Liverpool v Manchester United

It's not ballsy at all. If anything it's a bottle job

Nah, we haven't had the legs to match them the last few times. Nobody will know what's going on through Rooney's head better than Ferguson, if he thinks he will have a better impact off the bench I trust him.

Sorry Fergie, but what??????

Hope I'm proven wrong (again) but this is ridiculous

This won't work. Hopefully the damage won't be too bad and we can turn it around in the second half.

Ando should've started tbf, he's had two weeks of rest.

There is no logical explanation for that starting line up, I suppose Rooney being left out is understandable.
I'll be absolutely amazed if we win but that'll make it that much sweeter.

Seriously, no Nani and Rooney?

5 at the back?

I'm both excited and shitting myself at the same time.

oh oh dear UEFA, thank you for the international football. If it wasn't for super-interesting seat-edgers like Macedonia vs Albania the pain of waiting for proper football would be unbearable. now, Im so satisfied with last Tuesday's clashes that I might not tune in to watch this game.

bring it on NOW!

I read in the Times this week that the biggest overseas viewing figures are for Man United vs. Chelsea games, someone should tell McMahon and his "1 billion viewers".

Jones in a three man midfield, right? Even so, this would be his first game there for us, and given the brevity of the game, it's always going to be a risk if he's never had a few games before to get used to it....

With that in mind, I'm not despondent regarding the team selection. It's a containing team, made for high energy and solidity. Liverpool can't hit the ground running for the entire ninety minutes, therefore, it seems good to bring the big guns on in the second half when their midfield and defence are tiring....

I see the logic in Fergie's choice of selection.

There is plenty of creativity with Giggs, Young & Wellbeck. Still a bizzare line up though. Fergie not looking to lose seems to be the priority.

I'm surprised, but in Fergie we trust. He's the manager, works with the players day in day out. Hopefully the team will do the job. Come on United!

Jones in the middle? Could be good, but could also be costly if he drops out of position and allows Gerrard, Suarez and Kuyt free. Somebody get some rope and tie Evra to left back please!!

I wouldn't call it ballsy and I certainly wouldn't call it bottling it.

I'd say it's tactical and sensible. Pack the midfield with steel and graft and get control of a game we've lost convincingly the last 4 occasions.

If we get a grasp on this game, or even if we don't we have some serious game changing options coming off the bench.

I have a feeling today will go down as Fergie Master Stroke.

We have been well beaten there 3 years in a row. He is using a different approach and out to stop Adam, Suarez and Gerrard playing.

Not sure why he's left out Nani, but maybe he doesn't think Rooney's in the right frame of mind for the game.

I just worry Welbeck will be kept totally out of the game. On his own up front at Anfield the only player in our squad I trust to do a good job on his own up front is on the bench

With how open we've looked recently and with our poor recent record at Anfield it was only natural SAF erred on the side of caution today.
