No quotes from Fergie after the match?
I'd have thought he would have plenty to say about Levys attack on him.

No quotes from Fergie after the match?
I'd have thought he would have plenty to say about Levys attack on him.

There are quotes he said we are contemplating taking legal action and that Levy's comments are based on a newspaer article. He also said Daniel Levy is "different". According to SSN.

SIR Alex Ferguson believes it will be “very embarrassing” for Tottenham if they decide to carry out their threat to report Manchester United to the Premier League.

Chairman Daniel Levy is furious at United for what he sees as the very public courting of striker Dimitar Berbatov.

However Old Trafford boss Ferguson maintains he never mentioned anyone by name when he revealed they had tabled a bid for a player.

Ferguson claims his remarks were misreported by a national newspaper and that United may now bring in their legal team.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa, he said: “It is going to be very embarrassing for them (Tottenham).

“But you know what Daniel Levy is like. He is different.”

United had to settle for a point in the opening game of the tournament with Chris Eagles getting the equaliser.

Eagles, who made only three appearances last season, saw his header take a deflection in the 59th minute following a cross from Carlos Tevez.

That goal cancelled out Jonathan Quartey’s opener from the penalty spot that sparked scenes of chaotic celebration at the Newlands Stadium.

Challenge

It was a feisty match and Wayne Rooney was booked for a challenge on Tinashe Nengomashe.

However Ferguson believes the England striker was unfairly punished.

“Wayne is a born fighter,” said the Old Trafford boss. “He gets frustrated in some games.

“He is learning how to control himself and it (the challenge) was next to nothing.

“I do not think he was out of order in this instance.”

England defender Rio Ferdinand was ruled out of the match when he suffered a back spasm just before kick-off.

However he could return for the next match against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday in Durban.

Michael Carrick, who is also carrying a knock, could also be available, while Wes Brown is expected to recover from a gashed ankle he sustained today.

Ferguson added: “It was a good competitive game and the Kaizer Chiefs played well.

“We found ourselves 1-0 down and that makes it hard because you are still looking for fitness and rhythm to your game.

“I think we deserved a draw. It was a good workout and a competitive game with lots of tasty tackles.

“That brings an edge to your game and I was very pleased to get that kind of competition today.”

I like it when the Fergie speaks.
Don't agree with his comments on Wayne though. He's getting Wengeritis.
He needs a session under the Wengerometer

Rooney should have been sent off. In the PL he would have been.

I hope you're reading this Glaston........

Levy's protest was just a weak excuse meant to justify why Spurs where going to sell Berbatov/Keane. If Keane and Berbatov would have remained with Spurs then they would have had a serious chance to end up in the CL group. Now I doubt it.

A public and formal allegation of tapping up based on recycled quotes in the Sun - yeah right you double Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime

The level of naivety from some posters on this forum astounds me sometimes.

Yes I am Chiefy.

Fergie is clearly being badly advised right now:

1) If he claims his comments were 'misreported' then he'd best take up the matter with the MUFC officially-endorsed Norwegian fanzine, since this is where the Sun obtained these quotes as I understand things.

It will be be an interesting spectacle: MUFC in a lawsuit against one of its official fanzines for publicising allegedly fake quotes.

2) These Fergie quotes are a sideshow in any case. The real substance is the allegation of tapping up, which has precisely nothing to do with Fergie's quotes. Levy's statement refers to evidence stretching back to last summer. I'm hearing that this evidence includes documents, tapes and film. Call it bollocks if you will - we shall all find out soon enough.

If Fergie thinks that Levy's allegation of tapping up revolves on such a flimsy basis as Fergie's quotes as relayed in The Sun from Norway, then he's living in a fantasy world and should lay off the whisky.

Fergie may be trying to laugh if off right now, but that will change.

Levy kicks up a fuss. The FA do nothing to SAF. Spurs play hardball to get a higher price. United get their man.

Spurs were cnuts with Palace over Bostock. United are cnuts to Spurs over Berbatov. Madrid are uber-cnuts to us over Ronaldo.

Everyone's at it!

Ah, so the fact the Levy claimed he was going to report United the day after these quotes is actually a complete coincidence. That makes perfect sense! And of course he chose not to mention any of this before, and of course he made no mention of this other evidence because...urm... :wenger:

I see why everyone thinks you're a complete and utter spastic. No offense like.

Why should Fergie do something if Levy backs his comments of the Sun? Fergie doesnt have to come out if Levy is naive enough to believe the sun

Did you read what I posted? "These Fergie quotes are a sideshow in any case. "

The substance is the formal, public allegation of tapping up.

.

Keep digging that hole!!

Can some MOD give a temporary ban to this character?

It was funny, but it's just getting incredibly sad now.

We'll see, hard to prove a tapping up
I agree. Which is why Levy would not have made that charge without very, very strong evidence. Whatever you may think of him, he's a very bright and capable guy.

Ever heard of the straw that broke the camel's back?

Yes. It's a rubbish saying and it doesn't apply here.

If Levy had loads more evidence to suggest it then he would have said something before. At the very least he would say so now. IF he did have evidence of tapping up the only reason to possibly keep quiet about it would have been to keep United unawares and hope to gather further evidence. Why would any half sane person then ruin that, by making SAF know he would have to tread very carefully in future, because of a ridiculously feeble comment that SAF may or may not have made?

It's a tactical ploy to try and get a few more million from the transfer. That is all.

:wenger:Why? They are not the ones labeling him a hypocrite in public, commiter of ""one of the worst offenses by any premier league manager" or accusing him of tapping up their player?

One Levy is. Who I told you earlier was making a right ass of himself.

SAF is spot on. Levy is playing with fire when he is doused with fuel.

:lol:You can't be serious.
Levy's entire show was based around the alleged quotes in the Sun to back up the alleged tapping up of Berbatov by us. Frankly if he coudlnt even get proper quotes what make you think he has any valid evidence of tapping up? Ever heard of the proverb about those who are trusted with little and fail to live up to expectations?

If Fergie thinks that Levy's allegation of tapping up revolves on such a flimsy basis as Fergie's quotes as relayed in The Sun from Norway, then he's living in a fantasy world and should lay off the whisky.
:lol:Dude it's you and Levy living in a fantasy world. Levy thought he could hood wink every one by chest beating crap about Fergie. In a bid t score points with his obviously gullible fans. It has well and truly beaten him in the arse.

As for you wont even admit how wrong you've been all along.

Fergie may be trying to laugh if off right now, but that will change.
You right. He wont merely try to laugh. He will be hysterical. Then soon after he will unveil Berbatov as a United player.

I'll ignore your other comments since they are irrelevant to the central issue (the allegation of tapping up) and ask you a question I asked another poster elsewhere.

Levy is handing over to the PL evidence of tapping up - he's said so publicly. He's the chairman of a major EPL club that is widely regarded as being very well run.

Rhetoric and banter aside, I'd like to hear your honest view of what this tapping up evidence might consist of, because surely you can't imagine that someone as bright and capable as Levy is going this far - going out on a limb - only to limply hand in a photocopy of an article in the Sun.

 This bright and capable made a disgusting attack on the integrity of SAF in the opening paragraph of this statement based solely on quotes without any given source in a notoriously unreliable tabloid newspaper.

Doesn't sound too bright to me!!

Insulting Levy isn't really a smart move if we want to buy Berbatov for a reasonable fee.

What's Fergie supposed to do after that nutcase launched such an attack on him based on dodgy quotes in The Sun?

feck the Berbatov transfer if it means handing money over to that freakshow.

Nah bollocks, why should Berbatov suffer, and us for that matter.

C'mon Glaston in the Ashley Cole farrago there were pictures of Cole, Kenyon and Mourinho in a secret meeting. What happened? Did Chelsea get docked points? Did Cole end up going to Chelsea?

These allegedly dodgy quotes first appeared in an MUFC officially-endorsed major fanzine.

Keep on repeating 'The Sun' mantra if it gives you comfort - but the quotes did not originate with them.

And the quotes are a minor sideshow - think 'alleged tapping up' and you'll get to the substance of the issue.
