F1 2023 Season

I don't think that's it, pretty sure the people who like Lewis generally like George too.

Anyway, enjoyable race yesterday and great to see the red bulls out of contention for once. Shows how great this season could/ would have been without them really as so many other teams have been close to each other all season.

How long does sainz have to match / beat le clerc for before opinion swings to him being as good as / better than him? He was brilliant all weekend.
Nah Iam a Lewis fan, but I find Russell annoying and a moaning bitch, OK Lewis and other drivers are the same, Max is on a par with Lewis and so is Alonso, you have to be up to a point, but there is something about Russell that sets my teeth on edge.
Don’t get me wrong I think he is a good driver, still a lot to learn.

Russell is one of my favorite drivers. I think it is exactly because of the hate he gets. It's probably the United fan in me.

Looks like another procession incoming. I've only watched 1 race this year.

What has happened to Charles this season, especially recently sainz has looked the better driver.
The car, is more balanced and understeers more which suits Sainz but not charles who likes some oversteer which he corrects with the back end.

That’s a fair point and yeah maybe why I am a Lewis fan.

Lewis has had to overcome so much more adversity than anybody else on the grid to get to where he is. He's been sort of spoilt and weird, particularly earlier in his career, but he also has a genuinely different perspective to anybody else and in my opinion is an impressive person as well as probably the best driver.

Russell, meh.

I quite like Alonso as well, whiny git though he is, and I guess Lando is ok, and I very much dislike Verstappen. It's hard to have very strong views on most Formula 1 drivers though, they're hardly relatable. It's only thundercunts like Marko, Horner, Pique and Verstappen that really elicit any strong emotions, but I'm not sure they're exactly positive for the sport at large.

Russell just has a very off-putting personality. He's a good driver, but nowhere near elite, and he comes across as a bit of an officious little prick at times. But I'm fairly neutral on most drivers, really. Obviously, I'm a big Verstappen fan, and Hamilton is a colossal bellend, but other than that no one really stands out.

I do have a soft spot for Lando, I suppose, even if he can come across as a bit of a knob on the radio.

Lando is easily bigger idiot between him and Russel character wise, IMO, but I like them both. Actually, most of F1 drivers are great and fun, and there is a big difference to what we see in bland footballers who struggle to even learn anything except than their mother language(many are struggling with it too) despite having so much free time, and have any character and charisma except when it comes to diving and moaning on the pitch.

He looks like a contestant in the Upper Class Twit of the year show.

What a surprise.

The FIA should be apologising for running the integrity of the sport by handing every break possible to Red Bull and Max over the last few years.

They are a joke.

The FIA has reintroduced the maximum time limit rule for all laps during qualifying sessions leading up to the Japanese Grand Prix.

This decision comes in response to concerns about potentially dangerous slow-lap queuing among drivers in Singapore last weekend.

During the Italian Grand Prix, drivers were informed that they would need to adhere to a maximum delta time for all their laps to address this issue.

However, the rule was not enforced in Singapore, where bunching up on the track was a notable problem, particularly in the final sector of the Marina Bay Street Circuit during Q1.

Although several drivers, including Red Bull's Max Verstappen, were investigated for alleged impeding during the session, no penalties were issued.

This led to calls from drivers like McLaren's Lando Norris for F1 to adopt a stricter stance on impeding incidents.

FP2 and Max is fast.
Looks like as you were.
Why were the RB so bad in the last race ?

Singapore is the grippiest track on the calendar that ramps up faster than any other - Red Bull couldn't run their usual configuration featuring the lowest ride height on the grid & flexible suspension without the car bottoming out too much illegally. They had to run the car higher to compensate - which took it out of its ideal window and as a result it was completely unstable and unpredictable in every corner, and it also seemed to be more draggy on the straights which eliminated their usual top speed advantage.

This is also why at Spa Verstappen and Perez weren't flat out into Eau Rouge - the compression there given how steep that hill is would have caused the same issue, so they were coasting into it on every lap.

Take the blinders of. Plenty of other drivers have gone with penalties for things they probably should have. Max just is currently the highest profile driver on the grid so it's confirmation bias. Even Max himself said he would be fine with whatever penalty they wanted to impose. FIA has never been consistent and always given more leeway to the top teams and drivers. Like happens in every sport. And no I'm not saying that makes it right.

logan sergant is a crap driver. he could have avoided that crash. how does liam lawson not have a dtive for next season but segant does? F1 is bizarre.

Damn second straight week no lineup set before qualy. Lucky with the sainz pole didn't matter as much but not this weekend.

Such a shame for lawson, 0.043 gap to alonso in 10th. If they hadnt of used 3 sets of softs in Q1 he'd have been into Q3.

Ladies and gentleman, normal programming has resumed. We apologize for the interruption.

Perez doesnt deserve to be in a Redbull next season. When you have a car that can pull 5.5G of lateral load through Spoon, how can you be so far behind your teammate?

That RB with Max is ridicously fast, good chance he will lap the field up to the mclarens tomorrow. In a class of his own at this track.

Monstrous lap by Max. Apparently, the biggest interval on this track since Schumacher's 2004 season. Quite telling.

Who do Red Bull replace Perez with?

Verstappen is just ridiculous. The fact that Perez is behind one Ferrari tells you everything. For all his fault, Perez is not an amateur, and he looks like one in comparision with Verstappen.

That was pretty boring it has to be said.

It's pretty amazing that they even gave Ricciardo seat ahead of Lawson. And yeah, Seargant is the new Latifi.

No matter who they replaced with, the car isn’t going to immediately work. RB has configured their cars according to Max strengths and expect the 2nd driver to work around it. Well, I’m speculating but after Daniel, it seems like it.

Well we do know the answer on how to slow the RB down

Id agree with this. They need a driver (for 2025 or 2026) who can either adapt his driving style or can drive the car like max. Basically they need a Mercedes Nico Rosberg who kept Hamilton honest to keep max honest.

Stroll not getting out of Q3 again  very lucky daddy owns that team or he'd be gone.

Surprised Lawson is only reserve as Riccardo has hardly shone lately I'd have had it the other way round

Guess RB are keeping Perez then... he's lucky as while Bottas was never in Lewis' league he was usually much more consistently on the podium

Stroll and Sergeant are just embarrassments.

No way will sergeant keep that seat for next season.

He was shit in F2 but still got the Williams drive. They care most about money and his family is loaded, and F1 loves an American driver on the grid. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's there next season.

Who are the best drivers without an F1 seat yet?

Drugovich, Aron, Lawson* who else?

Was listening to James in P3 and he was saying they actually hold new bits back from Sergeants car because he’s too shit to be trusted with them at circuits with no run offs.

He didn’t say it in those words but that was the takeaway.
