Manchester City vs. Manchester United - Premier League, 10/11/2010

Sorry, I know this isn't particularly relevant, and that one up front doesn't mean you're negative, but didn't you have Macheda on the bench yesterday? Could he not have played up with Hernandez?

He could have, if he learn how to play football. He did come on though

lol jokes.

Based on last season I expect Scholes to have free reign of the midfield come Wednesday which should lead itself to a United win but should the worst happen seeing as Liverpool did us a favour tonight being 5 points off Chelsea following this difficult game wont be a disaster IMO

Get yer money on a draw.

Not many draws in recent derby's though

City 0-1 Utd
Utd 3-1 City
City 2-1 Utd
Utd 4-3 City
Utd 2-0 City
City 0-1 Utd
Utd 1-2 City
City 1-0 Utd
City 0-1 Utd
Utd 3-1 City

Last drawn derby was at OT in 2005, I think Barton scored for them (cant remember who got ours)

Has Carrick recovered? If we get our 3 of Fletch/Scholes/Carrick out there I think we will edge the midfield and give our front 3 (Whoever they may be) a chance against a City defense that can be got at it.

Any idea who the ref is for this one? god help us if its either one of Andre Marriner or Martin Atkinson, the 2 worst officials ive ever seen! please god anyone but them.

Uriah Rennie is making a return for this one.

Tevez has never really been the same since he left us. I think I remember him saying he wanted to stay with us for a long time. But now he is talking about leaving Manchester and quitting football all together. He should have taken the contract we offered him.

You dress your insults up with the pointless disclaimer 'no offence but... do you watch games or just read opta stats.' 'no offence but... you're like a bullshit journalist from a poor paper.'

Just because you give the disclaimer doesn't mean you're any less of a typical bitter cretin. I just don't bother with the pointless disclaimers. :)

No offence mate ;) but if I was a typical bitter cretin do you honestly think I would have got put upto the mains? I'm not envious of united, I don't come out with any of the munich crap, infact I totally despise it and any idiot that comes out with it.
Now people are bound to get upset if I am critical of united which I am from time time but I am never insulting in regards to it. But instead of having the attitude that I am a typical bitter cretin talking shit, if you think about it I may have some valid points. Just cause they don't agree with your agenda does not mean I am wrong.
Roll on Wednesday, this is the test to see where City are actually upto and lets see how far we have progressed from last season

What are htese problems exactly. Win today and City will be 5 points clear of 5th going into the derby 3 points behind United. Not really problems are they. For the record City should have every player fit. At home City should beat United imo with out strongest team

BOATENG-------------KOLO----------------KOMPANY-----------KOLAROV---

City have to win this match and I expect them to. BRING IT ON :)

Not sure about the fullbacks and lack of width.

Yeah i think Zabaletta will play now instead of Kolarov. I don't think the lack of width is much of a problem especially if theres no Nani as United will not have much width either as Park likes to come inside. Also I think Johnson may play now instead of Balotelli although Milner is a possibility so he will drift outwide. Boateng likes to get forward so he will provide width.
whats the concensus in regards to Uniteds team, is it still too early to speculate due to illness and injuries?

either way what he got sent of for was a joke, he did not do anything wrong. He did not stamp or kick anyone. Theres no way on earth he should get a 3 or 4 match ban for that

I haven't read through the entire thread, so I don't know if anyone has said, but having seen the incident this morning, I don't know how you can defend Ballotelli here. He aimed not one, not even two, but three reckless kicks at the West Brom player. Even Gary Owen on Sky just admitted it was a blatant red, and that City are appealing it only in an attempt to ensure he plays against United.

Unfortunately we've got a long list of rival fans who play the well-meaning good guy in the newbs to get promotion, then turn into utter morons once they've got their well-earned soap box in the mains. I haven't seen many of your posts but going into the FC United thread and calling them jokers, then coming in here trash talking our midfield and getting pissy with people who prove you wrong doesn't exactly set a good impression. I have no agenda but I will pull people up if I think they're talking shite, especially if I can prove it.

I was hoping we'd go into this game with the six wins on the bounce, and we have. Confidence will be high, but we'll have to wait and see what team we can field. It'll be three central midfield players, though.

Berbatov is struggling with the virus, Nani is out with his groin injury, Hargreaves, Michael Owen and Giggs with their hamstring injuries and Valencia with his long-term ankle injury. Am I missing anyone?

On the positive:
Jonny Evans, Gibson, Anderson and Carrick are all back from virus I'd imagine.

Definitely still thin upfront with no Owen or Rooney and Berbatov struggling, and perhaps not enough wide either, even Park was more effective in the centre than wide, I'm not sure either Obertan or Bébé will start this game I'd consider Fletcher on the right for this.

Press confrence tomorrow at 9:30 so should get a better idea then.

We'll do well to get a win on Wednesday. I'd be happy with a draw with all things considered.

I wont be happy with anything other than a win, not that it is exactly something that is nailed on at this point though

I suppose "happy" is the wrong word really. More like I wouldn't be upset with a draw.

No Berbatov - I know his form has been tailing off a bit but he has been very good at corners when we have been defending.

I hope he plays as he could do with getting a goal or a good performance. I think Hernandez is better playing with Berba than on his own up front.

Trouble with a virus is that you feel under par before it manifests itself, when the symptoms appear and for a while afterwards. If he's struggling with one then it might be better if he didn't play.

Saying that, we've not got a surplus of strikers at the moment so we might just end up having to play him, as we did on Saturday.

Could always play Hernadez upfront with Macheda, I suppose.

So Balotelli is definitely out. So do we need to worry about Johnson now? I'll gladly take a draw if our team is anywhere as bad as the one put out vs Wolves.

Could well be.

Or I suppose we could play Obertan or Bebe as a lone striker. :wenger:

Think about the 1995 FA Cup run when after Cantona's ban, the only recognised avaliable striker was Mark Hughes, who missed some of these games and United had Giggs and McClair upfront a lot of the time.

Thankfully Irwin, Bruce and Pallister scored the goals that were needed.

If City don't win this you can all have a good laugh at my expense on wednesday night. I'll make sure I come on and hold my hands up (although i do expect City to win :) )

And we will be here Win or Lose !! Lets hope its a good match, remembered for great football, stunning goals, good sportsmanship and a United win.
