Berbatov

Berbatov would actually be fantastic if he tried to play like Ruud, rather than dropping off. Not perfect, but a very good partner for Rooney. I hope he does.

It is not difficult to visualize once Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov start to have a great understanding on each other's movement, the goals will come without difficulty.

I'm surprised Liverpool can afford Keane...
why

riise - 4m +itangent - 2m = dosenna ?
carson -- roughly the same amount as they got that brazilian keeper for
crouch - 9m+addons
gutherie - 2.5m

they have made a decent profit in the summer ...

might sell voronin for 2-3m ..

that would be enough to sign keane .. shouldnt really be a problem

Levy's 'stupidity' is a complete fallacy. Surely to mistake shrewd bussiness and tactical haggling over a player who is, most certainly, in demand of one of the top clubs in the world with apparent stupidity is an illconcieved, and wholly biased, act of stupidity in itself.

You forgot to add the fact that nobody on redcafe is in any way knowedgeable as to the state of LiverpoolFC's finances.

I had said:

"...... It won't stop Spurs from making any Prem buyers of these two players pay through the nose until they bleed."

To which you replied:

"The fact that Spurs have spent over 50 million this summer plus the fact Levy will look like a fool over those Sun quotes will."

Which seems to me a clear indication that you reckon MUFC will now get Berbatov for a reduced price - no?
Yes. After Levy is proven a fool as we also factor in how much you have spent and are still to spend this summer.

That's the bet I'm referring to and which I assumed you also had in mind - a fixed transfer figure bet, with no possible argument as to the result of the bet.
I'm convinced he wont go for more than 25 mill. Cause he wants to leave and his manager does not want to keep him either, not making Spurs' position as strong as our with Ronaldo, for starters. Furthermore with Levy's antics now, he might drop to even 20 0ne Levy is found out publically. Cause the offend parties will play hard ball with their offers yet Spurs will need to get two clearly unhappy player off their books in order to strengthen their side.

Betting on a subjective intangible like 'Levy will be left with egg on his face' is clearly not a realistic focus for a bet - how would either you or me ever prove beyond doubt or argument as to who had won?
Levy being left with egg on his face. By being found to have made a frivolous complaint over quote he dug up from the very unreliable Sun newspaper. That's how

I dont think that the Tevez - Rooney partnership was what SAF had in mind for day 1. I mean last season SAF was still hoping that Saha will brush off his injuries while he still relied on Ole to provide quality cover for him. There again, while the Tevez - Rooney tandem gave us all the fluidity that we needed to become unpredictable, it also turned our team into Ronaldo's dependant and with Ronaldo's long term future with us, you cant blame the gaffer for searching for quality alternatives. Berbatov will make us less dependant to Ronaldo.

Have you lot considered maybe Levy isnt all that stupid? The man runs a EPL club FFS.

Do you really think he'll come out with such strong worded sentences against SAF with just an interview in the Sun to back him up?

Its more than likely he has evidence which we dont know about.

We thought United must have mega evidence to go to FIFA over Real and Ronaldo. Oh well.

Yeah well that was just a scare tactic.

I would have thought the same about this as well but the way he's gone after SAF would suggest otherwise.

I don't think it's any more then that. Maybe there is something but I don't see how it's possible

The article and the tactics in it and to the fact berbatov wants to leave have probably just tipped him over the edge somewhat. Though there is always the possibility he was sailing close to the wind in the first place

I see that we've started again with this Van Nistelrooy restriction of play nonsense. You'd think we'd had Inzaghi top scoring for us since 2001 judging by some of the descriptions of his play on here.

It's ridiculous. People make out that Ruud was some crippled amputee wandering around in the 6 yard box who simply put the finishing touches to many moves. Van Nistelrooy carried us for at least a couple of years yet when he's let go, he's somehow restricted a team consisting of several weak players. We did not improve in 2006 because Van Nistelrooy left. We improved due to the rise of Vidic, Evra and Ronaldo, the genius of Saha in the first half of the season, the re-emergence of Giggs and Scholes, the signing of Carrick, and the solidity of Van Der Sar on top of what we already had.

Barry will cost them quite a few quid.

Excellent post mate.

If the defensive reaction on ths forum against Levy's statement wasn't so biased, then more posters might acknowledge this.

Spurs are one of the best run clubs in the EPL. Levy holds a first-class honours degree from Cambridge in economics and is very far from being stupid. He's not in the habit of making mistakes or ill-considered statements.

Many has got the wrong concept that we sold RVN because he was limited. Which was certainly not the case. The Ruud saga went like this

a) RVN got injured and he struggled to gain his form back
b) SAF noticed it and started playing Saha until Ruud could return to his former best
c) Saha played the best football of his life making it difficult for SAF to keep him on the bench
d) Ruud got frustrated and he went berzerk
e) The relationship between SAF and the player got so sour that Ruud had to leave.

If Ruud didnt picked that injury he would have still been central to our game.

If Sir Alex actually told the sun this you might have a point but he didn't.

If your married but see a cute chic and tell your mate you'd shag her but you don't, does that make you unfaithful? :)

Technically no - so yes Sir Alex should have played it cool but we're obviously in negotiations

I think the fact, they've not turned down the bid speaks volumes.

There is still no proof from what Sir Alex said, that we tapped him up. All he said were we're in negotiations and we're confident but additionally the sun are completely unethical and are a joke for scouring the internet for scoops

As I understand things, he didn't tell the Sun. From what others posters have said he made his comments in an interview he gave to a Norwegian MUFC fanclub website and the Sun picked it up from there. I've seen a link somewhere to the website concerned, but can't remember where.

If this is true, then I doubt if the people running the website would have invented his comments since they are MUFC fans. And they may well have recorded the interview on tape for all we know.

Not from the comments alone I agree. But Levy's statement speaks of other evidence - he won't have said that lightly or without being very sure of his facts.

So the The Sun got their quotes from the norwegian version of RedCafe?

That's the medium that Fergie used to publicly "tap up" Berbatov?

Jesus, so if someone on COYS says that Levy told him that Wenger was a paedo, and the Sun base an article on the alleged quotes, then you would consider it valid if Arsenal reported Levy to the PL?

It is not a norwegian version of RedCafe. They are an official fan club, the scandinavian branch of One United. They have a forum as well, ask Collina about the website - i guess he knows quite a lot about it. He's an admin in their forum.

From my experiences, they are a very serious website and they usually don't write sensationalist bullshit.

Don't knock Redcafe. We've had our exclusive 'Kaka loves United' interview read out on MUTV!

Makes me chuckle really, as to how easy it is.

They're still not journalists. They're fans. If Fergie makes some comments to some Norwegian fans then it's a pretty strange method to use to publicly "tap up" a Bulgarian player.

I think you should be pissed off that The Sun did not carry your story seeing as Custis bases so many stories on the contents of RedCafe.

You really don't get it do you?

The evidence of tapping up obviously does not relate to Fergie's comments - arrogant, stupid and hypocritical as those comments are. Public comments do not constitute tapping up.

If Levy says he has evidence of tapping up - and is presenting this to the Prem. League - then you can be sure that he does. He's not stupid and doesn't enagage in pointless bluffs.
