experienced partners...

For the ones that can use a German proxy - the ZDF sport usually shows a livestream between 19:45 and 20:15 from the stadium and the warm-up - without commentator. (German time)
