Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

I can't see us signing Bale to be honest. While it would be good to have him here, the price that we would have to pay to get him at the moment is to big of a hurdle.

Only way he will end up here, if it goes how RVP did and he basically states he is going to United and kills any sort of bidding war.

Perfect galactico for Perez to appease the fans with in the summer after the failure of winning feck all this season.

My guess is Falcao. Don't think the Madrid faithful will be too happy if Bale is released as their new "Galactico".

Yup with Di Maria coming here. I can honestly see this happening.

Yeh I think Ferguson has always been impressed with Di Maria from his time at Benfica. Would be more than pleased if he arrived, he has generally been overshadowed by bigger names in this Real side.....but his assist rate and all-round play is first class.

I think we will go for him, it will have to at least match the British transfer record to do so though.

It's performances like that where you can see why Sir Alex wanted to do everything to completely shut out Bale when we played them. Granted, we threw away 2 points for focusing more on Bale than the rest of the Spurs team, but if we'd left him as open as we did at OT he definitely could've done some damage.

Quality player, certainly high up on any football fan's fantasy transfer list after the usual suspects. He certainly deserves some hype, but as usual with the British pundits and papers it has to go overboard. Then eventually when he goes a couple of weeks of being quiet, they can grill him.

I wouldn't mind him going to Madrid if we couldn't have him. At least he'd be gone from the Premier League! But he is tied down to a long-term deal so he'd have to manufacture a move away to get out of that. But I can see him giving it another season or two if Spurs qualify for the CL. They're not too far behind to start pushing for the title, life after Modric has been positive.

I wouldn't go that far. Im sure signing Neymar, Gotze etc. would be better for appeasing the fans. How much talk is there in Spain of Gareth Bale? Do they know he's the best player in the world?

Exactly. It will take a bigger talent/hype than Bale to please them.

Bale is the perfect example of why you should invest heavily in youth when the right one comes along. I just wish United had blown Spurs' bid out the park when we were very capable of it.

I bet Sir Alex wishes he had done now as well.

Also lets not forget Bale plays on the left and Ronaldo currently occupies that position for Real.

Bale would be awesome in Italy. Seriously, they shit themselves against anyone with directness and pace over there.

If we did get him in the summer even if it is a silly fee, there would be no messing around with him. He would be a utd player for the next 10 years.

Remember Bale was a left-back and he was so shit that we was moved forward to the wing?

Anyway, he's on some form right now but he never seems to maintain it. Like the time he scored three in Milan, he was untouchable for a month then when back to being good, but not unplayable.

Can't see it. He'll cost a lot and his wages will be very high (unlikely to take a paycut from Real). And he's been a bit poor this season. I don't think SAF will be interested.

His wages aren't that high. Only last season he was moaning about his wages because he was getting only 3m pounds per year, and then got a contract extension with a wage increment but still don't think his wages are that high.

His agent is Jorge Mendes and he's not getting games at Real Madrid. I reckon there's a chance. I still rate him, despite his average season.

Bale does strike me as one who, like RvP, loves football for the beauty of it rather than the money side.

And if you forget fee's etc, Bale and United are probably a match made in heaven. I don't think he would join another London team and I don't think City would interest him.

If Bale wants to stay in England but also wants to be a success in terms of league titles and being a genuine threat in Europe, there's only really one club I see for him.

Agreed, sure we're the only top team in England who plays with wingers!

I don't think Bale would be as good if he'd joined us (back in 07) though.

He'd probably have got less playing time in a more defensive position, and let's not forget he didn't exactly set the world on fire in his early Spurs career. The Caf would've written him off!

Neymar is more likely to sign with Barcelona if reports are to be believed. Goetze, I can't say. Maybe, maybe not. I definitely see him heading out of England if he moves.

Bale picked spurs over us I believe.

No Fergie denied that this year. I also remember him saying it in a presser back at the time too. Southampton were more willing to work with Spurs because they were willing to offer more money. And we never got to speak to Bale.

Don't get all this Levy won't sell to us rubbish. He'd sell to the highest bidder and if two bids get accepted one abroad and one in the premiership then he'd try to point him abroad. That's what any club would do.

Falcao imo will be the subject of a bidding war, another round of the English El plastico. Given City have sold Balotelli and Chelsea have well Ba, which is hardly a long term solution and well, Torres, they will go hard for Falcao. Might even see Torres heading back to his roots as part of getting Falcao to SB.

Possibly. I can definitely see Torres move back to A. Madrid to revive his flagging career. Though I think Madrid will be interested. They would clamor for the biggest signings as I don't see them winning much this season. They could go for 2-3 big players and Bale could be part of that but not someone who will appease their fans as "The" galactico.

What a joke. He's not even in the top 5 attacking players in the premier league maybe not top 10, let alone the rest of the world
He's a great player in fantastic form but my god how people like to overhype him.

You complain about someone chatting shite then proceed to say Bale isn't even in the top 5 attackers in the PL? Irony alert.

Obviously he won't be the only galactico. Kaka will be shifted and a few others. So I see him they going on a buying spree again with Bale part of that spree.

EDIT: There'll be plenty of suitors for Falcao and moving across town to their arch rivals seems unlikely to me. Unless Barca become interested, I think Falcao will be moving out of Spain.

Predicted by whom? How has he been disappointing?

Well it depends on what your expectations were. But the Caf had him down as being something special, which I disagreed with and feel justified whenever I've seen him. He's incredibly frustrsting and his decision making can be poor. I'd say he's not better than Nani.

He is a terrific player.

How often have you watched them? Just the classicos by any chance?

Admittedly not much this season, bar the odd game here and there. As I said, he's frustrating whenever I've seen him.
