Berbatov | Fulham player

You say that Rooney and Hernandez did score, and so you can say they won us the league, so why can't we apply the points you laid out here:

to them as well?

Go for it, do it but let's be honest, those points against the teams I mentioned at that time of the season whilst literally equating to the same amount mean more in terms of significance, and you damn well know it.

The fans know it, the team knows it, the media knows it. I'm not sure if it was you but already had this discussion, three points against Chelsea in April mean more than three against Blackburn in December and Berbatov has shown he's incapable of scoring in these title important games...

So all the stuff Berbatov has done for the team this season, if we took him out of the equation somebody else would have stepped up and done the same, maybe even better. But for the goals Rooney and Hernandez scored, if we took them out of the equation we'd win nowt, because the games they did it in are at a different time of year?

Got it. Berbatov is shite, we may as well have signed Robbie Keane.

I'll tell you how I came to that conclusion, quite simply he didn't play between Feb-May often and didn't score, Rooney & Hernandez DID play and DID score, especially against the likes of City, Chelsea, West Ham etc in the games which were crucial, had Berbatov had played in these games the law of averages state he most likely wouldn't have scored considering he hasn't done in any of the games of this magnitude in all his time with is.

Now, the likes of Feekeh, bless him, will claim Berbstov's substitution against West Ham was the turning point of our comeback when silly me thought it was Rooney who scored along with Hernandez.

Now answer the rest of the post.

Just like its not Torres fault he got 50? Ronaldo 80? Rooney 28, Verson 30?

feck off with the inflated bullshit. He cost 30 million pounds and hes only come close to playing like a 20 million pound striker for half a season in his United career.

With the ridiculous way you view Cost=Ability are you of the assumption that Carroll is nearly 6 times better than Hernandez? I'd also like you to explain to me the difference between a 20million and a 30million striker, seeing as how our 30million striker has only managed to play as a 20million one.

feck me. Carrol is a young striker. Liverpool paid outrageously stupid money for him, but when we signed Berbatov it was hardly considered over the top money for the player we were suppose to be getting. The real transfer inflation only started a year later when Perez and City fully opened up their check book.

At 27 years of age we were supposedly purchasing a striker at the pinnacle of his career. Established talent with silky skills and a certified match winner. The difference between the two is one that delivers when called upon at the business end of the season. The one you'd put money on when called upon to pull something incredible out of the bag.

So in the end, everybody is happy for a 30 million 'his appraised worth and one Sir Alex felt was not over the top' to play as well as a striker who's value is around the 15 million mark? Meanwhile he's also pocketing 100k a week too boot? He has cost us 45 million pounds thus far, and I think its fair to say that he'd have been lucky to pay half of that back.

City pushed the price up and it was the final day of the transfer window. Who knows if we'd have gone through with the deal at that price if the situation was different.

Now answer the rest of the post.

Hectic, this is getting dull mate; what else do you want me to answer that hasn't been asked by you previously, Nick or Feekeh in the past?

Do I have to play it backwards for a hidden question or something? It's weird, you ban me for saying too much about Berbatov and now you're demanding I say more...

The fee was what United were going to pay irrelevant of how much City offered (which was apparently more), Berbatov claims he was always going to sign for United;

Dimitar Berbatov says he never considered signing for Manchester City, despite their attempts to persuade him to join them rather than Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

The 27-year-old completed a £30million move to United from Tottenham Hotspur with just minutes to spare on September 1. However, before completing his move to Old Trafford, City had a bid accepted by Tottenham that was said to have been more than the £30.75 million that United paid.

Once they realised Berbatov was committed to joining United, City switched their attention to Robinho, eventually persuading the Brazilian to move from Real Madrid for £32.5m, smashing the British record transfer fee.

"I would not even have thought about Manchester City," Berbatov said. "My only goal was to come to Manchester United. My ambitions and goals are big and I want to fulfil them at the biggest club in the world.

"I heard about the offer Manchester City made and the money they want to spend. I was surprised but it did not make any difference to me. I just wanted to come here. That was my only goal - and I achieved it."

I would never have signed for Manchester City, says Dimitar Berbatov | Manchester United - Times Online

There is absolutely no point in debating you Scoreboard. You'll ignore the posts which make good points, or selectively pick things to argue against, knowing it'll drag the argument around in circles. Sometimes you'll leave a thread altogether when a point has been made pretty much disproving what you say and then join one at another stage spouting the same original crap again. It's incredibly frustrating and it's conducive to recurring debates.

Are you up really, really late or up really, really early?

Which points have I ignored mate? Address them with me and I'll address them back, just me and you.

As for 'leaving the argument' or whatever, you'll find I politely advised the lads earlier I'd be back in ten-fifteen mins as I was on the train. I was in the city this morning for a meeting, I'm not sure if you know but I actually live in Sydney so I'm almost always at work on here, I hardly post that much at home. I had a meeting that went for a while, then caught the train back here and have been back around an hour or so. I haven't ducked or avoided anyone intentionally and will always, if I physically can, respond to a discussion.

Let's have it mate, just us if you like but I will say I've a teleconference in less than 45 mins...

This is getting dull now - with Berbatov its always polemic and i dont think anyone will ever change his mind. i gave up a year a ago, there are people who dont like him and will not.give him.credit wheres it due, there are people who will prise him no matter what.

If Berba leaves he will be leaving not because he is shite or because of his attitude. If Berba is sold its because he's not suited for a new system SAF may want to introduce and because at age 30 its the best time to sell him.

Lets face it guys. Berba is a magnificent player, he's got great talent and he loves Manchester United. Unfortunately at times he does seems out of place at OT. He does slow a bit our game and he's not an impact player (which is a problem considering that only Rooney deserves an automatic first team place in our forward line)

I like that he's always wanted to stay with us. But this is about making sure we recoup the money spent on him. Next year he gets to leave for free, and while that's ok for a striker like Owen it's not ok for a man that cost 30 million.

Berba has had the best season of his united career. I doubt he will do better next year (in fact there's a good chance he will do a lot worse -- considering he won't be #2 after Rooney, and Rooney will probably start the season a lot better then post world cup).

The time to cash in on Berba is now. It seems a bit ruthless, especially given that Berba has never really had a bad word to say about United, but that's football for you. We either bite the bullet now, or sit 12 months and watch 30 million evaporate into the ether.

Berbatov has scored the most winners this season, but yeah we would've won the title without his contributions

Come off it, you always do it. Case in point from the Chelsea/Blackburn thread you started, several posters pointed out if we didn't beat Blackburn we wouldn't be the same amount of points ahead, you ignored all of them and made a joke about some aunt's cock or something. I've constantly had to say things twice to you, others have pointed out you're selective in what you argue against too.

Good post and it's worth noting that one season (not even full) out of three doesn't equate to good value and as you say, we've probably seen the best of him so the time to count our losses us upon us...

I'm on my iPhone on the train and will soon be driving to get my kids, im right here if you want a debate mate, I was waiting for you all afternoon but you never showed up mate.

I'm not saying you avoid debates, god knows you don't, I'm saying that during debates you ignore points that don't suit you, argue against the ones you can, and then in the next thread bring up the same original arguments again. It's tiresome.

Hang about, you said I ignored those who said Blackburn three points are just as important! No I never, I responded to Hectic and Nick, best backtrack and check our kid...

Or he signs the one year contract extension which was offered to him.

Oh aye, well here's my impression of you;

You are a pathetic poster, Johnno. You really are. Don't know why you think that you can debate. And don't know why to mods allow you to write so much shite and to use such language toward other posters.

Or he signs the one year contract extension which was offered to him.

If he is so interested in staying and fighting why hasn't he already put pen to paper? Its not like the offer hasn't been on the table since Feb! He's taken the gamble of not signing a contract straight away. Unless he's got a clause that matches a certain amount in comparison to our top earner, he's shot himself in the foot with his late season form. You would expect the joint league top scorer to get a pay rise, but he wasn't consistent enough and now it seems like he's trying all he can to talk his United place up in the press.

First off, you criticize me and are surprised I retaliate?

Second, what language? I didn't swear at you.

I have the same impression about your debeating skills as Feeky. There is nothing sheepish about sharing someone's opinion, it's not like I haven't read the crap posts you write and agree with Feeky only because I like him as a poster.

I hope they are going to ban you because you deserve it with your abusive bahaviour on the forum and because your posts are generally mediocre or just shit.
