I'd expect to see him get some game time against West Ham. He'll have a great option to have towards the end of the season.

Ok, Wednesday will surely be the time where it is proved that Nani is still alive, because I'm unconvinced.

lovely
be great if he plays well too, with young out this weekend by the looks of it

Great to see him back, hopefully the extended break did him good.
Can't wait to see him back, what he brings to the wings is far more "incisive" for lack of a better word.

If he finds his form soon, he'll be immense. I'm a little over optimistic about him, probably as I'm slightly tipsy.Hopefully he proves me right.

Just imagine if he and Valencia can find form now for the run-in, for a team that plays so much through the wingers we've been massively hampered this season with the crap form of Young, Nani (before injury) and Valencia. Getting these 2 into form would send us into overdrive!

I wouldn't hold your breath for Valencia. He's showing no signs as of yet.

Rapt that he'll be involved. I really see him combining well with Kagawa. They both like moving the ball on quickly and playing a direct game. Nani provides something completely different to Young and Valencia who are a lot more predictable. Though I'm not holding my breath though that he'll be anywhere near top form. Hopefully by February he can get himself in decent touch. Can't believe the amount of fans that had written him off as well. Pays not to pay attention to the newspapers too much.

I hope he has had some sense knocked into him during this weirdly long lay off. Hope he comes out having a point to prove. Will do him well.

I think Nani is a wonderful player, and I really hope there isn't a grain of truth to all the rumors about him leaving. He can be hit or miss at times, but he's one of the few players in the squad that are capable of producing moments of sheer class that can win games.

SAF on Nani (and Rooney)

SAF to MUTV: 'Wayne coming back is good news. He's been training for a week and looking good. Nani...is really looking very good.'

Sounds encouraging. I'm half expecting a great comeback, half expecting a below-par performance due to being out for so long. Still great to have one more option back

Did Fergie confirm Nani would be involved tonight, or is it just that comment above? I reckon we definitely need him at the weekend, that's going to be a very tough game.

Rooney and Nani looking sharp

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Wayne Rooney and Nani are both impressing in training ahead of their return to action against West Ham on Wednesday night.

The attacking duo will play in the FA Cup third-round replay and increase the options open to the boss at a busy time for the club.

Rooney has been out since the draw at Swansea before Christmas while Nani's last appearance was 15 games ago in Braga. Sir Alex also hinted that Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia appear primed to complete the front-four positions.

"Both [Rooney and Nani] will play," confirmed the boss to MUTV. "Both are fit.

"[There's] Chicha and Antonio, we've got a strong squad, you know. There won't be many changes really. Wayne coming back is good news. He's been training for a week and looking good. As for Nani, he came back from his spell abroad [having a break in Dubai] and is really looking very good. So I'm fine and will play a strong team."

Can't wait to see Nani back in action. We've basically played the whole season without him in form. Look out City & Madrid.

It's funny the amount of praise he's been getting in this thread after not playing for two months. I wonder how long that'll last when people see him in action again :)

Certain posters are very easily swayed unfortunately...harder to miss something when its not needed, but when you are desperate for it.. with our other wingers being subdued recently, I think it's more optimism, but I for one have always rated Nani very highly

How does Nani perform in the few matches following a return from injury in general ? I mean does it take him a long time like Rooney to reach a very good level ? I honestly don't remember

I remember both normal recoveries - a slow match or two but a gradual return to form - and explosive returns to action where he looked as good as he ever has.

From memory he isn't like Valencia who generally responds excellently after coming back from injury, usually takes a few games to hit form, but I've got a good feeling about his return.

I'm trying to be optimistic about it. He annoys me more than any other United player ever has, but if he comes back and is hits some good form, we should destroy a lot of the opposition.

The excitement is largely because Valencia has been largely shit this season and our wing play has taken over from the midfield in the zombie department. They have let us down this season, especially for a team that heavily depends on it's wingers for it's attacking play. Young has been the most consistent but he is hardly a "can pull the rabbit out of the hat" player. The exuberance due Nani's comeback is more hope than praise.

I highly doubt that he would have developed his brain under the Dubai sun though I sincerely wish he can rediscover his 2010 form. His fitness and form could be crucial in our cup runs.

It's the Lucas Leiva paradox.

I think Nani will have a blinder this evening and go on a great run of form through the next weeks, which is great ahead of the clash with Real.

Nani won our internal player of the season award in a title winning season. There is a reason why so many of us have a great deal of affection for him. He is capable of brilliance and, in the past, he has shown it consistently over a season.

People are making out as if Nani's never achieved anything with this club. Being optimistic about his return is a perfectly normal response.

It's more than reasonable to Expect that he goes back to being one of the best wingers in the league, as he has been for the past few seasons. His stats, even from last season when he wasn't at his very best, support that. We all Hope that he'll return to his 2010 form, which made him one of the most potent attacking weapons on the planet.

The quotes coming from SAF appear to be extremely positive.

It would appear that there were some issues last year & also it would appear that SAF has handled him well, given him plenty of time to think about his position whilst he as out injured & now appears to be very happy with his progress. It appears he may have had a crisis of confidence or something & now he has hopefully got his head to together & will kick on.

That's how it appears to me anyway.

Appears.

I don't know if it was clear, but my Lucas Leiva reference was tongue in cheek of course.

For me a Cleverley-Carrick middle 2 with Nani, Kagawa, Rooney and RvP up top is our best chance of winning the Champions League this time round. I genuinely believe Nani could have a massive part to play for the remainder of this season.

Same to both, but I had a quick check there and in 09/10 after those two months out he got an assist on his comeback, another 2 assists and a goal in the next three and from memory he was excellent in all of them. He hasn't been out injured for over a month since then. Not sure he's even missed more than two weeks since then, or at least it looked that way from a quick scan on ESPN. He didn't come back well from that Carragher tackle but it's a different situation altogether because he only missed one game because of it so he didn't get a chance to recover properly like he has here.

The thing is Sir Alex says so and so will play this game all the time and a lot of the time what he really means is he'll give them 30 mins off the bench.

An on-form Nani would be an inestimable asset for us, both in the League and Champions League, definitely. Hopefully, he got his bad form spell out of the way at the beginning of the season and he'll kick on from now on.
