Berbatov | Fulham player

My stream showed it on a loop at half-time, I'm nigh on certain it was onside.

Clearly off.

Benefit of doubt to the attacker though and rightly so, and what a finish it was, love those kind of headers.

Stills can be misleading when judging these things, I've seen it at least ten times and I'm convinced one of the defenders moves out (as Berba moves in) at the instant the ball is played. Nobody at sky mentioned that it was offside if I remember correctly.

Stills aren't misleading at all, that is the moment Nani strikes the ball, and it's offside, no argument there.

The defender does move in afterwards which is obviously what fooled the lino, doesn't change the fact that it was offside though.

This vid shows it perfectly, you can clearly see the moment Nani kicks the ball.

I can't see that video; I'm at work. Stills can be misleading because invariably they are not taken at the exact moment the ball leaves the attacking player's foot. I think that's the case in this instance.

But I just told you that it wasn't. I took the still

The video clearly shows Nani kick the ball and then they freeze frame, stop debating, it was offside.

you are right, but (i think this may have been argued earlier), he was a regular at Spurs (i mean at set-peices). are the other substantially better than him? i guess it just shows that the step up from Spurs to United is actually a pretty decent one.

I don't think he was a regular, Glaston'd know better but aside from his West Ham one I can't remember many more...

It was offside but extremely tight. The defender moves towards the goal at that moment so probably looked onside at the time to the linesman.

Has anyone pointed out that he was very good last night by the way?

I was going to look back through the thread but couldn't get passed the offside issue.

The chance he missed wasn't as easy as was made out in the match thread imo.

After the goal he was brilliant, his touch is sublime.

Played very well, shame he missed his big chance to win it.

I would love to talk about this, he played well an 8 out of 10

But I am too gutted with the result

Played well. Couldn't have asked for more other than his second chance hitting the target.

Great game, bad miss.

His best game in a long time, looked dangerous every time that he got the ball. Shame about the miss at the end, but to be fair it was a difficult enough chance.

Has anyone pointed out that he was very good last night by the way?

You didn't look back very far, these are all from the previous page. The only reason the 'offside' debate was raised is because 'evra' was adamant that the goal was onside, which of course was a ludicrous argument.

Thanks. That's good to see.

It was offside. It doesn't detract from the wonderful finish. You really are warped if by trying to maintain it was onside in the face of evidence. I think you are of the opinion that if it is offside people will pick on this - this is so absurd as the postings of Johno?

He was excellent last night and a bit of luck good have had a hat trick. heck even sharky is praising him and rightfully so.

Let's get it back on track then :)

Great game from him yesterday, personally I prefer him without Rooney, I feel that's when we get the best of him.

Some beautiful touches too last night

You think he is better playing higher up the pitch?

I think he's better when he is free to play wherever he wants - I think its a waste if he is used at just leading the line a la Mario Gomez.

I just think he's better when he's not alongside another player who wants as many as touches as he does.

I used to think this but now I don't.

Last night was a prime example. When Hernandez came on and we have the ball in midfield instead of dropping into the hole he was playing right up with Hernandez.

Interesting - you could be onto something.

Berba at Tottenham had Keane playing deeper, getting involved and moving around whereas Berba took up more central positons - if i recall correctly. Young was playing in the Keane type role.

Berba scored one, setup Cole for another and was unlucky with a shot. I think I prefer Young + Berba to Berba + Chicha.

It happens against us enough and we're expected to take that as "part of the game", I'm just doing the same now. It happens, we benefited. No big deal.

No one thinks it's a big deal, the only reason we were talking about it was because we were in disagreement as to whether it was off or not.

it was offside, but who cares? It was given, not disallowed so why is this even being debated amongst United fans?

look what you started evra! :) Now people think we're trying to belittle the goal or something.

For the last time, no-one gives a shit that he was just a tiny bit off, it doesn't make it any less of a great finish and it's no slight on his game as he was excellent on Tuesday.

The only and I repeat ONLY reason anyone debated the offside was becuse 1 poster asked the question to which evra posted "it's not opinion, he was ONSIDE".

This sparked a small debate about whether it was off or not,,we debated the decision, not Berbatov, not the quality of the finish. Doesn't surprise me that you're being over-sensitive again Erica :)

Did he do enough against Benfica to start tomorrow?

It would be harsh to leave him out IMO.
