Guardiola insults medical staff | Medical team resigns

Gotta love the drama.

On a sidenote, I found this article on Müller-Wohlfahrt quite interesting because it actually gives some insight to how he works. Apparently he's very keen on using injections and methods that are not really scientifically proven. Not sure how 'medically accurate' the article is, but it's refreshing to read something else than the obvious stories about M-W being the ultimate elite medicine man who uses honey and calf's blood and magically fixes people.

I always get the feeling that mourinho is kinda popular with his staff.
Yeah your right. I just meant in terms of craziness and doing silly stuff.

The doctor in question:

Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt (born 12 August 1942 in Leerhafe, today part of Wittmund, East Frisia) was the club doctor at Bayern Munich. He was a club doctor for the club between 1 April 1977 and 16 April 2015.[1] He resigned after the medical staff was blamed after a 3–1 loss to Porto in a UEFA Champions League match.[1]

Many of the German doctor's treatments are controversial, including using injections of a substance called Hyalart,[2] extracted from the crest of cockerels, which is claimed to help lubricate knee injuries and take away the pain. He has also injected honey or Actovegin into patients.

Müller-Wohlfahrt's use of homeopathic medicine to treat players is also controversial.[3][4][5]

Wtf? Honey?

Yeah he only does that to the other team's staff.

Well yeah, he was in brawl with Guardiola and his best friend. ;)

Guardiola was bullying a teammate.

Wtf? Honey?

Wtf homeopathy? Homeopathy is a joke and a butt of ridicule amongst respected physicians and scientists. They'd have the same reaction as Pep.

He acted like a cnut too on the sidelines at times at Barca, but this is over the top.

To be fair, it depends when he is using it. For him to be so respected in can't be something he relies on. I imagine he treats players conventionally for the most part, and uses homoeopathy to accompany the traditional methods. It's not going to do any harm, and at best you can hope for a placebo effect.

I hope you're right. There's no medical evidence that homeopathy even works. To use it for treating professional athletes is just so wrong. Its like using medieval witchcraft.

Well he kicked a boot at beckham, which is bizarrely celebrated on here.
You'd think it would be accidental? Doubt he aimed for Beckham's face. And if he did so what, its just classic forgie?

Wow, that was disgraceful. No respect whatsoever. Glad he resigned, if I was in the same position, I'd feck off too.

That's very poor form from Guardiola. Incredibly disrespectful, would not blame the doctor for resigning in that scenario.

It's a good deal worse than sarcastic clapping, in my opinion.
The boot kick was probably just him lashing out at a boot on the floor and it accidentally hit Beckham in the face. Guardiola's clapping was clearly premeditated and calculated. I would much rather get a boot in the face.

Becks probably has a different opinion. His face is his capital.

Guardiola doing that in public is humiliating. He should have waited to air his grievances in the dressing room.

”He was around 12 feet from me. Between us on the floor lay a row of boots. David swore. I moved towards him, and as I approached I kicked a boot. It hit him right above the eye. Of course he rose to have a go at me and the players stopped him. 'Sit down,' I said. 'You've let your team down. You can argue as much as you like.’”

Read into that what you will but it's hard to conclude that intentional or not it was a good moment for sir Froggie.

Ok I haven't saw that extract before.

To be honest, you sound like a man who hasn't been sarcastically clapped at in your life. If you had ever experienced it the choice would be simple.

 Unbeleivable by Guardiola. Very unprofessional. And what the heck, they just lost Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt &co, he's widely recognized as the best physio/doctor/whatever in the world. How could Guardiola do that? It's like Enrique provoking Messi so much that Messi forces a move away.
If it wasn't for Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt's age, which is 72, I'd be screaming for us to sign him up.

He has been really successful especially with difficult patients - even some English players. He is really experienced and might have "golden hands". And it might be the way he handles his patients, too.

Not everything you can explain by science.

Maybe they'll replace Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt with Eva Carneiro so they get a lot more fans which includes some of my mates.

Actually - it seems like the culprit was not Guardiola or not only Guardiola (the stress with Guardiola is a permanent problem) - but Rummenigge, the elephant in the porcellaine shop, too, who caused this turmoil. I guess a special prisoner of Landsberg facility who usually works at days for the youth department will have some talks to do tomorrow...

Its not just science though. Even common observations say homeopathy does not work. At best its effects are as good as placebos.

That's shocking from Guardiola. What's with Barca ppl to blame everything but themselves when things don't go their way? Fergie never did that to his medical team despite us often leading the injury table!

Can the Bayern fans make out who he is clapping to? Some saying that's his assistant Torrent.

A couple of things.

.His not Pep's medical team, he's Bayren and as already said in this thread Bayren said no to Pep when he wanted to bring in his own medical team. Also this could just be me being to used to the 'Fergie' way of management but it just seem odd for a coach to not be able to bring in his own medical team.

.While the guy might be one of the best around, he's also got some very weird ideas(The Homeopathy) as already mentioned in this thread.

.With that in mind you can see why Pep might struggle with control knowing that someone on his medical team thinks smearing honey onto people does something other than making them sticky and delicious. Especially during a injury crisis.

.Pretty simple one this but PRESSURE.

Also I don't get the Barca stuff is nonsense.

It actually means that Guardiola had the offer to take over United - or to take over Bayern. We know what job he took. I do not think that Guardiola is the person that really likes to start with the basics with his team and has the patience. That is what van Gaal made at Bayern.

There is the story that the Pep and Hoeneß wanted to meet in the restaurant of the hotel in which Hoeneß was staying overnight but he incidently met Ferguson there so they postponed the meeting and Pep sent Hoeneß a car to get him to his house where they had the final talks and Guardiola signed the contract.

According to Auclair, United proposed him the job through Ferguson when they met in New York, the Glazers wanted to know what is plan were and he wanted to bring a lot of persons, he wanted to change all the coaches and the director of the academy. It was a problem for Ferguson and the Glazers who wanted a smooth transition over a complete revolution.

As opposed to Moyes who got rid of everyone too. If that's true what a joke.

I generally think those are good points, just don't agree that it's odd for a coach to not be able to bring his own medical team.

Apparently Moyes wasn't supposed to bring Everton with him. But yeah if that's true United missed Guardiola stupidly.
