Berbatov | Fulham player

I just saw his goal. He played well overall, I take it from your post, mate? I also heard that Rooney and him did a nice one-two for Anderson's goal?

that give and go was amazing, executed at an amazing pace.

he was a little frustrated with Rooney giving it to Ando over him, though.

showed a lot of frustration through the match but it was clear he wanted to deliver at least one goal. I reckon he'll be on a real mission this season.

I didn't care who Rooney gave it to aslong as it was a goal.

It was embarrasing and disrespectful by Berbatov.

The team scored the goal which is more important.

Its not as if Anderson missed.

The first sentence is nonsense and I think Berba realized that because he celebrated with the team. The speed at which the move was executed meant he would have had no inkling that Ando was anywhere near the play.

He's going to have a phenomenal season.

I do hope so, he started last season on amazing form. I'm looking forward to seeing him play again

I only got to watch first 30 minutes of the game (recorded and watched the goals this morning and will finish watching it tonight) but, from what I saw of the first 30 min, Berba wasn't anything special. The Anderson goal was obviously the highlight till then. As for the disrespect thing - it is the same reaction that him, Rooney and even Giggs tend to do when the next pass wasn't what they were expecting. He did show frustration of not getting the ball as he ran through but, then that seemed to quickly pass and he realized Rooney's brilliance in seeing Ando's run - and he pointed at Rooney in that that was all you kind of thing (did the same thing for his own goal - the pointing thing).

So for reading the stories this morning about how he proved his worth and what not - I would hope that he had a brilliant 30 minutes after when I stopped watching because the first 30 weren't anything to drool over to get that kind of press.

I expect him to play h is part this season. It's hard for anyone to say Berba looks hungry as he himself says you won't find him puffing around the pitch but, he does look up for it and isn't distracted by the whole contract thing or rumours. If he really was this sulky SOB, then I don't think you'd find him hanging out with the lads like Rio's diary video showed.

Just glad he's got himself a goal on the tour, he's very much a confidence player. I'd just like to see him score on a more consistent basis rather in drips and drabs.

I was at the match, and Berbatov and Rooney had another mild argument. Berbatov played a ball out wide to Rooney, but it was hit hard and Rooney couldn't reach it. From where we sat, it did appear it was Berbatov's fault that he hit the ball hard and way wide of Rooney.

But he still put up his hands in exasperation, and gestured to Rooney. Rooney gestured back like 'What am I supposed to do if you play it like that'. However, I think way too much is made out of these 'tantrums'. Rooney and Berbatov were smiling and talking literally a minute after that. I suppose it's normal for these guys.

Berbatov does look really hungry. I was at the match and I can easily say he didn't have a bad match at all. A big shout to fans from Dallas, who came and sang songs throughout. I was sat on 225, and nobody would sing there, even if I start a song. I did go and join the guys there after half time :D

I didn't think it was a particularly impressive performance. Well-taken goal though.

It's noticeable that he's in great physical shape. Looks to have beefed up a bit, so must be working hard in the gym. Good to see him responding positively to the battle to get in the team.

This isnt his last year. We have an option to extend it by a year, which we almost certainly will.

I watched the game and though it may have looked like he was frustrated with Rooney for not passing it to him, it was actually exactly the opposite reaction to that. He points at Rooney, throws his arms in the air, tilt his head, shoulders up- as in "That's it, you're the man".

Believe me, I know the man. He's done it before. Off the top of my head, he's done it to Carrick, though I can't remember which PL game, and Giggsy I think. It's his thing

This is what I think too after watching it a fair few times, pretty much backed up by the fact that he goes to Anderson to celebrate about 2 seconds after gesturing to Rooney, so it must of been positive

i'll rather have berba than owen or even macheda or welbeck in our starting line up any day.

and i'm sure chicharito will get a lot of rest at the start of this season, and being a mexican he is bound to travel halfway across the world on a regular basis. berba will get his opportunity then.

David Gill has today played down any suggestion that Manchester United are prepared to sell Dimitar Berbatov. Despite both Berbatov and his agent repeatedly claiming he has no interest in leaving United, he has been linked with moves to Italy.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, there was the belief that Berba had to agree a new contract this summer, or leave on a free next year. Gill has today talked about a clause in Berba’s contract which means this isn’t necessarily the case.

“There is an option to extend Dimitar’s contract by another year, on the club’s side,” said Gill. “We can do it whenever we want to do it and there are no conditions around it. Everyone has been talking about Berbatov from the outside, saying he wants to leave or that we want want him to leave, but we don’t want him to go. We want him to stay. He scored over 20 goals last season, so there is no desire on our behalf to see him go.

From our perspective he has, effectively, two years to go. We have until the end of the season [to extend his contract], so we can assess how it goes, talk to him, see how he performs and see what happens. I’ve not had one conversation with Dimitar [about his future]. There has been no correspondence in that respect.

The decision Alex took [leaving Berbatov out of the Champions League final] was a decision he took for that particular game. It wasn’t a decision taken with a view that we want Dimitar to go, because we don’t.”

Berba Has “Effectively” Two Years On Current Deal

Conclusive enough?

I think both were in 08-09. Carrick, have him a first time through ball (a beautiful one) released him to score against spurs.

And after receiving a cross from giggs and scoring, berba runs to his teammates pointing at him, and everyone was around giggs.

You're absolutely spot on.It's the way I also read the whole thing while watching it on youtube.
It's retarded to think Berbatov would be mad when a goal is scored, if he was mad it was when Rooney passed it to Anderson (as Berbatov wanted to continue the great passing between them) but after that I'm sure he was happy about Rooney's decision.
This is what happens when the body language of a player is analyzed too much, some ridiculous conclusions can be made

I have never seen a players bodylanguage analysed as much as Berbatov's:lol:.

It's abit like the analysis of Nani's confidence when Rooney or Berba have occasionally shown frustration in the past.

DIMITAR BERBATOV is a target for mega-money Spanish outfit Malaga after being told that Manchester United have delayed opening contract talks with the Bulgarian.

Reds chief executive David Gill said yesterday that Berbatov must wait until next summer to discover if he is being offered an extension to his contract that has one year to run.

Berbatov, 30, was snubbed despite Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia being given new deals. It means he is the only United player with less than a season to go on his current deal – a clear sign that he is playing for his future.

Gill said: “There is an option to extend Dimitar’s contract by another year on the club’s side but there’s no point yet. We have until the end of the season, so we can assess how it goes, talk to him and see how he performs.’’

Gill said United wanted to keep Berbatov but the inference is that he is on trial. That news has alerted Malaga’s Arab owners who have already splashed out on Ruud van Nistelrooy, Joaquim and Jeremy Toulalan.

They failed in a bid to grab Chelsea’s Didier Drogba yet the Spaniards have plenty left in their budget to make a bid for Berbatov, who would cost significantly less than the £30.75million United paid Spurs for him in 2008.

I don't know why he didn't play or at the least come on. SAF prob wanted to try something new.

Think he'll be gone next summer, think he'll be used even less this year as Welbeck and Macheda are given more time.

I'd love Berbatov to stick around. He played an absolutely huge part in helping us win the league title. He's worth much more to us on the pitch than for any amount we can hope to sell him at, and he brings something different to the game from any other striker we have.

I still think it was criminal not to have given him a at least a decent run-out in the CL final. We had little to lose, seeing how the game was going.

Twitter rumors that PSG Have bid €21.5million for Berbatov. As much as I love Berbatov, that's an amazing offer for a player in his last year of contract. Don't think it's true though.

It isnt the last year of his contract... well, it is, but the club can extend it by a year

I know there is a large part of our support who arent too keen on him, but I love him.
and he will always be remembered
our record signing
our first 30m+ player
most expensive signing in the league for a few minutes :nervous:
5 goals in a league match
hattrick against liverpool
Golden boot

and his general awesomeness

Don't forget how fecking cool he is.

And how much of an inspiration he is to us with footballing aspirations but no discernable level of match fitness or ability to run.

That last bit may have been a joke
Great quality doesn't require much effort
saw white text after replying... boo

Hasnt that rumour been going for a whilst. Think PSG and Berbatovs agent both denied it a few months back.

He wasn't even on the bench, so it's hard to give him a run-out. I agree with you though, Berbatov is a great player and instrumental in us clinching the 20th title.

Gill makes no sense to me. So at the end if next year if he performs, we extend that one year. If not he leaves for free.

This one year extension really means very little. Because either way it is now the club should be sorting this out.

I just cannot see us letting him to leave for free.
